Thinking of quitting gambling

same here, i simply cannot win in these online slots. ive won on 27 dec the equivalent of 500eur in my currency in landbased roulette(machine) and novo slots all from ~15eur, only to spunk 400 from the lot in betano casino playing the dreadful netent slots, the only they offer and live roulette. i felt so sick after i was happy, could have done a lot fo things with that money but as always the tide went me away not fully realizing the spent sum and seeing only chips displayed on the screen. havent had an above 100x bet and i played 3 hours!! old and new netent all crap, i just cannot win online but cant fully leave it behind, is my way to live with hope of winning, is a thrill sensation i like, but the outcome is always against the hopes. at landbased at least i can follow those that lose huge amounts of money on max bet then play right at those machines and leave with good cash or ask the operator which ones paid big to avoid them, and if i win i always give her some cash for the infos. in online, i feel i take seat only at dead slots that gave out the maximum capacity wins and is set to recover back money from fools like me, i never found a hot one to milk all that have, never with netent, and never an early big hit, only just after ate 200x give a mega big win flashes with diamonds, coins and shit for 100x. but knowing the outcome beforehand and still feeding their disgusting slots i deserve my fate.

We Canadians don't have access to the same slots you do. I would like to play Novomatic slots as they are the best provider around. They can be tight but they are fair and can pay out. Canadians have lost access to Net Entertainment (though they have destroyed their best slots via HTML 5) and it looks like Next Generation and Big Time Gaming might be following suit. Canadians will be stuck with Microgaming, Play 'n Go, Yggdrasil and other lesser companies that I don't particularly like. Not exactly an exciting prospect. PlayOLG is a joke.

The only way I would go back is if I had a big win at the locals or won a decent amount in the lottery. I don't see any excitement for the Canadian online slot player who lives in the province of Ontario.

Yeah, won 560x on Playboy, got my starting balance up from $125 to $325 and then every slot took a shit on me in clearing the bonus. No more bonuses in 2017. I have cleared bonuses often but this one left a bad taste in my mouth.

same here.

as about online, in Italy we are country restricted on almost all providers, where they want us to play on ".it" casinos which are set on ridicolous TRTPs %.

there are a few ".com" casinos which are allowing us to play SOME games, but once they understood they have the monopoly, they set the players' RTP % as its more convenient for them.
Actually I am facing a bad streak of 38 deposits in a row (all of them same casino), all of them with overall RTP under 60%

bad luck. yes sure.

I have just been told by CO that if I deposit again, my bad luck MAY turn.

only thing still ok for us players are the land based casinos, we have only 4 in Italy, all of them are in the North, one is quite close to my village (about 150 km).
not comfortable in winter time, to drive with fog and ice, but still much better than this online shame.

Sincerely after 13 years of online gambling, I begin to feel sick and tired of this shit. Manipulation is too evident.

I'm gonna quit at least for a few months.
The only hope is to get back to competition between casinos otherwise it's over.

my ass got severely burned in italian lottery bars(don't know what they are called) with that total rip off machines with 1/2eur per spin and a maximum win of 100 EUROS for a line of top symbols!!!! one slot with vampires, one with chicken and eggs and more i dont remember if you know them, i played there 5 years ago. took me several hundreds to learn that are total rip off with no potential and unbelievable money eaters. i also played up to 200 tickets of 5eur scratch card, the one with star for 100eur and ORO symbol for everything. i've won the bloody OROOOO, i used to scratch only the numbers and then the prizes if numbers matched, when ive seen ORO my heart stopped, guess what was the prizes.. another rip off. i played live blackjack with a superb lady in or near Pescara in a big casino, dont remember, there i recouped all the loses from scatch cards and rigged machines :D

Slots on the whole have been a bitch most of 2016, so some revision is in order.

My New Year's reolution is to gamble less and win more

And aim to prevent snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, like my stupendously unbelievable ability to get to £1596 from a £5 free chip and play it down to a £200 cashout.

Never again!

ok we are going far from OP. Sorry for that.

In Italy we have:

1) the slot machiens available in bar / shops and they are (should be) controlled by Govt (AAMS). By law, their TRTP is not less than 74%.
Must be said that NOT ALL of these machines are really under control of AAMS, there are some rumors saying about 20/30% are disconnected by the central servers.

2) the slot machines available into the slots arcades, named "sale VLT" (about 50% of these arcades are owned by one only private Company). Those machines are mainly Novo and by law their TRTP is not less than 88%.
Also in this case we cannot exclude that somebody is disconnecting the machines by the central servers. Of course it cannot be demonstrated (it's illegal !) but saying 20/30% we are not far from the truth IMHO.

