Licensing Correction Videoslots Review correction

Hi Everyone,

On the 7th July 2014 Netent sent out an update regarding restricted countries. Due to this, we were forced to block several countries from playing Netent games including Canada.
As we have got many complaints regarding Canada being blocked at Videoslots.com but not at other casinos, we asked Netent regarding this and how we could be compliant to offer Netent games to players in Canada.

Netent's answer was the following:
"Canada is a black-listed market where Netent games must not be offered. NetEnt has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards this. Netent is currently contacting the operators individually to remind them of their responsibility to follow their contracts, which state that no traffic from Canada should be accepted. NetEnt reserves the rights to terminate the contract and claim damage should they breach it, as illegal activities might harm NetEnt’s strategy."

This is the information that we have received directly from Netent and this is what we are following. We cannot comment on anything outside of our own business and agreements.

Thanks for all your feedback!

This was last July. It's now January, and so far there is little sign of this "zero tolerance" policy being used with other operators. Other softwares have pulled out of Canada, and they have quickly managed to get ALL operators to comply, yet this is something Netent seem unable (or unwilling) to do.

The difference might be in how Netent supply the games, something that prevents them from having control of the switch, so rather than directly switching off the games for Canadians, they have to resort to sending polite requests to the operators, who so far have been ignoring them. It's also possible that these other operators have taken the view that Netent isn't legally allowed to change the rules like this during the term of an existing contract, and so are standing their ground by continuing to offer Netent games to Canadians until their current contracts expire. It will then be down to Netent to take legal action to force operators on current contracts to make the changes. There have been no legal changes in Canada, this is merely an internal policy change at Netent, so those on existing contracts struck on the basis that most games could be used for Canadian players will see it as Netent breaching the terms of a contract, rather than the other way around.

Videoslots may be the unfortunate victim of timing, having to renew their contract with Netent shortly after they updated the policy, hence could only get a contract that prohibited Canadians from playing.

As contracts come up for renewal, it's likely that these other operators will announce the cessation of Netent for Canadian players, as no doubt the new policy will be written into the terms of the new contract.

What we need now is a rep from one of the many other casinos still allowing Canadians to play Netent why they feel they don't have to obey this edict from Netent from last July, which Netent have assured Videoslots has gone out to all operators in the expectation that they will make the necessary changes straight away.

If there is a Netent stand at ICEi next month, it's a question to put to them directly.

The majority of the operators that have ceased to be in Canada is due to Canadian ties or ownership, we have other options here, BCLC,OLG (British Columbia Lottery Corp, Ontario Lottery and gaming Corp) have online casinos that offer WMS, Bally, IGT etc.... I have yet to see or hear of any laws prohibiting gaming in Canada, unlike the US lottery/casino winnings are non taxable in Canada, you get what you win.

No NetEnt...Say It Ain't True!

Canadian player - no NetEnt! That means that I wasted my freebies, too. I mean, I guess I would look the other way and gladly pocket a few hundred dollars on a NetEnt game where the casino is allowing Canadian players to play and win on NetEnt but it's not something I would willingly pursue if it were clear as to NetEnt not permitted in Canada.:sob:

I almost don't believe it. I tend to believe true stuff.

I can play netent games at Betsson, betAT, slotty vegas, guts, casinoluck, nextcasino, playhippo and 20 kajillion other casinos that I haven't tapped into.

When do the netent licenses expire, is there a set month when I won't be allowed to play these games?

I have had free spin promos on cosmic fortune and megafortune with jackpots active onscreen, if I hit a jackpot I am pretty sure it will be paid.
