Very minor, but will mention anyway.

My deposit limit is low with SkyBet - £5.00 maximum per day. I probably play 2 or 3 days a month at most and it has consistently been like that for about 3 years.

I only play virtual horseracing just for a bit of fun - 50p e/w, tricasts etc.

Last month I got a bit lucky and won about a hundred quid and cashed out. Woah. :p

I just received this email from them:

Dear XXXXXXXXXXX,

We’re writing to let you know about an important change to your account. This is in regard to the application of a virtual sports restriction.

What has changed?

As part of our commitment to Safer Gambling, we regularly review the experiences and products that we offer our customers and have made the decision to apply a virtual sports restriction to your account.

What this means:

A virtual sports restriction means that you will be unable to play virtual sports at Sky Betting and Gaming.

You will still be able to see virtual sports on the website and app, but the restriction means you are unable to place any bets.

We have taken this proactive decision because protecting our customers is our number one priority. At this moment, we will not be reversing the restriction on your account.

I guess I don't mind, it's just strange how they came to that conclusion.

Have a good day.

Yeah not too sure what is going on with Sky. I used to play at SkyVegas around once a month, depositing around £100.

Last month I got an email to say they had a made a business decision and closed my account with immediate effect and said I couldn’t use sky bet etc.

I also had my account closed at another casino too a week earlier, so maybe I’m on the naughty database if one exists?

Rob :D

Sky Vegas employ people who comb through players' accounts looking for patterns of play, potential bonus abuse, all sorts of things - in a lot more detail and with a lot more personnel than most sites. If you're lowrolling on something or are a customer of limited value because you only play at min stakes or try to grind out bonuses and so on they'll put the brakes on in the spirit of 'account optimisation'. They're all about safer gambling you see? Fucking hypocrites. They hate money leaving the site as well; that's why they don't have much high-variance stuff on there - they want people winning bits and pieces and recycling their money down to zero instead of withdrawing. The only time they have high-variance slots is when it's a really popular game and they know they'll lose customers to other sites if they don't host it.

This likely means they are under investigation by the UKGC right now and shut-door-after-horse-has-bolted is going on....
That would be fucking beautiful. Merry Xmas!

Yeah I noticed that with the game selection.

They're a massive company though so can absorb the short term swings in variance that comes with a high volatility slot selection, surely?

Tbf they don’t host any of the providers that are churning out these crazy variance games and never have done.

They had dead or alive 2 since release which is now gone but so have all the other netbent games(currently anyway) although it wouldn’t surprise me if these were down temporarily only to come back on with bent rtp.

Also there isn’t really any such thing as bonus abuse on the Sky Vegas side of things as you simply don’t get any!! It’s all turn over this for a few free spins etc etc which is all massively -EV. In the olden days you had the odd deposit bonus etc but not anymore.

Of course on the betting side of things they’re no different to any other company. If you’re winning or just constantly using them for the money back as cash horse racing or only the football boosts like the hugely +EV 1 shot on target etc then eventually you’ll get the chop.

No doubt you were lucking out massively???

Unlike you Rob…………

Lemon……..are you bitter about something???
It's just the tone of that letter to the OP 🤣

'Here at Sky Vegas we want you to enjoy yourself, but only on our terms 😀 That's why we've banned you from betting on virtual sports 😀 We're all about protecting our players and making sure they gamble safely - and that's why we've proactively stopped you betting on the only form of gambling that you've won money on 😀 Feel free contact customer support with any questions, and we'll fire off another generic template email that fails to address the heart of the issue 😀 Thanks for playing with Sky Vegas 😀'

They do seem to be having a huge crackdown at the moment.
I hope they are struggling TBH, pretending that they are great for players.
They bonus banned me from their sports betting bonuses and I insta closed the account.
I really don't miss them - and it has helped me cut back across the board.
IMO these companies are playing with fire.... boosting profits in the short term - but surely the number of players and revenues will fall in the very near future

The problem Sky Vegas have got is that they're a UK-facing site, therefore the UKGC's bullshit this year will hit them hardest, whereas online casinos who operate in other jurisdictions will have those to fall back on. Plus, Sky Vegas are shit.
But I suppose they've got their sports arm to fall back on - loads of football being played over Christma...oh. Maybe not...

What a treat that £1 free bet is though eh? Just in time for Xmas! How do they make a profit?

I used to play on Sky Vegas a lot 10 years ago but now I'd rather starve than feed on the crumbs they thrown down.

I totally get where you're coming from with the low deposit limit on SkyBet. It can be a bummer when you're trying to have a bit of fun and not break the bank. Congrats on your recent win though!

Please note that this thread hasn't been touched in 15 months or so. That pretty much makes it ancient history and the original posters here have likely long forgotten it. Always a good idea to check the dates on something you're thinking of replying to, especially if you're new here and don't have knowledge of the context of what you're looking at. ;)

And if -- gods forbid -- you're just trying to rack up posts so you can spam us then please don't bother and save us both the trouble. I see you are VPNing in from all over the place so I'm sorry to say that's put you in the "watch for misbehaviour" category. No offence intended, just sayin'.

That's awesome! If you're looking to up your betting game, have you considered using a platform like Sports Picks of the Day? They offer some great insights and analysis to help improve your betting strategy. It could be a good way to make the most of that £5.00 limit and potentially increase your winnings.
