WEEKEND TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE TO PULL IN THE POKER BUSINESS

Thousands of poker players compete for lucrative prizes

Last weekend again saw thousands of poker players around the globe out and about on the big tournament sites, competing for million dollar and more prizes and the bragging rights for overcoming large starting fields.

The Poker Stars Sunday Millions was as usual the most popular tourney with 6 687 players on the virtual tables, hunting the top prize of $187 236 or a slice of the massive $1 337 400 prize pool, from which a total of 975 players benefitted. The winner was player 1st Gurre with the number 2 slot ($93,216.78) taken by Br1an2K5. The first man out on the final table, freeradical2 pocketed $10 966 and some loose change.

Full Tilt fielded 2 187 players for its Sunday $350 000 Guaranteed tournament, providing a prize pool of $437 400 from which 360 players finally cashed in. The big prize of $80 481.60 went to tourney winner TiltyZ with the second place, and $49,426.20 going to JWiggles.

    Ultimate Bet's Online Championship Event 3 - the $200+15 buy-in $250 000 Guaranteed tournament, attracted a field of 1 341 players of whom 140 were 'in the money' from a total prizepool of $268 200. blur5f6 pocketed the winner's check of $56 724 and change, whilst 2nd placed Adanthar1 collected $33 632.28.

Over at Bodog the smaller $100 000 Guaranteed event pulled in 954 players, from which 81 players made the money bubble. Badblood1 picked up the $25 000 main prize with LDizasta taking second at $16 000.
