Somehow my deposit of £30 via UKASH Voucher was confiscated on 23rd February 2013 by The Hippodrome Casino.I was told because some CHARGEBACKS I MADE at other of their Online Casinos. What other Online Casinos are those?.I want to know.
When I did contact the Live Help asking about the CHARGEBACKS and the other Online Casinos; The Lady I was chatting to had no a clue about that. And she was unable to get such details.
She quickly asked my for my Bank Details Online for a REFUND.Seriously?.I think not.THIEVES!!!!!!!
What a BITTER experience because I spent the whole week in touch with The UKASH Customer Service, thinking something was wrong with my £30 UKASH Voucher.
The Hippodrome Casino just decided to confiscate my Deposit without telling me AND CLOSED MY ACCOUNT OBVIOUSLY.
Simple as that.
BEWARE OF THE HIPPODROME CASINO FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

They have offered you your money back, and they cannot refund to UKash. It is unlikely they will be able to defraud your bank account if given the details for a refund, but to be sure, contact your bank beforehand and make it clear this company is only authorised to send you a refund, not debit a further amount. You should then be protected under UK banking rules if the company tries anything.

You could also ask if they can send a cheque, which would not involve you giving out any bank details.

You should still pursue the allegation about a chargeback, as someone (usually a processor they use) has fed them this information, and will no doubt be telling other casinos about it. Chargebacks scare the industry, and it is common for players who have charged back at other casinos to find their names on an industry blacklist, and face having their accounts closed at other online casinos they join.

The Data Protection Act is there to help UK citizens fight companies who store, distribute, or act upon, false data. If you have never done this, it is quite possible someone else has been using your details to rip off online casinos. You should check your credit files for entries about applications for credit cards you didn't make, as these would indicate someone else is trying to use your identity to commit fraud. Chargebacks can only be made with credit cards, and Visa debit cards in some circumstances. If there are any of these in your name that you haven't applied for, they will show on your credit file.

There is also a problem with fraud relating to UKash, where bogus vouchers are being sold by unauthorised resellers. Sometimes the merchant does not find out till it's too late, and may have already paid a player based on a deposit made from a bogus UKash voucher. If you have used Ukash before, this too might be viewed as a "chargeback" when UKash refuses to honour the voucher because it is a fake. This is also something you might try and check with UKash, but it would involve you having a record of all UKash voucher codes you have used in the past, as UKash itself is not traceable (which is why it can be attractive to fraudsters).

The Hippodrome casino online is managed by Betway Group (and so holds a Malta license). Betway itself is run by the Palace Group (payments, CS, etc). The chargeback accusation could therefore relate to any online casino owned or operated by the Palace Group, to include Betway and GNUF (Betway Group).

Did you or did you not have chargebacks in the past?

Of course he did.

He gave himself away by asking the casino "what chargebacks? Where?". An innocent person would have just flatly denied it or asked what a chargeback was.

Its probably why he was using ukash as his cc is probably blacklisted and he knows it

So no innocent person Nowhere would use the words "what chargebacks? Where?" But instead deny it or ask what a chargeback was? OKAYYYYYY!!!!

I can count on ONE HAND how many players accused of chargebacks were actually proven innocent (most actually not conclusively proven guilty which is not exactly innocent) in these forums.

What is YOUR experience on this forum?

What does "no innocent person Nowhere" mean?

Thanks for your replies.
The answer is not.As far as I remember my Branch not me did a Chargeback for a few deposits of £20 .I do not know why.My deposits were made via Debit Card.
And that was almost two years ago. This is the very first time that a BRAND NEW ONLINE CASINO like The Hippodrome Casino does such thing.
I do not really understand why The Hippodrome Casino did that. When I asked about such information about the CHARGEBACKS and their other Online Casinos; They are not able to provide such information.Let's see what The Hippodrome Casino has to say about this matter.
Just let me play my Deposit and maybe then close my Account and tell me about the CHARGEBACKS thing.
What BOGUS UKASH Voucher?.When I buy it in a shop at a PayPoint machine.

