Ted Loh (Spearmaster) was one of my closest friends, and we lost him to cancer in 2010. The saddest part is that he left behind a family - a wife, two daughters and a boy - and they deal with this loss daily.

The kids are older now, and Shelly is attending college in London. She says:

...My life changed once my father passed away in 2010. I have no funding for university other than borrowing sums of money in order to put myself in university. I work 2 jobs to support myself and it is just enough for food and transportation. The amount I aim to raise will be just about enough to cover one year of my tuition fees. This will help me buy some time in order for me to work and earn enough money to pay back my loans. By the time I graduate, my sister and I will be responsible of taking care of my mother (who never got a chance to go to school) and little brother's expenses until my brother is old enough to work and support himself...

I hope that the membership can put a pretty good dent into what she needs. Instead of depositing into some Hoover vaccuum cleaner of a casino, perhaps send he money to her instead via here:

Please don't contact her. She doesn't know that I am posting this. Thank you.

If she is anything like her pop she will contribute greatly to just causes such was the integrity of this man. I hope various casinos could also join the fray and help Michele on her way. Lovely lass.

Paypal, as an option to donate, would be a great help. Please consider using this for some of us, because I know would definitely like to help. Thank you! I believe in learning (education) too!

This is out of Bryan's hands. The site is based in the US, and accepts payment methods depending upon the donor's country. For the UK, it appears to offer Paypal, or rather "payments processed by paypal", but mentions payment by debit and credit cards.

A past problem I have had with this at casinos is that in order to pay by card, one has to create a Paypal account "on the fly", agreeing to the Paypal terms.

I am certainly satisfied about the legitimacy of this site, and the recipient, as Bryan has posted it here.

It's working, as last time I looked she had raised £400.

£10K is a pretty modest request for a year of study in the UK. Even for UK students, tuition fees can be up to £9K per year, and this does not include living and lodging expenses, which in London won't be cheap.

If anything, she may have set herself too low a target.

I would asume by my looks of this that she has setup something herself elsewhere? And this a great gesture from Bryan setting this one up at GoFundMe to surprise here. As he put please don't contact her as she doesn't know I am doing this.

This is really good of you Bryan. A question for me would it be allowed for me to maybe post a link on facebook to that donation page at GoFundMe? Or i Guess will not be any good if i spread this and she finds out? I would love to donate as well but as is right now would only be a very small amount. But would certainly help all I can getting more people aware who might be able to donate

:notworthy for the meister!

However, if we overdo it, she may wonder how on earth her efforts worked so well compared to others. A simple Google would give her the answer. As it is an American site, it is primarily US members that will see these good causes. For me, this is the first time I have seen this particular site, but I have seen a few others, so it looks like a trend that is taking off, similar to the "crowd funding" concept.

Whilst this one is legit, this looks like a new field for the con artist to exploit. I can't see how the operators of such sites can vet all fundraising, and con artists will not be put off simply because the terms of use prohibit false causes.

I have shared the funding page onto my Facebook page and also I will throw in a wee donation.
I did not know Mr Loh but I am always up for helping people out.

Very nice initiative Bryan and very noble too.

Regards,

Mark.
