Hi all

Firstly if this is the wrong section then I'm sorry and if I'm breaking any forum rules then once again sorry but I'm really needing some advice here

Right ok so where do I start?

So I signed up to this casino a few days ago. I managed to turn a 20 quid bonus into 300 quid real money... I withdrew and that I thought would be the last of it

Next day I received an email telling me I had to verify myself. I unfortunately don't have photo ID (passport or driver's license) but I had numerous other forms of good proper identification. But nope they wouldn't have it even tho other casino's have been very helpful and got me through this process before

So I thought ok well it's obviously them just being them and rules are rules? So in that time a lot of emails where sent back and forth and then I start getting emails saying my account will be suspended!

Firstly, what?? how the hell would I even get or apply for photo ID in a measly 72 hours? Literally have it in my hands in that time? impossible!

Secondly, why do so many casino's ask for verification when you seem to win something? They take ya money easily when really you should be verified from the start when you first make a deposit! I could've ploughed loads of money in and they wouldn't have cared until I won something!

I'm just looking for any advice here? Have I been treated unfairly? I've never had to deal with this before from any casino and for 300 quid which is rightfully in my opinion mine just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and then on top having my account unfairly suspended

I'm sure you pros will say that's the T&C's, etc and there's nothing you can do, but if there is any advice I would be more than happy to hear it

Starting with your question about why casinos only ask for ID when you win then i am afraid this is par for the course.It is likely to change in the near future if the UKGC have their way but at present there are very few casinos that ask for verification before you deposit.
Passport or driving licence are the standard documents that are requested but if you don't have either it may be worth sending a private message.Vera & John are accredited at CM so there should be an active forum rep who may be able to help with advice about other acceptable documentation.

Unfortunately as you have found out most casinos are happy to let you deposit and only ask for ID on withdrawal.

As for photo ID most casinos want it tho some will verify without it. That's why i love bookies sites they verify you online if they can and you don't need all this document crap.

I would not be too worried about the suspension of account tho as i think that is common if a player can not verify their account in a few days of getting asked.

I would say pm the Rep first but only one i can find has not been online since last year maybe someone else can tell you if their is a rep and who it is.

My advice for you is:

Next time you open a account, try to verify your account before you deposit if you don’t have a photo id (passport/driver license)

And for now send a pm to the rep here and explain it, maybe you’re lucky.
Or get that photo-id and ask the rep to add a note on your account “waiting for ID”

Surely they can't just say "we're going to close your account within 72 hours if you don't send an ID"? It's a UK licensed casino.

from what I read, they didn't close his acct..it's supended ie locked, until such time as he provides sufficient ID

Oh ok. Perhaps the OP also misinterpreted what they meant then? Because in that case @Kurisu, you have more than 72 hours to get an ID.

Slightly off-topic, but how do you not have a photo-ID? Like how do you identify yourself? Are non-photo IDs valid anywhere? Where I live, I think all forms of ID include a photo.

If you don't have a passport or driving licence in the UK then you have no photo ID as the UK does not make it law that you have an id card. My mother has neither of these so in the very unlikely event she ever gambled online she could not provide photo ID.

There is photo ID but it all takes time and you are right I should've got ID a while back but never had many issues so kinda just thought I'd be ok. Foolish on my part but I honestly also thought they would be a bit more helpful then they were, naive on my part again

Yeah they only locked it but I'm just surprised with the way they have suspended me as while I've used casinos before im still new to that kinda treatment

I think if a casino insists on ONLY photo ID then it should be spelled out to people at sign up, or at least before first deposit. My eldest daughter doesn't drive and doesn't have a passport, neither did my mother, and there are quite a few in the same situation.

Not sure why you think getting one would be a priority, as he says, other casinos have worked with him to get round it, which is likely to have been other paper based ID, along with a couple of utility bills/bank statements, therefore he probably thought all casinos would be the same. You can get a mortgage for £100's of thousands without photo ID, so being allowed to withdraw your money from a casino shouldn't be that much of a problem. It's worth bearing in mind a provisional driving license isn't accepted as ID in a lot of places so getting a driving license could involve taking lessons and passing a test. An idea of what banks can accept is here

Exactly right!

Others helped me a lot more than they did. I offered so many forms of ID, offered to take photos of myself with ID, including birth certificate, bills, and tons more but nope still not good enough

Whoops, I was being unclear. I meant that question to OP, as in how does he personally not have a photo ID and how does he identify himself without it. I'm well aware that they exist in all countries (in form of for Driver's license, passport, ID card etc.)

Vera & John can be difficult I had an issue where my card expired and I cut it up then made a withdraw using my replacement and they wanted my old card and I said I cut it up as soon as the new one arrived and trying to get the withdraw was very difficult in the end I had to get the bank to write me a letter. It was one of the first times i had won over a £1000 and was panicing when they kept asking for things I could not provide.

This is where some UK operators are coming unstuck. Amazed there haven't been more cases gone to the UKGC on this. As soon as you deposit funds the casino has 72 hours to verify your age. To do so they must confirm 3 items. One, your date of birth, if you are over 18 and if you are on the voters roll. If any of those 3 don't add up the casino MUST ask for photo ID from you and freeze the account if not confirmed in 72 hours from 1st deposit. Some casinos do these checks in the background so you don't see it but are then asked for KYC docs when withdrawing which is different. However, some casinos will go with an auto verification even if date of birth doesn't match if someone is on the voters roll(you have to be over 18 to be on it). This is where problems come in.

I like this idea. The UKGC from May put in that casinos must fully verify a players age and identity before a deposit is allowed. Sense at last and probably means you wouldn't need the card system.

It also works as an app, if you don`what it send to you. We also use to login to doctor and other personal stuff. Works really good.