Are you serious? My bank has NEVER made a chargeback on my behalf ever. They have at times refused deposits as part of their fraud prevention at the time of trying to deposit to a casino. But that is a whole different scenario.

I am not a fan of the Palace Group, but the people behind the Hippodrome Casino are good guys.

That said, it sounds like there is a lot more than meets the eye here. I suggest you take this up with your bank instead of having a go at the casino.....

Like I say, take it up with your bank. I have never ever heard of a bank actioning a charge back without the consent of the account holder.

The Hippodrome Casino is not owned by The Palace Group. Betway manage the online operation of the Hippodrome though.

Like I said above. This is an issue you need to resolve with your bank and not the casino. If you have knowingly or unknowingly made a charge back at a casino before, the casino is well within their rights to say Adios to further activity.

This should never happen with a UK bank. The transactions are perfectly legal in the UK, and if your bank took it upon themselves to chargeback payments to a merchant without your permission they would be in all kinds of trouble. For starters, they could be sued for libel in the same way that a bank that wrongly bounces a cheque can. The libel comes from the fact that by bouncing a cheque the bank is saying that you don't have the funds, and this harms your reputation with not only the merchant, but the credit reference agencies.

However, there is a known loophole, exploited by fraudsters, and that is to report their card stolen on a date prior to the changes they want reversed. Since the bank has to refund you the charges from that point, they can attempt to recover all charges made with your theft/loss report being taken as a general authority to act on your behalf.

If you think the bank messed up, you should first complain to them, and if not satisfied, to the Financial Ombudsman. If you win your case, your bank will have to set the record straight with credit reference agencies, and make good your reputation with merchants who wrongly had money recovered.

From the industry side, they will see this as a group of chargebacks of relatively small deposits. This makes you particularly high risk as it would indicate no amount is too small for you to let go when you lose.

Until this is cleared up, you should steer well clear of ALL online casinos, Palace Group or not.

Using a different deposit method does NOT allow a player to slip under the radar, the data is based on ID, not deposit method, and knowing the ID of a player is something casinos take care to get right.

Everything has been just sorted out:
STOLEN DEPOSIT BY THE PALACE GROUP
THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REFUND?.MY ARSE................................
Apparently The Hippodrome Casino does belong to The Palace Group.
THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STAY AWAY PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why you insist on making a complete ass of yourself, after you obviously did charge back, is beyond me.
As others have said...no bank would do that on their own, without your approval.
As far as I can tell, the casino simply took what was theirs to begin with....and that YOU stole from THEM by doing a chargeback, right ?

This is just confusing:confused:

If it is sorted out, what's the problem?

If the bank caused this by pulling back past deposits without permission. Take it up with the Financial Ombudsman, you will get far more than 30 quid if they rule in your favour as there would be compensation offered for damages, plus the bank would be forced to bear the cost of repairing the negative data caused, and that now gets used against you.

They can't process a refund unless they have a means to do so, and may just be waiting to be given the means, such as your bank account details.

It seems odd that the casino would make such a fuss over returning a mere £30 deposit given that this information is an entry on a negative database, rather than 100% proven (such as a chargeback at other Palace Group casinos).

The worst UK banks do is block a transaction, this is NOT a chargeback, and in the case of a casino, would not result in any funds reaching the casino that could be played, lost, and later pulled back. Anything that results in a payment to a merchant being reversed (a chargeback), has to be initiated by the account holder making a dispute, or reporting a card stolen.

Spot on. Blocking a transaction is a fairly common occurrence when you purchase goods or services online. Many banks also take part in the verify by visa scheme. As it happens we had our transaction blocked last night when trying to order a couple of pizzas on the Domino's Website.

But banks enacting chargebacks without the account holder requesting such action, this does not happen!