3) the slot machines into the land based casinos. If memory serves, there are not any laws imposing a "not less than X% TRTP" on these, but for istance Casino' di venezia Ca Noghera declares that in the last 1 year the overall TRTP of their machines has been 95/96%. Important: this is self-certifying. It could be true or not. :)

4) online slot machines: shit.
There are some laws trying to regulate them, but since there is nobody doing any kind of controls, casinos are setting the machines as they want.

As about scratch cards, they are 100% under the control of the Govt, I don't know what is their real payout ratio, but don't forget that over 90% of the prizes are 1X. And it's statistically proved that the player who wins 1X, almost always buys a new card. :)

last but not least, if you played live Black Jack near Pescara, I'd reccomend you to keep this for yourself since the land based casino closer to Pescara is in Venice some 500 km north. ;)

Im done with MG far too many same patterns , far too many dead spins . no features ,mg roulette is not random , absolutely disgusting play & i've played them for 16 years today was the last time ,1k down the hill , another session number 5 on the devil slot again no feature min bets on that slot from start of playing has been no less than £3 per spin up to £5 , not once have i seen 10x or above in maybe 1500 spins , that is not right & should never be allowed to pass testing in anyway shape or form.

infact im going completely off online gambling , harrys thread showed us how poor mainly online games are , last year was another shocker in deposits & yet another year where the providers of these games are getting fatter & fatter ,they seem to churn out shocking games poor pay tables & just plain shite wins & i would like any REP here to show me how my data is sent to & from the server in all games because it seems mighty odd & mighty fishy to me hoe online casinos work & before someone says luck , averages come into play , that has nothing to do with luck.

the VLT machines i told about are the ones taking 1/2eur coins, and emptying once upon is filled with money, like inserting 200eur+ to give the maximum win of 100eur. catching the machine already empty means you will seed it and most likely will run out of money before catching the max win. 100euros means 100 spins, hardly gave back around 60%. i played them in several cities as they were evrywhere, from lanciano, rome, pescara and other cities.
in Pescara ive seen at least 3 casinos from car, mostly are(or were) old novos and electronic(up to 6) or live roulette, some include pension/hotel, and they are many of this type in the country, ive spent weeks in the car so ive saw them. this was outside or near inside the city, cant tell for sure, where i played live BJ. i have no reason to lie, you may know better the places, but you may not know this one? as for scratch cards, 1 of 3 was 1x and 20eur prize like 1 in 20-25, i played maybe 200, with a friend playing around the same amount. ORO gave 50eur, 5 for each number, total crap compared to the prizes shown below the numbers when there are no matches. when i scartched them i played with oro in mind, whhen it came was a huge disappointment.

Sorry, I do apologize. My bad wording.
I am 100% sure you are telling the truth.
Simply, afaik the only places where is legal to play BJ are the 4 landbased casinos.
Venezia, SanRemo, SaintVincent, Campione.

consider that all my experience there and last time i set foot there was 5 years ago. i didnt played in underground, but in specifically big casino like they are throughout Europe at the city margin or near inside. i will take a look on google street for city surrounding maybe i will refresh my memory and be exact about the place ive been.:)

Alright so I have made a decision!

I am going to give it a break starting at the end of next week when my battle entries are expired.

It may be stupid to quit while ahead especially since my start to this year has been pretty good. I think im up about $2000 total.

BUT my life is starting to suffer so I need to change. My sleeping has become horrible and ive been veering away from healthy eating and the gym.

I fought with myself over this because I feel like ive been blessed with the horseshoe.

Ive been slowing down recently anyways and been buying stuff with my winnings to make it feel like it all counts.

Last week I won $640 profit. I wanted one of those nice electrical fireplaces for my living room. I saw one on sale and took my winnings and bought it for $512. And then add all of the other stuff ive bought with my winnings. Ive basically furnished my new house I bought.

Dining room table and chairs
BBQ
reclining leather couch
pictures
snowblower
king size bed and mattress
microwave
dishes
water cooler
car repairs
tv stand
wallmount

So yeah its kind of hard to quit when youve put it all to good use

I dont know if Ill take a break from the forum and twitch though. I will have to see how that goes. When I take my break if either of them are making me want to play, Ill have to take a break too. I will be asking all my casinos to implement a 30 day break period to help me out with too.

