On the odd occasion, about 3-4 times a year, during a night out with my mates we will head to a B&M casino.

We normally end up in the same casino, which previously required you to be a member and sign in on arrival; this has been my experience with all other B&M casinos in the UK (as far as i can remember).

On our last couple of visits there was no need to have to membership or sign in, we only had to navigate the bouncers on the door and walk straight in.

With all the noise around responsible gaming these days, i thought the UKGC would be tightening the rules on membership on casinos to ensure gamblers that had self excluded could not get in......but now any Tom, Dick or Harry can just walk straight in.

Thoughts?

I thought they'd loosened membership requirements before I left the industry, and that was over what, 15 years ago

So the admittance of random street riff-raff is not new, to me at least

If I recall correctly this has been the case for 10-15 years as per Goaty’s post.

That's certainly not the situation now. You're free to walk in off the street for most casinos, unless they are a private members club like Crockfords or the Ritz.

You can signup to the casinos rewards card, which gives you points for play and purchases. You'll then get some benefits as a result like free chips, discount, meals etc. But that is completely voluntary.

I see that other establishments have taken this approach too. Last week I was able to enter a supermarket feeling hungry (I know, schoolboy shopping error, sorry I mean non gender specific person of school age that perhaps didnt make the best choice this time but no one makes mistakes), and I went with the intention of spending £50 but ended up spending almost £200. This has happened several times in the same supermarket over the last few months and not once was a asked about my excessive spending, asked to provide SOW, or given options to take a short timeout, or permanently self exclude from the supermarket. Disgusting!!

Oh.....well it seems my experience was the exception to the rule.....maybe for a time in Scotland we had different rules through licencing laws, as casinos were often the place to continue drinking after "chucking out time" at nightclubs.

Still, i think with all the RG noise elsewhere, i am surprised it is not a requirement.

I used to live near Brighton and I got very aqualinted with a female Croupier who made more money during and after her shift than what she did working.
If this is true then she would be far more likely to catch a std me thinks.
And no. I never paid
