Unknown deposits to Victor Chandler

Dormant account
Hi all,

I am new to the forum, good to be here.

On around the 25th June I made several deposits to Victor Chandler. I have now just been going through my bank statement and my account with VC and it appears there were 3 more deposits made on the 26th June which I did not make. I have been out of the country working for the last 3 months so am just now going through my finances with a fine tooth comb.

Is it worth taking this up with them? What is the correct procedure please?

Many thanks,
Matt

Welcome :)

I've played a fair bit there & (thankfully) haven't had the same issue, so I can't give any advice on the correct procedure.

I would say it's absolutely worth your while pursuing this with them & perhaps first step would be contacting their support. (They do have a rep here, but it appears she deals more on the afiliates side of things). All dealings I've had with them (verification & cashouts) have been effortless & the people that I've had interactions with seemed pretty efficient.

Hope it all works out & please keep us posted

Thank you, I will raise it with VC help first, I have not raised this with my bank yet as I have a new card anyway (not my choice but Lloyds updated all cards since the split with TSB) so I am not concerned by further fraud.

Sometimes the deposits don't show up until a few days later. Check you statement against the VC account history.

Thanks for the reply, I have checked and they did leave my account several days later, but on the 25th itself I did not deposit to my account which is what VC account history is showing. Can VC check the IP address the transaction was made from?

You say you never deposited on the 25th itself.

But had you played and deposited anytime in the previous week?.

I have not had money taken from my account until a week after I had made the deposit and that had the date of a week after I had played.

Yes I had and those transactions had gone through ok, I am not disputing those. But the 3 after I am because they were for significantly more than I usually deposit.

I hope you didn't lose your head, bet more and are trying to charge-back deposits that you know you made. Excuse the cynical view, but we've seen all sorts on here before.

It's pointless us advising you as the answer lies between you, your bank and VC.

No charge-back, as I said I have not contacted my bank.

I just want to know what the process is.....

Just to be clear I am well aware that charge-back under the wrong circumstances is fraud, my question is with a legitimate problem what is the best way to deal with it?

Any competent casino will have the IP logged yes, as well as the games played - if neither match your usual activity you have a starting point. I assume there is nobody else who may have accessed your computer? Does your card require "verified by visa" additional authentication to deposit?

If you are sure, after going right back over your history, that these deposits were not made by you, it's a case of raising the issue with VC internally.

The next step should be to PAB here. This should be done BEFORE you involve your bank, and you should not wait so long that time limits imposed by your bank force your hand when the PAB is still ongoing.

If you didn't make the deposits, then someone who has access to both your VC account and your card details did.

Is it possible that you were "under the influence" at the time, such as alcohol, and that you acted out of character as a result?

Many people do things that are "out of character" when drunk, and they genuinely don't remember doing it when they sober up. They do not even believe they did it when told they did!

The LEAST likely scenario is that someone went to all the trouble of hacking your VC account and card, but decided to play and lose the money, rather than steal it from you.

Welcome to the forum.

If you are on the up and up... please pardon us, Matt. We have seen everything here, and are somewhat jaded. Please do not take it personally.

Save copies of your bank statement, and your transactions list from VC. Contact support, explain the problem and ask who/where to email these copies.

If they do not respond almost immediately, please contact the casino Rep here at the forum (found in the I Gaming Rep button at the top of the forum page) via private message - link will be found on the left of the rep's contact page. If you haven't had a reply from the Rep by evening, you may want to PAB as there is surely a time crunch at the bank for reporting/researching disputed charges.

Good luck.

Thanks for all of your replies, and I appreciate that everything has been seen here before.

I have already received a response from VC, they have advised me to raise a chargeback despite me not mentioning that to them.

Is this normal, that they would advise me to do this, or should I push VC more on it first?

I absolutely 100% definitely would NOT do any charge-back except as an extreme last resort and if it's a significant amount of money.

Your problem would then not end with VC - you could find yourself getting on a "blacklist" which could effect your future use on any online purchase - gambling related or not :eek2:

I'm not familiar with VC's accounting screen, but I assume you can view all your deposit history?
If so, have you gone through each and every deposit and cross-referenced it to your card so that you are 100% certain these transaction were not made by you?
If so, Pitch-A-Bitch right now and let Max do his stuff

My first advice is that you need to reconsider your playing habits. Here is the list of accredited casinos. I would stick to this list.
Link Outdated / Removed

I can't imagine a casino telling you to initiate a charge back unless your in a pissing contest with them at this point where they say you made the deposits, you are denying it and the conversation is not very cordial.