I think this will be a good thing. It will get me out of this one tunnel world im in right now. Wake up, think of gambling, watch streams related to gambling, dream gambling etc etc etc.

Time for a refresh!

I will post back next week when I begin!

Think based on what your saying that its starting to effect your life in other areas that a break is very very wise. The games will still be waiting for you ) I have taken tons of breaks in the past and still hung out on the forum and so on. Its just as i have ZERO will power I always need to use TAB or DL - then Im safe  So take your break and enjoy the time out! And we all know in the end we will all loose. Your ahead now so its the perfect to TAB -) cause like anyone keep on gambling and your the wins will turn to losses without fail!

Later on when the mind is clear you can take it up again.

Just curious but how exactly has your sleep been affected? I used to do high stakes playing on my mobile in bed and regardless of outcome I often found I wouldn't be able to sleep for around two hours after finishing as my brain would being overtime. It wasn't at all pleasant and I of course had to stop.

And your comments about waking, watching a stream, playing some slots, checking a slot forum reminded me of a post by Brian Ghattas I think we're he said pretty much said all of the above and finished off with a light hearted remark that it was very likely he was going to need some therapy :) But yeah...It does sound very consuming and probably not a great place to be.

Good luck with your break and have fun with your snow blower :)

My sleeping is brutal when I'm gambling. Same as you. I can't sleep after a session..I wake all hours of the night from the adrenaline and then the same as Brian. So somedays I won't play at all so I can let the adrenaline subside.

Alot of it has to with some of the huge win Ive had ove this past year too. Before this year, I didnt play very much just the odd session here and there and win some lose some..nothing too exciting.

But then I started to win. Alot. Frequently.

Lets look at my big wins over the past year

DOA

double wild line $3300
next day 5 scatter $1100

both from 45 cent bets.

Nova 7

$2.40 bet $7000 CAD payout
$6.25 bet $6800 CAD payout

Avalon 2

$2.40 bet

base game win of $4400

Terminator 2

hot mode

Betsize $2.40

Payout $3440

3 jurassic park bonuses that paid between $1200-$2000 from $1.20 bets-$2.40

A $2000 win on PLAYOLG casino

Then you add up the dozens of 300x-800x I have in between

Its been a crazy crazy amount of big hits. So of course naturally, I end up playing a heck of alot more. More adrenaline, more excitement, less sleep, less healthy lifestyle.

Im actually pretty exhausted. But thats not a complaint. I could never complain about being 'tired' of winning. People on this forum cant catch a break so I would be a complete idiot if I did that!

But I need a break to refresh and recoup. I really want to be that person who walks away with a boat load of the casinos money, I really do. Can I? I think after I suffer a loss that stings. Until then I dont think so. I like it too much. Something needs to turn me off. Unless my 30 day break does something for me where I dont feel the need to return

You know you're not actually luckier than anyone else . Yes up to this point you have been one of the lucky ones but that doesn't mean it will continue . I know poker players who have won tournaments for over $100k and a few months later they are broke again because they think they are somehow blessed or that overnight they somehow had become god's gift to poker (they hadn't) . I mean , carry on gambling if you enjoy it but you're almost suggesting that it's a bad financial decison to quit . It really isn't , as most of us who have been considerably less lucky can testify to :p Unless you have some kind of system which truly gives you an edge but if that's the case then you would have to be using bonuses constantly and other such things . Having a cashout strategy and stuff like that might help you keep control of your gambling but it won't turn you into someone who should expect a profit

Good luck with it lockinlove.

I am happy that I work a 4on 4off system, meaning that I don't play during the 4 days that I work.

I did sort of suggest that but as a tongue in cheek comment. Hence why I made the comments in here that I know it wont last forever and to leave no while im up :D

Yeh when you win a lot it feels like you will always win but the trouble is when u start losing you still think the win is just around the corner... and sometimes it isn't :(That's how players can win big and then lose it all back because they still feel lucky even as their bankroll is being wiped out

Congrats Lock! Just thought I would mention what I saw someone else recommend in another thread, that instead of locking your account, at least at VS, you put a low limit which you have already reached on your account and then you can still access the weekly freespins and any cashback from races, etc.

I am also taking a break once my battle eligibility is no longer at VS. I agree that gambling can be dangerous to one's health... both in terms of sleep and exercise interference. Since I am self employed and work from home, having VS open for battles all day long is not conducive to getting outside for some exercise, not to mention distracting me from my work! You might just get some good exercise with your new snow blower after this storm we are having!!

