Second time this year my debit card has been used by scammers. Woke up this morning with a slew of calls from my bank along with alerts. Some fucker using Russian and Indian IPS was trying to make numerous small purchases. I just got refunded some money they had managed to get. Thing is I so damn careful now where I use my debit card. But now cant use it to load Skrill :mad: and am now paranoid about using my debit card anywhere online. 3rd time in total I have had this with the RBS bank in the past year. What other options do people use in the UK for online purchases ? pre paid cards ? so angry at this ... and its gonna take them a week to issue a new card. And right as Im moving house as well. Rant over

BS isn't it? You probably saw my thread recently, when my card had never even been used anywhere ffs! In your case it seems like the details may have been sold on the dark web or skimmed. Bad luck.

A rightful rant tho, dirty bastards

On a lighter note, only a temporary 'fix' but you can upload to Skrill using Paysafe pre-paid cards. I say temporary as the upload limit is quite a low cap for PSC and I think they charge as high as 7.0%!!!!

Yep filth is the name!

But on that lighter note paysafe you buy them at paypoint outlets yes ? then you get a number which you using for the depo to skrill ?

7% is a pretty steep fee ... ! :eek::cool:

Yep read it and it sucks. Its the mess it causes having to get the new card, change all my login details (again) to be sure ... and the fact some fucker trying to empty my bank account.

Anyway come Monday Im gonna open a second account and shift money between the 2. Thing is the bank offers no real solution when I asked them. They just said be wary of ATMS being fitted with cloning software and where possible only use ATMS in branch .... or dont use your debit card online. Its mad .... they dont even trust there own security!!!!

Absolute scum that do this, hope you get it sorted Deeplay

Cheers it is sorted now, card blocked, new one ordered, and money refunded at 6pm tonight back to my account. Just a real hassle ... and on the other thread in the BBF with Cashimo this is exactly why i wont send documents through email as they requested me to. Bad all round. And leaves a person wide open to getting sensitive data hacked / stolen.

Bad what happened to your card seems to be all i hear about these days people losing money through different scams. Least you got it all back quick enough.

You buy paysafe vouchers at all paypoint they are valued at £10, £25, £50 and £100.

You dont need to upload to skrill thojust deposit direct into casino using the voucher no fee then and if you withdraw you should be able to withdraw to your normal deposit method.

Good thing about the vouchers is you dont need to use whole voucher in one casino.

Say for instance you brought a £50 voucher you can say deposit £20 at one casino and deposit £10 at 3 other casinos if you wish.

When you deposit it asks amount. When you type in voucher code it tellsyou how much is left on that code.

Cheers for the info  May use this method at Rizk this weekend

That's exactly what I do - another current account which has never had the card used online. Any balances in my gambling current a/c get sent over there on the instant bacs system in online banking when I receive w/d's. A bit like 'no tools left in this van overnight' sort-of-thing. I simply keep an amount I'm immediately going to use for a deposit in it.

Good Idea  Barclays here I come next week :) which I will use only for my vices ... and in the rare event I do cash out I would instant transfer to my other account.

First thing I would have done if I saw my card being abused online is to reformat my computer. Chances are you may have a keylogger or so on your computer. Antivirus programs help to a certain degree, but against professional scammers it probably won't work as they make their programs so the antivirus-companies won't catch up before it's to late. The only way to stay safe is to make sure your computer is up to date, and not to download any risky files.

I'd order a new Debit card from the bank.

And then if I was you, I would only use my debit card at INDOOR ATM machines.

It would be 99% impossible to install skimming contraptions on in store ATM's.

99 times more likely of a skimming device on outdoor (Hole in the wall) ATM's.

;)

EDIT: Sorry that there are dirty bastards out there with no moral or ethics what so ever.

I linked my Visa Debit card to the account that I don't use which means the balance on that account is $0 on 99% time.
I transfer the money into the account that is linked to Visa Debit, just before-literally 10 seconds before I make any purchase.
One of the way to protect Debit Card from being misused by some bad people.

No need to re-format fire walled to the hilt both home and office. I know the risks of keyloggers even though it still goes on the payload it is delivered through is pretty easy to detect with the right security in place. This on speaking further to the fraud team at RBS is pointing more and more to a cloned card. And they are even narrowing down the ATM it could have been. Whats mental is its the 2nd time for almost certain I have had this happen simply by withdrawing from an cash machine. And on my own home systems download nothing apart from web pages ;-)

Yup thats the advise they gave me. When possible withdraw only from an in branch ATM. Which from now on I will be doing. In this day n age though you think they could come up with something tamper proof for ATMs located on high streets! It must cost them millions n millions per year in the refunds they have to make to customers getting ripped this way.

Are you sure you don't have some scamming Trojan on your PC?

Can't think of anything else to have it happen so often, especially when you are so careful all the time.

I received a message a few dyas ago,

Barclays has identified an issue with your debit card, a replacement will be with you in 3 days, continue to use your your current card,
2 days later I received a new card, No explanation or feck all, Now I have a few withdraws going back to that card and to top it off thats more changing cards on sites to my new one, more copy and sending it etc, Great back to square one sending cards over email,

But unsure what the reason is, I been with Barclays all my life and not one problem and use numerous times daily, The thing is these companys do not tell you untill its to late or a year later it gets leaked that details was compromised, Than they get a 500k fine what the fucks that to a bank

Other than that or a skimming device installed on an ATM, the only other possible way would be if Deeplay inadvertently signed up to a seeming legitimate casino; who's sole purpose was to make a quick scam.

I would say a Trojan would be the least likely with today's antivirus capabilities :)

Don't you be going worrying about those rich bankers Deeplay; that money will find it's way back into their pockets one way or another

Do you know how many people I know that owns shops, I can just about say all of them have been asked to add a skim machine, (when paying by card) I also no for a fact that its going on right now, I will not go into details but all I can stress is hide the numbers when you input, This does still not mean your card isnt being skimed but also take note that they now have key loggers so it does not matter if hiding inputs,

I also know that even contact less payment can be cloned, I can even clone you by contactless by standing next to you,

And like Dunover said you do not even need to use your card as bent employees will sort that out like they did he's

Nope not the case not the past year at least. I only sign up with casinos here or that I know to be legit.

Last casino I joined document uploads were secure online nothing through email. Im not saying this is due to a casino failing in the security dept.

I can at least upload money to skrill straight from the bank account via Trustly. As my primary bank demands that I input a customer number, a PIN code and two numeric passwords from a code card that changes occasionally and it asks two 4-digit numbers randomly, I'd say that makes it virtually impossible for anyone to take over any banking related fraud (though the option of someone breaking in to your house, stealing your access code card and breaking your fingers one by one to get the customer number and personal PIN.

Not that it helps you currently, but for the future.
