Vegas Frontier and FortuneLounge Spam

In fact, it would strongly be to Fortune Lounger and Belle Rock's advantage to actively monitor spam levels, because the quickest way to stop spam being sent as marketing efforts on their behalf is to STOP SIGNING THE CHECKS.

Considering that they want to cut back on their affiliate expenses, it's odd that they don't save themselves some money by justifiably stiffing the affiliates who break their contract terms and devalue their brand name.

Allowing some affiliates to spam while cutting others out of the program and keeping the players also brings up another of my favorite points: the problem of the level playing field. Affiliate Casino Prophet is being given an unfair market advantage over all the affliliates who don't spam.

What GreedyGirl said.

I threw out an ENTIRE subscription list because it had transpired that not all of the people on the list were double-opt-in. This was done by REQUEST, not because I was forced to throw out that list.

To say that I am riled up is a big, big understatement. And VP, I would urge you to be a little bit more active and put your foot down very hard rather than come up with what I consider to be very feeble responses by comparison to other issues you have handled.

This is a battle that only YOU will lose, because either we players (or "honest" webmasters) will simply just stop playing - and forward all emails to Spamcop - or you do the right thing for the sake of the players (or "honest" webmasters) and refuse to do any further business with this publisher who is known to EVERYONE - but you - as a spammer.

Honoring unsubscribe requests is about the worst possible avenue you can take with this one because all he has to do is pay you lip service like he has done with many other operators in the past - and you will let him go scot-free.

Not a wise move in my opinion. And if you have no influence over this - then by all means call the attention of the people who ARE responsible for this, and do it with a loud voice AND a big stick.

Yep.

And stopping the spamming is a very easy thing to do. No one will spam on your behalf if you don't pay for it. It's not like you are a victim in this.

The other problem here is that you hurt yourself with this. With all the other recent problems just having barely been smoothed over, being knocked off line due to spamming yet another time is likely to hurt you big time.

Affiliates would like things to get back to normal and work with a reliable program that has no service interruptions and can be counted on to be fair.

Lots of people have given you a second chance, and you can see by the threads at CAP about the spam that affiliates feel the same way about it as players do. Is it really profitable enough to take all this risk?

Hey Fortune Lounge,

As you have probably noted, these spam mails are coming form one source - and we know who it is.

Somebody needs to do something about this today by close of business. Thanks!

I should have noted that when I addressed "Fortune Lounge" in the above post - I was addressing the company as a whole, and not directing it solely to Wim our FL rep in the forum.

Sorry for any unneeded stress :D

Hi Bryan

No problem.

I am the Fortune Lounge representative here and I am therefore responsible to ensure that issues raised here are dealt with - whether it is within or beyond my control.

Please be assured that we are working on this issue with utmost priority and concern.

mary: Continuing to post these mails here serves no purpose. We all know by now where these are coming from and we are trying our damndest to do something about it.

I asked you to send me some mails which I did not receive in the end - for whatever reason. All I want is your e-mail address so I can check with the publisher why you are receiving these mails if you have already "unsubscibed".

Unless you want to continue receiving these mails and posting them in this thread, I would appreciate the information I requested.

I disagree.

I used the "unsubscribe" function for months with no result.

I sent you fifteen emails, every one of which contained my email address.

Sure, by now I've no doubt that somebody wants to contact Shawn and make sure I'm not receiving these emails.

That doesn't address the problem that Fortune Lounge and Belle Rock are paying a spammer to harrass everybody with an Internet connection with five emails a day.

I'm going to continue to post the spam I get. I'm not going to get my problem solved and let Fortune Affiliates continue to pretend they are guiltless. Fortune Affiliates has the power here to stop this. They choose not to.

E-mail SPAM compliancy checklist
The following checklist is a guide to help ensure that your mail complies with the CAN SPAM act and general SPAM laws. This is a guide only and Fortune Affiliate does not guarantee deliverability or full SPAM compliancy by following this guide (although it should definitely help!).

