I was just curious if anyone has the information, why quite a few casinos are opting not to obtain the uk license to allow uk customers to play with them? Is it a cost issue or is it a lot of effort to obtain one? I must say it feels a lot more limited for choice for the uk players since this license came into play.

Hi Birdy

the main reason is that few casinos does not have a big playerbase in the UK and on top it comes that Uk is one of the most fighted and saturated markets in the Gambling Industry. Some Operators does simply have not the funds to obtain a licence and hold up marketing wise against the Big Guys there.

On the other hand few casinos abandoned UK Players to be able to get a licence and no to breach UK law and jeopardize the outcome of the UKGC

I personally don't feel like people for the UK have really lost out that much. Those that have left have chosen to due to taxation charges levied on profits. Whether they didn't see if profitable enough to stay in the UK or they just hated tax, those that have left were not the be all and end all. There are plenty left that are perfectly good, with lots of game choice and good quality customer service.

Cost could be an issue, time and effort spent, audits, having to drastically modify the operation to cater for the new regulations (some of which may be deemed to not be in the best interests of a business).

Lots of reasons. Paying a tax on profits certainly isn't a reason to not obtain a license. Would you rather have 80% of alot or 100% or nothing?

Thanks for the responses. While we still have a good choice of some great casinos there is no denying it has been reduced with the new uk license. For example club world was my go to group for rtg slots i don't believe there are many accredited rtgs for uk players now. 32 red group is one thats a little confusing also, dash, nedplay, golden lounge & 32 red remain for uk players but the new recruits to their group are not would be intresting to hear from a rep on the reasoning for that decision im going to assume because they have those 4 in operation here they felt that was enough . The uk may have a lot of competition but online gambling within the uk seems to be a growing market.

I can't see any RTG casinos getting a UK license. IMO the reason Club World pulled out is they are based in this country and can't "flout the law" like the off-shore ones are doing.
Other than them and a handful of others, it is only mainly MG downloadable operators who have chosen not to get licensed - we still have one of the biggest selections of casinos to chose from anywhere in the world.

Really i just want tropezia palace back! There are quite a few multi platform casinos that have withdrawn or do not wish to start allowing uk players though also. Anyway i was just curious about what was putting places off going for the uk gambling license, but it sounds like it could be a multitude of things.
