The longest summer break for Edna Krabappel

Goodbye Marcia Wallace. Fans shall miss you.

Marcia Wallace, a comedian who most recently voiced Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons, died last night in Los Angeles. Wallace was 70 years old and had reportedly been ill for the past few months.

Today's generation will remember mostly for her role as the voice of Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons but her career spans 5 decades starting with commercials and stage work and then moving to television. She made appearances in more shows than I can even remember including 6 seasons of The Bob Newhart show and guest spots on The Brady Bunch, Murphy Brown, Alf and Magnum PI. She also spent about 30 years appearing on almost every panel style game show like Match game and Password.

Two stars of The Bob Newhart Show in an early Kraft a la Carte commercial.

Slight derail, remembering Bob Newhart...

Newhart has always been one of my favorites and even at 84 he still hasn't lost his comedic timing. He'll always be one of the best.

This is an episode of The Big Bang theory from this year and he's still a genius.
