Should My Bank Have Done More?

If that is the reason VISA ruled in their favour then hopefully they will tell me so. As far as I was told by Lloyds what mattered was what was in their T&C but who knows. I guess just wait to see what VISA and Lloyds come back with.
No my point is that the info is clearly and easily accessed on their website.

I did challenge the transactions within the 120 day window. It's just been such a convoluted arbitration process it's literally taken over 5 months to get to VISA's ruling. All that time Lloyds were defending me and saying I should be entitled to money back and they were doing everything they could to ensure that happened. Hopefully that is still the case now post-VISA ruling and trying to navigate the fallout. So far they've not said much.

Based on a Google search would seem the contract is likely void/voidable but I'm not a lawyer so may be wrong.

If it was me I would make this the focus of my challenge...basically there was no contract and thus the merchant received money they weren't entitled to receive. Visa may try to argue that legal action is the correct course of action to recover your funds. However the FOS looks at what is fair not just the legality. I would say if the contract is void then its fair you get your money back. I would add into your complaint that ViSA knew or should have known that the transactions were illegal since they knew you were in the UK and basic DD should have shown the casino didn't have a UKGC licence and thus they shouldn't have facilitated the transactions.

But it's too late to bring a new dispute on different grounds.

Oh they knew they were illegal. I flagged them that way too with backing from UKGC, the fact I was on gamstop etc. How Lloyds actually flagged the dispute internally I don't know. But my evidence covered all these areas.

Thank you for all your help everyone I appreciate being listened to. Positive and negative responses I value equally and have really helped me. I have not gambled at all since all this and almost nearing my own longest period of not gambling since covid started.

Yeah I mean this comes back to who exactly assigns the MCC code. At some point some organisation must have believed this was legal gambling for UK debit card customers for it to be assigned and verified that MCC code. Whether that was the merchant being deceptive in what evidence they provided initially or VISA/A bank or whomever not doing the stress test on it.

One theory that has been suggested by someone I spoke to was that perhaps PYD Processing at some point was the processor for a legit gambling firm with a license in the UK. And then suddenly weren't. But I really don't know.

Good luck fella, I feel like you deserve some!

If this was me, I would be focusing all my energy on Lloyd's now. Submit a complaint, wait for them to refuse a refund and then take it to the Ombudsman. I don't think you have many other avenues at this moment in time.

You could go lawyers - very costly!
You could go to the press - no guarantees of outcomes and could cause more issues

Great to hear you have knocked the gambling on the head. I hope you manage to keep this up!