Email Campaign Anti-Spam Guide

The email content:

Add your U.S. Postal Service address to all e-mails you send.
Determine the recipients permission status. If any were added in any method other than opt-in, you are required to include a clear notice in a commercial message stating that your message is an advertisement or solicitation. If your list is opt-in or double opt-in, you are exempt from this provision.
From and subject lines are not misleading.
Include a clear and conspicuous unsubscribe (opt-out) internet based response mechanism in every e-mail.
Confirm that the content of the email matches recipients choices (interests selected).
Provide them a way to receive some types of e-mail from you while blocking other types along with a global unsubscribe option to stop all future e-mail from your organization.
If you are sending to a non-house list, be sure the list source did not harvest e-mail addresses or use automated means to randomly generate them.
This will ensure if you are defending a spam suit, damages arent aggravated (increased).
Mail that contains sexually-oriented material must include the warning SEXUALLY- EXPLICIT:
Before you send:

Merge/purge list sources and process all unsubscribe and suppression requests ensuring you have complied with the max 10-day processing.
Contact any other organizations you have marketing relationships with to obtain their list of unsubscribe requests about your brand. Collect unsubscribe requests from all channels (your telemarketing office or sales dept).
Check technical integrity of the server sending the email no open relays, false headers, etc
Ensure your opt-out links work for 30 days after the date of your email.
Have an objective person who is not connected with the campaign read the email and confirm that it is not misleading and that it has been properly edited.
After you send:

Review ISP spam complaint reports and take action to attack problem areas. For more information on ISP reports, see Pointnclickinc.com library.
A "transactional or relationship message" email that facilitates an agreed-upon transaction or updates a customer in an existing business relationship may not contain false or misleading routing information, but otherwise is exempt from most provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act. For more information on Can-Spam visit www.FTC.gov/spam and select Rules & Acts.
Please feel free to contact us for more info or for anything at all to do with SPAM.

VPops -

Just for your information, Fortune Lounge and Fortune Affiliates have implemented a spam filter which has filtered out the spam emails we have been forwarding (in my case, to Fortune Affiliates) for many months. Talk about the irony...

Needless to say, I believe you should be apologizing to Mary for a fault in your own system which has prevented you from receiving what you asked for - and perhaps much, much more.

Also - "utmost" is a word that Fortune has worn out long, long ago. The only word I believe would carry some weight would be "immediate".

You may not appreciate my barbs, or my very straight-talking attitude - but its for YOUR (meaning the group, not you personally) own good, not mine.

Filtering on Belize in the body of the e-mail works well at the moment.

I have had e-mails bouce back from casinos, because genuine e-mail sent to CS were considered spam by their filtering software. I still have not had a satisfactory explanation why casinos don't automatically whitelist depositing players.

I have another question to Fortune Lounge and Belle Rock. While they mention the rather weak American CANSPAM Act, why don't they require compliance with European data protection laws for e-mails sent to Europe? For example, it is illegal to send unsolicited commercial e-mail to private e-mail addresses in the UK. Even better, they could require affiliate and "publichers" only to use double opt-in lists.

Notice that Casino Affiliates requires the sender of spam to have a valid postal address in each email.

There's no postal address for Casino Prophet/ Shawn Bercovitz in the emails he sends out.

So, we've been told that the reason the "opt-out" function doesn't work was because of a glitch and now it's fixed so he's in compliance with their requirements.

Did a glitch remove the postal address too?

Ah, yes, another Bercovitz number using the Vegas Frontier email address.

Just got the second copy of the strange affliliate-link lacking email.

As for your question Meister, I don't know if the email address works. It's still not a postal address as required by Fortune Affiliates even if it does work.

Yes, this is the third and fourth copies of the same email that I have received today, the one that serves no marketing purpose whatsoever because it has no affiliate link. Spam is annoying enough, but spam that doesn't even work, how sad is that? :what:

I did not receive your fifteen mails. Period. You could have used the PM function on this site to send these to me.

You originally complained about receiving unwanted mail and not being able to unsubscribe. I requested your information so I could check why you are still receiving mails if you have then unsubscribed. You are not prepared to co-operate with me on this which makes this look more and more like a personal vendetta against the publisher for whatever reason.

You are welcome to continue spamming this forum with the mails you receive from this publisher. Hopefully the participants in this forum will have enough patience to deal with this as you are going to continue receiving these mails until you supply me with your details.

