The last month or so I've been getting a lot of repeat spam from the same types of affiliate sites coming through bulk email sites like email brain etc. Some of them have a 'report spam' link and I use that and click the option to say that I never subscribed to it in the first place - hopefully the spammers who bought the list with my email on it are getting spanked for misusing the service. And then most of the others just have an unsubscribe link - if you're getting spammed from someone using a bulk mail place, it's pretty safe to use the unsubscribe link, and so far it's working pretty well for me.

But be careful, yesterday I was on the phone and going through my junk mail at the same time - and wasn't really paying attention and clicked an unsubscribe link in an email that wasn't coming through a service and my virus protection started throwing up alerts like crazy. Stupid spammers.

I've had a rash of spam from a Vince Taylor selling a sports picks system. I'm going to go post in the other thread about them. It's actually why I came to this section just now.

I don't hit unsubscribe links unless I subscribed myself, all too often it just seems to confirm that it's a live address. Even if you are unsubscribed, it doesn't mean you received spam to their provider. It's necessary to use the report abuse function I think.

This one I'm quite sure no where I opted in is selling this system.

Yeah I always try to unsubscribe. For me its a bit about common sense when I decide what I will try and unsubscribe from. I look at the unsubscribe link, do google searches on the link and then decide if I want to risk clicking unsubscribe.

Have had it all, virus unsubscribe links, links that don't work and even links direct to an unsubscribe form on a casino's own website that doesn't work (*cough* gowild... The unsubscribe form was on their site, for ages it kept giving scripting errors when submitting my email, then when it did work I was still getting crap from them. Had to send a rather nasty email to stop receiving their crap)
