Wagering Requirements - what is attractive realistically?

Hi everyone,

I have encountered various casinos offering all types of bonuses (being welcome bonuses, monthly bonuses, no deposit bonuses etc).

I was wondering what an attractive but fair wagering requirement would be for you to sign up and give a casino a try?

I have higlighted the fair aspect as ideally it would be 1x wagering.

I would personally think that 20 x deposit plus bonus is ok for me whilst I see much higher and lower too (15 x deposit plus bonus in some cases).

Obviously some games can't have 20 x deposit plus bonus requirements (like blackjack) due to low house edge.

Any thoughts on this?

30x Bonus max for it to be attractive, but ideally less :D - it's hard to say in terms of B+D as the WR (relative to the bonus) increases as the % decreases.

Personally, I think any deposit bonus where the wagering is higher than 20x(B+D) is unacceptable.

I also think that max cashouts on deposit bonuses are disgraceful and I never take them.

Insofar as reasonable is concerned, you can't go past Microgaming with the clearplay system ( most mg casinos have it). The bonus is also cashable which is even better.

When I first played online the average wagering requirements were 5xDB or even lower. *sigh* ahh the good old days.

Mach as stated above really.
Of course, it does depend on which games are allowed and at what % in the WR, as well at the % of the bonus.

For me the maximum for a 100% match, Slots bonus is (D+B)x20... as long as it's CASHABLE.

If we are talking about a Phantom (some call it Sticky) bonus, then the WR needs to be MUCH lower to make it attractive. A couple of new Rival casinos are offering (D+B)x13, which is still far too high IMHO, but at least it's better than the crazy (D+B) x25, x30 and even x40 I've seen at some other casinos!

The other "trap" to watch out for is high % bonuses; e.g. some players might think that a 400% match is better than a 100% match if the WR is the same, but actually it's much worse because you have to wager a much bigger total. The more you wager, the more cash you expose to the HA of the game, the more you lose.

I still list a couple of casinos which have very low WRs on my site; one with x0, one with x1 (both are sticky (not phantom) and are for Fruit Machines, not slots). After that, (D+B)x10 cashable is the lowest, and it's all upward from there...

I agree with Nifty that MG bonuses are still the best, and Ladbrokes still have the best one at (D+B)x10.5. Anyone who hasn't already taken this should get in quick IMHO as I suspect Lads may soon be changing to a different software provider... :(

Good point! Also whether it is up front or given after the wagering makes a big difference. The latter needing a much lower WR to be attractive.

There are different approaches that we as operators can take to the whole opening offer thing. Personally I prefer to take the risk of bonus hunters to give the legitimate players that come through a better experience, so our offer is only 10x deposit + bonus, albeit it's an afterwager bonus.

So long as the maths make sense to a certain degree and the bonus is treated as marketing spend, ie) an acquisition cost, then there is no real reason to have insane wagering requirements. If someone comes in and abuses our opening offer, they won't be given any more, simple!

That's an excellent attitude for an operator to have.

It astounds me sometimes when places add crazy terms and clauses to bonuses to stop bonus hunters, whilst completely alienating real players.

Thanks for all the responses guys - much appreciated.

I always look for 20 x deposit plus bonus but 25 x bonus is even better ;)

Goes without saying but the bonus needs to be cashable in my opinion.

Something attractive means both you and the casino are at even grounds when it comes to the bonuses and wagering requirements. It will depend on you on how you will weigh those things. Some offer such bonuses but for some certain conditions.

Just for fun - what is the biggest WR on slots you have ever encountered and where?

From top of my head

Inglorious 1st Place would go to Tower Gaming. Recently they had "Escape Winter" bonus with 160xB on slots :eek2::eek2:

Oh, and Jackpot 6000 was excluded too.
Great way to discourage people from internet gambling altogheter...

JackpotFactory casinos are best by far for wager requirment... Yes its x30 but they have the ClearPlay bonus system which means say you win 500.00 but only wagered say x10 at this point you can cash out and keep all winnings just that you will loose the rest of the bonus amount.
Not many casino works this way, most of them you have to wager the hole x30 before withdrawl.
I find AllSlots the best, Try them out not only they have the clearplay bonus system
they also give you 10 percent cashback on all deposits and they have many other match bonuses etc.....There the best!!!