So let me get this straight. If we don't supply you with our information so you can get our email off the email list of this pain in the ass spammer then you've washed hands of this? By giving the spammer the email address to remove also tells the spammer it's a live valid email address. I never signed up these emails and I shouldn't have to unsubscribe to something I never signed up for. Are you doing nothing else about this issue? Is FL going to continue to pay this spammer?

**Guys, guys.. and girls!
The only way these matters can be resolved amicably, is for all parties involved to work together! I know it is VERY frustrating receiving rubbish, especially when you ask for it to STOP!

I dont think the rep is saying that If we don't supply you with our information so you can get our email off the email list of this pain in the ass spammer then you've washed hands of this? I think what is being said is Please, dont be silly about this! I CAN NOT HELP YOU if I DONT have the information I need! It become frustrating on both sides when there is a miscommunication...

No, I dont work for them.. but I have been through this process myself, and once everything has been submitted, it got a LOT better.
Try and keep your cool! **

It got a LOT better? Meaning you still get the spam? I'm pissed that I'm getting it in the first place when I never signed up for these emails.

Confused

Okay, you know who is doing it. As mentioned before, can't you just tell this jerk his affiliate check is not coming because of this? He's not going to do it for free? How tough can that be? I don't think getting individual email address information here is going to solve anything. He's probably sending it to a LOT of people (and pissing them off as well). Or is it working, are you gaining revenue from this? I really don't think FL is that way, I think they want to do the right thing, but I don't understand the hold up. It is a minor annoyance to me, its the point here.

I got another one today for Platinum Play.

I can contribute a really odd experience with the FL spam emails...

When I signed up at Fortune Lounge some years ago, they only accepted *.com email adresses at that time.
Or in other words:
I tried to signup with my regular *.de email adress - but was rejected. Some weeks (and several tries) later I was told by support, that they don't accept *.de email adresses.
Solution was easy...I created an Hotmail account (PURELY for casinos....and with the exception of Intercasino Germany ONLY used for Fortune Lounge casinos) - and everything was fine.

Over the months and years my hotmail account got flooded with dozens and hundreds of FL spam mails - the usual crap....offering me signup bonuses, there I already had an account at, etc. etc.

Some months ago I found out, that they obviously 'solved' that *.de "problem" - so together with their support I switched my (casino account related) email adress to my usual *.de email adress.

Now the MOST surprising thing:
Not only they stopped to send me the regular casino emails to my hotmail.com adress ...the FL-related spam emails sent to my hotmail account went to nearly zero as well!!

Smells a little bit fishy, if you ask me...

Halix: There is nothing fishy here.

For some time players from Denmark were not allowed in our casinos. Therefore all registrations with a .de e-mail address were rejected.

A while ago we "unbanned" Denmark players and it is therefore not an issue any more.

The fact that the e-mails stopped going to your hotmail address is because of the address change and the fact that you are receiving less mails is probably because you do not qualify for these promotions that are mailed to certain segments of players.

Halix is in Germany. .de is for German addresses - .dk is for the evil Danes.

I know, I know - they all look alike :D

fortunelounge,
"nice" to see, that after several years you confirm my assumption...
(At that time no one could say me the reason for that *.de ban...)

PLUS:
You obviously made a BIG FAT mistake at that time.

DE is the country code for Germany (DE = Deutschland).
Denmark has the country code DK - thus danish email adresses should end with *.dk.

So, you either blocked the wrong country (regarding email adresses) - or you blocked both danish and german email adresses.

Funny.

BIG FAT mistake is a total understatement.

The filter between my brain and my hands is not working today....

My sincere apologies. Lesson learnt.

Yes, we did not allow Danish players for some time and we never denied it. We never blocked Germany (.de) and I cannot explain why your registration on the .de mail address did not go through at the time.

Now I will just crawl into my hole and stay there for the rest of the day.

What is being done about this idot? Nothing as far as I can tell since I had 10 emails today from the jerk! The trick of trying to mix words in the subject line is not working for him, I just delete them all on contact.

I am getting real sick of it as I am sure others are, I would be very concerned about what sort of trouble this jerk is about to cause you, with this many complaints, I am sure there are many including myself about to take further steps to stop this spamming!
