Stake reductions in UK confirmed for 9th April

I meant £2 MAX, Meaning 50p, £1, £1.50 and £2 although I rarely play land based due to low RTP and 50p min, I prefer 20p mins but they not in land based for some time.

It isn't even common to find 50p slots in central London casinos anymore. Most now run at £1 per spin, and some machines at the Hippodrome casino run at £3. Most likely they have high operational costs, everything around is expensive, so having 50p bets makes little sense for them. Even table min bets are high, £10-25 a chip for roulette during evenings is pretty widespread.

same with Sky Vegas many slots are min from 30p to 50p, lot of casinos will start doing same thing

I could be wrong but personally don't think this will happen, not anytime soon anyway.

Way too many low rollers make up a large percentage of the player pool who they'd lose or risk losing.

Not just saying this but actually mean it, if min bet on a game became 30p+ then 100% It would be the final push I needed to quit completely.

You would however, sadly be still stuck with me here at CM land :p

And is exactly, why I went from VIP card membership to basic to no longer playing there at all, I do get that there overheads will be high, but they are pricing players out even ones that would spend hundreds or thousands a night.

My example is on a 50p chip table I would often have as much as £200+ laid out on a spin, but forced into £5/£10 a chip even though I could still play £200 a spin it would make the bets way more restrictive, and for me personally…. Less fun, which seems to be the overall trend of all casinos, making it less fun.

Maybe a change of username mate? :p

whats the point limiting stake? when you cant make deposit more then £500pm in UKGC casinos, spinin £5 on £500 deposit you will play like 5-10mins
From when? I’ve already spent more than that in a month (stupidly) and this might explain sky did that, set £500 limit without any income check so is that now?

The majority of uk bookie sites have been setting loss limits based on credit checks for the last few years now.

Then if you want your limit raised they’ll ask you to prove you can afford it.

This pretending they actually give a fuck as opposed to being forced to, will cost them a fortune in lost income.

We all know who will lose out as a result.

well yeah you can't have a loss limit that is high now anyway as the casinos will stop you from losing more than 500 a month i think - many casinos less than that. Unless you provide them with all.your pay slips, bank statements etc!

I’ve lost way over double that in a few days recently and no one asked for anything at all in fact twice that happened then asked if I’m happy or something or other idk

Mr Q. I’ve not been asked for anything at all. Just some email with a few questions. Another is same and made O contact no email but idk what the rules are nvm
I imagine if you don't reply or do another 1000 then they will start asking for docs. I have played at mr q I did 1000 without them asking anything then when I got to 2000 deposit they wanted pay slips etc casinos are getting worried now if they don't ask they could get big fines, like some casinos have. But paddy Power is 150 a month, so is midnite bet and UK casino 900 a month

I actually deposited/lost over 2k in 2 days and before that near 2k with no contact from them then won back so maybe that’s why . At the moment my account is temporarily shut or something but I haven’t been asked for any docs at all. Ever except ID at start nvm

Yeah so obviously there are some background checks going on now, perhaps if you didn't win it back then you would have needed to send documents proving earnings etc, it's the net loss in a month. But by the end of this year things will be getting a lot tighter still

Yes I lost nearly 2k then won then lost more than that. Not sure why no one’s asked for anything just literally a few questions n that’s it. My friends dad got involved as I said about it n he’s in something to do with law so he grumbled n said do this, this and this. O idea why. Waiting for data, that’s it. Friends used MrQ, some male friends all go to casino all night but I’d hate that.

you can lose a lot more in land based casinos than online now, you can easily do 5k in a night with no questions asked, try 5k online and they will be asking you for all sorts of proof of earnings etc. I was in Genting casino last month and apparently there are cameras watching you how much you are putting in though and once you stake about 10k they can pull you to one side

MrQ Update -

Just a quick heads-up - new UK Government rules for online reel-based slot games are now in effect. These changes apply across all UK-licensed operators, including us, so here’s what you need to know.

What’s changed?

As of 9th April 2025, the max stake per spin will be:

  • £5 for players aged 25 and over
  • £2 for players aged 18-24 (this starts on 21st May 2025)
Does this affect all games?
Not at all! These changes are specific to reel-based slots. Other games like live casino, scratchcards, and bingo are staying the same.

What does this mean for you?
For most players, it’s just a simple update. You’ll be able to stake up to £5 per spin (or £2 if you’re under 25 after 21st May). We just want to make sure you’re fully in the loop.
