Hi,

Not sure where to put this so it will be seen. The Bingo thread doesn't look like it gets much traffic.

Ok,

I have not played at Vic's Bingo for probably close to 5 years.

I did not have a cell phone when I was playing there.

They called my home, left no message, then right away called my cell.

They have called in the past but I have just pushed "ignore" because I had no idea who that number belonged

to.

Well, today I answered.

Demanded to know who they were and where they got my cell number.

Of course they did not answer about the number but they did say they were Vic's bingo.

There are only one, maybe two on-line places that have my cell number. Actually, I think the main one is

paste&pay.

I instructed the caller to NEVER call me again!

Just burns my butt!

We shall see!

The number calling is : 01127105008494

In case you would like to check it against your irritating callers numbers!

I also just got a phone call from this number asking directly for me, i refused to give out any information until they would identify who they were as this is an international number. Naturally all they would say is my name for an online account and that was it, they would not tell me from what company so I told them sorry without telling me who u are and what online company you are calling about I cannot help you. wayyy too secretive, advise extreme caution.

That sounds like phone phishing. They have managed to obtain some information, but are trying to get some more out of you.

If this was a genuine call from a casino based on you having an account with them, they would be trying to get you to come back and play, and not telling you which casino to come back and play is hardly very helpful.

As it's the same number as above, it may be that the player database from Vic's bingo has been stolen, and players on it are being contacted by these scammers. It may well have fallen into the hands of a rogue casino/bingo operator, and they are trying to recruit players by deceiving them into believing they had a prior relationship with them, or one of their "partner sites".

In the first case, they phoned the player's cell, which they didn't have when they played at Vic's bingo, so it shows they have already been adding to the information that originated from the Vic's bingo database.

This is odd. On Friday I had a text from a bingo site (forwarded it to 7726 which is keypad for SPAM) that I'd never heard of or played at. Like I've said before, many call centres and CS are paid commission. They move, like in the home improvements industry from one employer to another. Often they relieve the previous employer of data along the way, so as to get a good profitable start at the new one. Illegal, but it has always gone on and always will.

This will keep on happening until robust action is taken. Rather than telling victims how they can mitigate the problem, such as registering for "do not call" services, they should go after the call centre operators, and apply very stiff penalties such that there is a risk of the business going bankrupt if they are caught doing this. Individuals involved should also be prosecuted, and there should be the option of prison sentences, and for the top bosses, disqualifications from running companies, which if disobeyed, would result in an automatic prison sentence for "contempt of court".

The thing that got me was, I did NOT have a cell phone back when I played there and did not play there after I got one.

I would like to know just how they got my cell number in the first place.
