Hi Guys

I'm just wondering, how many of you follow online casino's via social media such as facebook and twitter?

If you do follow, why do you follow?
Is it to be kept update with bonuses or new games or is it simply out of interest?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

Out of interest Matt, does the casino you work for have Facebook and Twitter?

I know you're not them but the best one I've seen is also Irish.

Eilers Research has just completed a study on social gambling, which was reported on VentureBeat today here:

I thought it made interesting reading, and you may be interested in it.

The study claimed that Caesars Interactive Entertainment has toppled Zynga as the No. 1 publisher of social casino games in a competitive market that is now worth $1.2 billion worldwide, thanks to growth in demand, increased startup activity, and a series of high-profile acquisitions.

I follow a few. I've joined because of exclusive facebook offers or contests.

So you wouldn't really engage with any content?

Do you prefer keeping up to date with the offers on social media, rather than receiving promotions emails?

I'm a Facebook HATER

I hate Social Media. I do not tweet and rarely--VERY RARELY--log in to Facebook. I realize this puts me in sort of an "old fart's minority" but I couldn't care less.

Granted Twitter is truly significant and perhaps on day--if I have something worth tweeting about--I'll actually open a Twitter account. The reasons Twitter is IMO significant, in fact extraordinarily so, is because all the breaking news of the least or the greatest significance shows up on Twitter first. It doesn't matter if it's a horrible tsunami, a political revolution, another mass shooting, or Lady Gaga had lesbian sex last night you are going to get it on Twitter first. So, I appreciate the significance of Twitter as a global real time news feed about any and everything.

As for Facebook, don't even get me started. I am a Facebook hater. I created a profile in weak moment about three years ago. I log in about once every six months briefly. I never "Like" anything on FB. What I like is my business and if I care to share it publicly I'll do so in a forum such as this.

I have extremely strong concerns about privacy for both. What you put out there about yourself good or bad is a permanent record. I don't care how much Facebook promises privacy there is none.

So, to any I Gaming Rep please know this player will not Like you for an extra bonus. Instead please offer me that bonus by email or snail mail. Better yet, raise your RTP and make it easier and faster to withdraw if I win.

I don't want to keep up via social media. Send me a promotional email, let me know if there is something special going on on facebook, I'll drop by to participate probably.

I don't log into facebook daily, and I don't get the feeds from most of the sites I've liked. I just want to see what my kid and grandsons are up to, and what grocery coupons might be out there for me.

Iowa, dammit.
I love Twitter, but mostly for politics, social activism, and networking for my new business. For gambling, not so much.

Not crazy about Facebook, but it seems to be a necessary evil, especially for new startups. I hate the super gooey "If you don't click "like" you're obviously all for puppy mangling" types of posts that are posted by personal friends and family. Makes my teeth hurt. But I've gotten tons of good leads and advice. For gambling, again, not so much. I've unfriended one casino because I got sick of the free chip beggers and the condescending remarks from casino staff. And there are entirely too many affiliates who try to friend you but have no info on their homepage that they're actually affiliates until you Google their "name".

In other words, social media does NOT affect my gambling choices.
