I've had betway's Viper client downloaded on my computer for as long as I can remember, But today, when I logged on and made a deposit, there were no games installed at all, like I'd just downloaded it for the first time.

So, I downloaded jurasic park, opened it up and clicked on autoplay, only to find that it's been restricted to a maximum of 25 spins, after checking a few other games, It appears that ALL autoplay has now been restricted to 25 spins !!!!

This is more impact from the UKGC regulatory changes, see this UKGC blog

22 Do licence holders have to comply with remote technical standard 8 (auto-play functionality) from the date of implementation of the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act?

22.1 The Commission has identified that there is a significant difference in respect of the requirement on auto-play functionality between the Remote gambling and software technical standards (RTS) and the technical standards in other jurisdictions from where operators can currently legally operate in the British market.

22.2 Our requirements limit auto-play gambles to a maximum of 25 in one batch. However, we are aware that other jurisdictions either have higher limits or no limits.

22.3 We have considered this position and as a result we will not require compliance with the auto-play requirement as set out in the RTS from the date that licences are issued. Therefore operators will not have to make changes to the auto-play functionality of their games until further notice.

22.4 Our requirements around auto-play are intended to ensure customers are still in control of their gambling where this functionality is available. Therefore whilst we will not require compliance with RTS 8 at this time, we will still expect licence holders to comply with the licence conditions and codes of practice and RTS requirements that are intended to protect customers from harm. This means, an operator is expected to monitor the play of their customers and if unusual or excessive gambling activity occurred the operator should take appropriate action.

I'm getting the update now. It's major, more or less a reconfiguring of all the games.

It seems Microgaming have implemented a number of the UKGC required changes. I don't know whether it's across the board, or whether it's done by geolocation so that UK players will have a UKGC compliant Viper client.

It may be possible to bypass the 25 limit, just as it was possible to bypass the 500 limit before it. Other than that, it just means one mouse click is needed per 25 bet block for autoplay. One advantage is that it's going to be next to impossible for casinos to claim that "autoplay was abused" when playing a bonus provided it's done in 25 spin blocks. No more watching a movie whilst the computer grinds away at the WR.

This is probably not the only change either.

I got a popup telling me the terms had changed, but a fault meant that they could not be accessed from the lobby link, it just loaded a blank page. This is another UKGC requirement, that changes to the terms must be notified to players, rather than leaving them to find out when it's too late by checking the website every few weeks.

Finally, I got a reworked popup telling me I had an unfinished bet, but when I checked the game, there wasn't. This could be another of the changes made to the software in order for it to be UKGC compliant. It will also help with those irritating moments when for some unknown reason, a cash deposit to a zero balance suddenly turns partly into bonus, leaving player and CS fumbling to find the cause.

A while back I did read the full Technical standards

It's hardly thrilling stuff but thems the new rules. Someone with a different perspective might find something of significance but the auto-play was the only thing the sites raised that made it to the FAQs

I did a bit of looking around, and found a number of other changes.

There is a new section whereby players can set their deposit limits directly from within the client.

There is also a new statistic alongside the usual Cashcheck and Playchech. It's a session time log, and it was recording the length of the login. After an hour, there is a popup to remind players that they have had an active session for an hour. The client also has a security feature that logs out a session that has been idle for too long. Normally, I can leave a client logged in for hours to take such a major update, but after I stopped looking around my session became "idle", and was logged out shortly after, probably a matter of 10 minutes of idleness.

What has not been added is the individual TRTPs of each game.

It's also possible to link to the latest terms and conditions from within the client, no more searching the website for them.

I noted that my deposit limits were set to "£0" per day, week, and month. This could be a marker for "no limit set", but it could also mean that players will find themselves unable to deposit for the first 24 hours after the update, as if they have to set limits, anything will be an increase from "£0", and will not therefore take effect for 24 hours.

Previously, limits were set by the operator, and some were very high indeed!! One setting allowed me individual 6 figure transactions from Neteller, and 5 figures from cards.

Found a serious problem with the Betway update:mad:

Multiplayer slots and MPV tournaments are both broken (they worked fine before). There is no response from double clicking the games, not even an error message. My position and alias in the Argyle Open have also been wiped!

OP said he deposited immediately post download so the £0 is a blank not a 24hr deposit block.

yeah, I deposited ok. But when I came to make a withdrawal, there was just a message saying my account wasn't activated and I'd need to send my documents. Which I'm sure I must have done previously some time in the past.

Anyways, I've emailed my documents, and have been advised that they should be processed in about 48 hours

I noticed that a screen marked my account as "probationary". It's possible that the new lobby design is designed to automatically request documents when the account is "probationary", and the reason existing players are getting the request is that there has been no data ported over to the new lobby, it's in a virgin state that has ALL existing accounts marked as "probationary".

It's useful in one respect though, casinos are notorious for not asking for documents when needed, and just sitting on a withdrawal until in frustration the player asks CS why nothing seems to be happening.

Betway seems to be absorbing the UK players from a large number of casinos, so it an obvious "pilot" for the new UKGC compliant Viper client. I expect that other Microgaming casinos with a UK license will get the update. Whether this is being done from reading the location of the IP address, or the country declared by the player in registration, hasn't been made clear.
