Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006

Well, call this a knee-jerk reaction if you like , but I have pulled my affiliate links from my personally-owned series of domains related to online gambling and left only links to my namesake.

Given the sheer volume of documents there are to edit spread out on 3 US based hosts, all I have to say is thank god for find-and-replace.

I feel it was wise to do so...I am a humble married fella with 4 children to think about that lives in the US...better safe than sorry.

Though my sites (for now) are virtually worthless given their gambling based domain names and content, at least I have a source for backlinking spread across 3 hosts LOL

I just hope the hosts don't disagree with domain names like find-online-casino, gamble-casino, internet-slot-game etc etc

On a lighter note...I bought playlegalpoker.com !!!

FRIDAY OCTOBER 13TH- deadline to pass or veto

Wouldn't you know it? Friday the 13th is the deadline for the President to pass or veto the bill in which Frist's provision is attached.

The bill was presented to Bush on October 3rd..under the legislative process of enactment of a law the President has 10 days in which to sign or veto and/or move for reconsideration or ask for a postponement.

I will post this under similar threads so all can see.

Let's just hope it's a "Friday the 13th" for Frist and his supporters...not for us!

But Catholic system basically forces it's morality upon people. From Tupper Saussy's Link Removed ( Old/Invalid)
Westland, I think you are entitled to your opinion. Go for it!
Personally, I think this is soooooo wrong, Im a Catholic, you either accept their doctren or you dont..The Vatican dosnt take kindly to the religious getting involved with politics either. It's good old boy system in dealing with the scum preists is pretty much wiped out now. (thank goodness). Now, if we can get rid of the good old boy system in our Nations capital that allowed child abuse to continue in its own quarters, well..then we are seeing progress. ! I would like to see more concentration on issues that are harming our society like, human trafficing, child porn, education system (or lack of it) ect. :) Sorry if I got off thread!...and sorry about spelling!

This was just too much for me!!

"Gambling over the Internet is for people who possess no moral compass!" -- Rep Mark Foley

Reading the above in one of the posts sent me over the edge! And now the bugger is hiding out in a drug rehab and claims to have been molested as a child, as if that gives him an excuse. I know where his moral compass is pointed, all right. We need to get our children out of Washington!

Iran's supreme leader Khameini: Don't masturbate during Ramadan...

- see yall, it's just a matter of perspective... and you thought the US was strict - at least was can still masturbate during Ramadan (well, so long as Frist remains on board).

Day of reckoning announced

It was announced today that President George W. Bush will sign the Port Security Bill into law next Friday, October 13.

So, I guess the undecideds have 1 week to decide.

How apt to be a Friday the 13th....

Playtech out

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but it looks like Playtech has decided and they're out. What's most relevant here is that they're esentially telling their licencees to stop taking US players.

So, Playtech, Crypto and Boss are all out. Microgaming has kept a very low profile, no idea what they plan to do but it looks like they have one of the last finger's in the dyke.

P.S. Spearmaster, I think you found it... no I have no idea where they got that. I've seen 3 or 4 predicitions about the signiture and so far all have been wrong, but I'd bet signes it sometime next week.

Not yet confirmed - EOG has not published the source of its information.

I agree. Thus far I have not seen this report anywhere else, although the Friday 13 date was brought up by Cynthia as the deadline for the presidential signing ...or veto....of the bill and its online gambling financial measures attachment.

If ever there was a vindication for private companies with strong cash and assets positions in this industry to eschew public listings, its been the happenings of the last week imo.

The media misinterpretations and general ignorance has been matched only by the scaremongering and panic of ill-advised investors, showing just how vulnerable publicly quoted companies can be in this volatile sector. You've got to feel some sympathy for those public companies that have had to make premature decisions like excluding the US player to try and preserve what's left of their companies.

I imagine that Playtech would have been in a far more flexible position in this crisis had it not gone public earlier this year, and that probably applies to most of the other outfits who went after the prestige and capital raising possibilities of a public listing, too.

The private turnkey providers have the potential to do rather well in a commercial sense out of this, I think. Especially the well-established top tier outfits.

What worries me most is that people planning to take action may gear their timing towards Friday - and then all of a sudden Bush signs it on Tuesday. That's why I wanted to know the actual source of the news.

If anyone is planning action, the time is NOW.

Anyone posted this yet? It's Frist's View on the Act (from sbcbaptistpress.org):

Old / Expired Link

The new law passed because members of the pro-family movement -- including a great many Southern Baptists -- brought the issue to the attention of both Democrats and Republicans.

Internet gambling has grown out of control...This hurts families. Although Internet gambling did not have a prominent place on either party’s radar screen just a few years ago, its explosive growth and potential for damaging families made it a very important issue to me and many others in Congress.

So there you go...it's not about the money after all!! Actually I feel slightly sorry for the Baptists in that they are being used to cover up the real reasons this Bill passed. On the other hand...!

And credit goes to someone at CAP for finding this gem list if contributors to Frist's campaign!!!!

Old / Expired Link.

This is outragous when you think about it. Here we are in the 21st century and politicians can still be bought for cash. Unreal.

They really should have done this while Frist was trying to get it passed, but I'm glad to see a bit of action. I'd not anywhere near DC or I'd join in (with that one and all the others, there's a lot to protest these days).

Looks like they're prediciting Friday the 13th as well for a sign date.
