That little "delay" that means you are screwed

Gah. So I just blew a $1030 balance over at Phoenician and now I am
frustrated and so I have decided to finally register here and say "hi" after
lurking for a while.

I don't feel that bad about losing the $1030. It was really only out of a $100
deposit that I had been slowly building up. but that was about 3 weeks of
building it up gone in about 30 seconds.

I knew I should have quit, but I kept saying "I can make it to 1100" then I'll
quit. As soon as I started losing I knew I was screwed. I'd bet $100 and
this little "delay" before the next play started happening. interesting how the
dealer starts getting 20s and 21s about this time. Even though I'll get a 19
or 20, the dealer always gets 1 better than me.

So like an idiot, I just let the entire balance go down the drain trying to keep
it up. The worst part was I started today with 500$. I should have just quit
after managing to somehow double my starting balance.

But, before I play again I thought I would try to educate myself a little better
about the RTG software. Anyone care to help out? I've seen posts about
the RTG blackjack fairness before on this forum. I was hoping maybe a new
discussion would help me the next time before I blow my balance again.

Like I said, I am not complaining about Phoenician or calling their honesty
into question, and I would play there again. It just occurs to me that
perhaps I should be approaching RTG blackjack differently than I would a
real blackjack game. I hope if I start posting instead of just lurking I might
learn a little more about online gambling.

I avoid RTG sites. I dont know quite what to say about them except they give me an uneasy feeling when I play large amounts (above $25).

i agree with you about rtg, if i am betting small, i have a good run, but when i up my stake, a delay kicks in and i lose the hand, i cant remember how many times this has happened to me. so i now leave rtg casinos well alone. even the good ones.

I have noticed this too but never posted about it. I thought the delay was just due to server traffic but I can definitely say that it does have influence on gameplay and what cards are dealt, especially since I see other people are experiencing this too. I would like some input from any of the RTG casino managers and reps. that frequent this forum.

With any BM site I have noticed that whenever you gotta hit a stiff hand at BJ and there is a small delay of about 1 second, you can count yourself busted. nearly 100% this happens!!!

I'm presently playing at William Hill.
I play Will Hill often and I've noticed the same delay there.
If I'm winning, it starts to go the opposite way and visa versa.
Now, Will Hill is Cryptologic...NOT RTG.
I've noticed this in just about every where I've played Blackjack.
So, It's definitely not just RTG.

Come on, you have managed to play $100 up to $1000. Why didn't you accuse RTG for making the game in your favor before? Now you lost all $1000 and you then decided to question their fairness. You should have stopped when it went down to $800 but you didn't. Better yet you should have withdrawn something when it hit $1000 but again you didn't. Please don't take it the wrong way but have you thought about may be it is the software in your brain that needs some adjustment.

I have also noticed the delay and kill thing, most apperant at BM casinos. What you need to do is have one hand on the phone line or cable and then when the delay starts, at that very second, yank the cord out of the wall. You see what is happening is that the dealer is switching cards, or maybe the pit boss. Anyway, it takes a second to switch the cards thus the delay, so if you stop the show by unplugging it, when you come back the dealer and pit boss will be confused and will give you the card that was meant for them, thus you win! You can also smash your computer but that cost more than just unplugging it and you can punch the computer screen which is fun but you will stay connected so you will lose.

I've noticed this little delay thing too, but mainly at Microgaming casinos. And at particular MG casinos at that, in particular BelleRock casinos. And usually its on particular games, like Thunderstruck and other bonus slots. It can take up to 10-20 seconds between SPINS. Ridiculous. They can't be getting that much traffic, and it isn't happening on other games like VP, so it gets me VERY suspicious.

Its not my connection, because I can exit that casino and open up a different viper casino and it flies along as you expect it to while playing the same game that dragged at the other place. And strangely enough, I'll actually get some decent hits at the one that spins quickly, while getting crap at the one that delays me 10 seconds between spins. The only other time I saw this was when playing Caribbean Stud at Lucky Nugget (non progressive) and was playing along just fine, good regular pace, until I got dealt 4 of a kind. Of course I bet and then after a 30 second or longer delay, the dealer finally flipped his hand. What a surprise, he didn't qualify

I don't trust anyplace that has these little delays when I'm on a high speed connection with a 3+ghz computer that is not seeing the same delays on the same game at a different casino. Something just isn't right about it.

micro and boss delays , means u going to loss for sure. I have own 500 hands at rtg casino many times, i believe rtg software overall to be fair comared to any micro casinos.

pass two days i have won 1300 at phoniecan casino, at one point i had over 2200 , the software didnt make me lose a few dollars back, it was me going off my system. Even after one of them weird updates, i keep winning

Do you log out of the game and then re-enter or log out of the whole site and re-enter? Or log out full stop until another day?

Very strange these delays and I cant recall ever winning a hand after experiancing one. Surely the software writers could sort this out so we can lose without feeling even more shafted than normal!!!

harsh man. Like I said, I realize it was my own fault, and I should have stopped, etc, etc. And like I said, I blame myself for not stopping when I realized I was going to lose it all if I kept going. And like I pretty much
said, I know I should have stopped.

I wasn't posting to question anyone's fairness, but I did notice the delay
kick in and I was wondering what that was all about. A number of posts
confirmed that I wasn't halucinating, so I will be a little wiser next time,
hopefully.

and don't get the impression that I turned 100$ into 1000$ in one day,
I am talking about 3 weeks of play here. I never played many hands
in a row because I was worried about that delay and the inevitable loss.

So, yes, I realize it was definitely the "software in my brain that needs
some adjustment" and that is why I came here. Online gaming is a lot
of fun, and I think the 100$ deposit I started with was worth the cost of
the adrenaline rushes and all that I received over the couple of weeks I
played with it. I would be feeling like a much bigger fool if I had
deposited 1000$ and then lost it in 5 minutes that same day, but that was
never really my money anyway. Easy come, easy go. Hopefully next
time I will have enough sense to quit while I am ahead.

So yeah, you really read my post the wrong way. I didn't come here to
whine and try to get my money back or something (not even my money really, I didn't earn it, just won it briefly then lost it). But I would like
to stick around and talk more about online casinos and hopefully the next
time I make a post about my casino experience it will be to say that I
just withdrew 1000$ profit.

i just log out and in again 15 mins later...
sometimes the delay will bring a 6 to my 15 or a 5 to my 16 to complete a 21 and i will win for sure (because for some reason the dealer will bust)
but this only happen maybe...once in 10 times?

I'm so glad that someone brought the delay up. I noticed it at the Phoenician and at CON and a couple of other casinos that I tried. I learned to hold my breath after that delay and it almost never went my way. Of course, when one loses immediately post-delay, she relates the two events. I figured that the man-behind-the-curtain was switching cards and that it was just part of the price of playing online. By the way, mantis, I would love to hear your methods for taking $100 up to $1,000 over three weeks. I've yet to profit. As in, never, not, none. Bethug's posts are daggers in my heart; might you be willing to tell us some part(s) of your strategies?

I have found a way to make the delay fun! Everytime you see the delay, shout "bust" before the bust card comes out. If you have a high speed connection, you will be right almost every time, it is like reading the future. (it might not work with dial up as their are probably many delays due to the connection) When I play at gold club, I get it right about 98% of the time and my girl friend loves it when I yell "bust" when she is playing and I am watching.

At cryptologic casinos, the animation literally freezes for half a second with your bust card in mid-air just before it hits the table. Then you come out busting 99% of the time. The other 1% you will get 21 and I am not joking. This really happens!
