Hi,

I don't know if you're the right to ask this, but I try:

A well known casino group just began to offer a tool that is called "My Speedy Alert". It is a little program sitting in the systray. It shell bring you bonus offers "just to your desktop". Obviously, it is startrd auto when windows starts and then, from time to time checks for bonus offers. Ok, no prob.

But what I do not understand:

When you install it, they give you a little bonus just for doing so. You get it some dys after in some of the casino groups casinos.

Ok, but how could they know that I have installed it ?? When you download, you provide no pers. details. So, normally, they just have the IP. But this is nothing. So, how can they know I'm ME ??

And, it says, the tools should have a "anti spam" and "anti virus" function. I cannot believe.

So, can anyone explain this to me ?

THX

Every Computer has it's own IP address (I am not extremely computer savy and others more informed will pop in and answer you question more effectively) Briefly though.. I think IP is (Internes Provider address)...
So you can not create two accounts. When you allow them to download this, they get your IP Address. (be prepared for some spam!)

Welcome to the furum and Good Luck!

The program could read your username from the registry or the casino configuration files or wherever it is stored.

The IP alone gives nobody no info about nothing (just the country and provider). You had to ask the provider for the name of the user, that owned that IP in that part. time.

I think the registry read is the right answer, but hmm, what else can they see there...

What made me think a little was the fact that they said it has anti spam and anti virus capabilities (?). In fact, I tried to log into a MG casino and it was impossible. Until I disabled the tool !!! Maybe MG is spam to a Playtech tool ??!! LOL

IP address would be no good, as many now have dynamic ones (not enough to go round for everyone to have their own any more). Computers DO have a more specific code, hard wired into the motherboard. This can be read by software to determine which computer is being used. This can flag duplicate accounts, but again would not help the tool. It would fail if the player bought a new PC!
It has to be a registry read, and programs can read ANYTHING from the registry provided they know what the name of the keys are, this is how registry repair programs work. Casino software that can remember the user will store this in the registry, probably unencrypted too!
Several groups have launched similar tools, and mostly they offer nothing extra that you cannot find by checking your E-mails every day, and looking at the website.
If the tool prevents the use of other casinos once installed, it is itself "malware", and deserves disabling and uninstalling.

99% sure it would be the registry, but a cookie is also possible if runs http requests off the casino server. Each casino inserts certain keys in the registry including your account number, so a small install like the Systray icon could easily read that and tie you in. I like clever stuff like that - neat - although some transparency would be nice ;)

Casino Tropez / Vegas Red etc right? Hmmmm....that might explain the lack of transparency at least :D

Hi i went in for the $25nd at europa to on the 20th this month still not got it.

So when i spoke to the rep at online support i asked her the same question as you are asking here just in case i missed a form or something.

She said i will get back to me via email doubt that some how.

But its good to know that i havent skipped a form cheers techys. :)

Yes, until now (10 days) I havn't got one message !!??

Maybe broken ?

But, suddenly, I got 25 euro bonus in 3 different casinos (=75) as a reward... nice..

Just for your information.

when you do a search in your registry....you will find your accountnumber.
I have spinpalace installed - so i searched for the exact accountnumber, and voila....it found it.

may this helps you???

Did I get this right?
Casino Tropez is distributing a tool which will block access to competitors casinos.
Can anybody else confirm this "feature"?
Is it only affecting MGs or other casino software as well?

Thanks
Alf

This wouldn't be the first time this has been done, and the previous group got burned severely when it was revealed what they had done. Their malware was in the casino download, and blocked access to specific competitors they had issues with. The big problem was that players were not told the tool would block other casinos, nor were they given the chance to consent to it.
This one might have got round that problem by admitting it is also an anti malware tool, but to consider casinos as "malware" when they themselves are a casino does not wash - they seem to be using an anti-competitive practice, hoping that their players will blame the other casinos for the problem and not play there.