If this is the case, and your 100% sure that you, your significant other, child or other person with access to your data did not make these deposits then I would PAB.

Make sure you read this completely and understand it especially the part about no longer posting about the issue.

If this is just a matter of CS on crack then I would ask to speak to a manager and tell them that their team is telling you do a chargeback. That is not the way to resolve this and you would like to have them investigate it and return the funds to your card or put them in your casino account and allow you to withdraw them back to the card at no charge.

This was the email from VC. When playing previously a 3D screen has come up, but does NOT ask me for specific information, only a security check bar goes across, and no password or other information is filled in.

Dear Mr Smith,

Thank you for your recent contact.

Our security department have checked the deposits in question and can see that these transactions had passed the 3d secure. This means that it passed the banks security procedure. For this you would need to raise a chargeback request on these from the bank itself. I'm afraid there isn't much we can do from our end.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Marc

Hello, conversation was extremely cordial, infact it was a 2 email exchange and there reply was what I posted above.

I still have not contacted my bank, and since I received the email from them they have now closed my account?? I have asked them why, but no response as yet.

Were you able to see those transactions with funds posted in your casino account or were there only funds removed from your credit card and never posted to your casino account?

Latest is that my account has been suspended due to my report of fraudulent activity, until I send documents that they have requested and filled in the 3rd party authorisation form (Notice of liability acceptance) - which I don't wish to do.

They have told me that they will not re-open the account until after a full investigation. But what I don't understand is their previous email as you can see from my last post says there is not much they can do from their end, and I must raise charge-back with my bank. So what does this all mean now, they are going to investigate or not?

And how can I now access my account history should I need it?

Any further advice would be appreciated.

You are now a big security risk to the casino that's why. In fact you're sounding hopelessly naïve for even asking 'why'.

You have alleged to them that deposits made via 'Verified By Visa' (which means even someone with access to your VC account couldn't deposit) are void and fraudulent. They aren't going to touch a client who has denied making such deposits.
They will now be expecting chargebacks. From now on wherever you play you will be signing faxback forms for your deposits as extra security if they don't suspend your account first.
I suspect you are here seeking advice on how to successfully chargeback deposits.
Your funeral.

How could they not deposit? There was no 'verified by visa' on previous deposits, I did not have to enter any of my bank details on an additional page. Same goes for mobile deposits, enter password for my VC account, the 3 digit sec code, and the amount that was it.

I am not seeking advice to successfully charge-back, I am asking advice to how I can resolve this issue without having to do so...

I may well sound naive, but I am new to experiencing these kind of issues, hence why I have come here for advice, or is this forum only for experienced players?

Seriously this is your BEST chance of getting to the bottom of your issue.
There is absolutely no reason not to PAB, unless you really are a fraudster and are trying to fool the forum into helping you.

If you did not already check the history, you need to request it via their support - ask them to provide you a history log showing IP addresses of all deposits, and what was done with the questionable deposits, IE what bets were placed, which games were played etc. If by some co-incidence these happen to be the same casino games you always play, thats going to be strange - but on the other hand it could give you the extra proof your in need of too, should the history be extremely different to your usual activity.

As for the 3d secure, I've never heard of it only showing a bar going across, and their e-mail states that the transactions passed the procedure - its possible they are saying that, as the bank has allowed the transactions through without doing the correct 3d secure checks, then liability for the transactions falls to the bank and not the casino - they have implemented the 3d secure procedure, but for whatever reason your card or bank is not using it correctly. Your bank will be able to tell you if this is the case though, or if you password/dob/card security code were input to authorize the transactions.

Rather than repeat myself in entirety, I will only add that you should probably send the docs they requested. And please understand that if you played/deposited while out of your home country the IP/identity waters are muddied.

You ask for 'further' advice and this is it... save/keep all copies of your bank and casino transactions. Stop posting and if you are being honest hit Maxd with a PAB.