At one point, i couldn't go to sleep if I had money in a casino account. If I had not completed wagering on a bonus.
W
Or awaiting a cashout, especially a big one.

I've said for years, sometimes it's worse when you are winning.

It takes a lot of time to gamble a whole bunch. I know, I do it. I lose more time than money to gambling in many ways, no matter what level I'm at in any given moment in time.

If you think it's time to step back, it's time to step back. If your lucky streak is still running, it will be waiting for you.

And if it came to an end, then it will be dead when you are back, and that is later rather than sooner.

I fight my own battles daily. I do find it helpful to not have my bank account and gambling source linked. I know I haven't had a gambling-free week since Cuba in October.

I got my cashback at VS just after two, and got about 15 minutes of play in before I had Friday help/company. And there was just a bit of me impatient to see what might happen, not so much I would exclude guests. And then 2 more hours catching up on Facebook and here at CM.

I need a break too, and I've known that for some time. I just very reluctant to take it, and I'm hoping mostly to reduce the amount of time I spend avoiding more important things in my life. I don't want to hi-jack your thread, but I somehow manage to avoid stuff I don't like to do with other non-productive activities than gambling when I don't gamble.

This thought has been crossing my mind more and more recently.

This year has been great for me. I have basically walked into every online casino and taken some of their money. Some really nice cashouts of $5,000-$10,000 and being profiting that much overall in some casinos.

And I know they sit there and see how much I play and think its just a matter of time before I go on a bad run and lose it back.

Its slots. Something of luck and out of my control. An edge that doesnt favor me.

I just feel like giving the casinos the finger and saying thanks for your money. Its mine and you will never get it back.

I almost felt like doing it today. Closing accounts. Ive done what ive wanted. Killed the games ive wanted. Gotten the massive wins I aimed for (cept for vikings go rigged but that game can kiss my arse)

Do I hate slots? No not at all. I enjoy some of them. Some can take a flying leap off a cliff...lmao

I did win big and close one account perma. Grande Vegas. I dont like their cashout policy and they didnt care to change it. So I took their thousands and thousands and ran. BUH BYE

Recently I went into my gambling account. Which is my bank account only for gambling. I paid for christmas, a trip to Cuba, clothes, jewelry, a snowblower (O CANADA)

I still have thousands left. Maybe for a hot tub and some other stuff.

I know how rare these wins ive gotten are. I know by the screenshots and comments people provide on this forum. They are rare. And I somehow kept doing it and doing it. But because they are rare. Soon it will just become a chase. Losses.

So why bother?

I think I am going to quit.

Good luck to you all either way, I always wish when I open up the winner screenshots thread, someone has hit a massive one.

Well what ever you decide on the slots playing i hope you still have time to post here if it doesnt stop you living.
I know it sounds like a strange affliction but constant winning can be..... very draining, to the point that the enjoyment from the winnings is overcast and the whole thing becomes a major chore rather what most would imagine is a blessing.
Either way its posts from yourself and other regulars that attracted me to this forum and im sure we would be worse of without your input.

Yes I forgot about the cash out angst. Doesn't matter how much I trust the casino it's not a done deal until it hits my account.

And the comments about winning I almost said something similar myself but I couldn't really explain it. But without doubt the times when I've had heavy losses have been precipitated by very good wins and for my own circumstances it was definitely not a coincidence.

For that reason I think in the majority of cases there are really only two things which will bring a players gambling to an end which are a.) Very heavy losses or b.) Being flat out broke. I think to stop gambling whilst winning must be almost impossible and I think loveinlove is also resigned to her fate in that regard.

P.S the patience thing also resonates. Probably another indicator that one is playing too much.

I think for me... the only thing thats going to help is I pick a day and then go to my casinos and do a 30 day break. Because if I dont, there will be a time where im really bored because there is a storm outside, nothing on tv and nothing to do so I will just say well may as well gamble. Where as if you make it where you can play, it isnt even an option. I dont think you can only do it with one foot in.

Yesterday I barely played. Maybe 30 mins total excluding battles. I have a healthy balance on two casinos that im not really going to touch. On videoslots im waiting on the rake race to be paid and then next Fridays cashback then im cashing out and doing the break. Same sort of thing with my other casino.

Its break time. It really is. Im kind of excited to be honest lol

Hey thanks thats a nice thing of you to say!

Ill probably have to give twitch a break I find that to be the worst for making a person want to play. Watching others hit bonus rounds, get fun and exciting wins. I think this forum will be okay just maybe stay out of the winner screenshots.
