SEGA casino closing?

We deeply apologize for not informing you sooner. But SEGA Management does not want to have this happen, we can only say that we are very sorry that we cannot cater most of the players due to jurisdiction concern.
Thank you so much and we hope for your understanding.
The grammar Nazi in me is doing goosesteps.:axeman2:

It won't be Sega, it will just be branding. I know who runs the Casino and they have plenty of money in the bank so it's not a financial constraint. They're licensed in Alderney so not a licensing issue...I stick to my initial thought and say they don't have a UK acquirer. Banks these days want a substantial amount before doing business with overseas gambling companies

hiya: We are forgetting something. SEGA is a gaming company. Kid's games. I wonder how many Parents found out, "from their Kids Googleing Sega stuff", that Sega got into the Casino business, and and went, :what:............., and complained about it?

They were discussed in an earlier thread, and were then said to be very naive with respect to the online casino business. Didn't they also say they WERE SEGA themselves, and NOT merely an operator that rented the right to use the name?

It looks like they have closed, and the on screen message pretty much says this by giving 15th September as the date when players will have their balances refunded.

They started with wide restrictions, and now seem to have excluded even that small list of countries they DO accept.

This vague "jurisdiction concern" is complete rubbish. They are licensed in Alderney, so can accept players from the same jurisdiction as other Alderney licensed casinos. They should have no problem accepting UK players, nor players from the rest of Europe where there are no local laws prohibiting either gambling online, or banks allowing gambling transactions.

The rep seems to imply that there ARE still players who are able to play, so NAME AT LEAST ONE COUNTRY YOU STILL ACCEPT PLAYERS FROM! I am sure someone here could test this for us by loading the webpage, and see if they can get in. If not, admit the truth, and say SEGA casino is closing as of 15th September.

I also challenge forum members to see if THEY can find at least one country that SEGA casino still accept players from?

That might well be a possibility, is my guess. And just the sort of speculation Sega can expect by not issuing a well-considered public notification.

I believe Sega also has a division which develops software for slot machines.

Today I received a call from Sega asking me for my Moneybookers or Neteller account, because like I mentioned in my earlier post, I never made a deposit there, just won just over 3£ (thought it was 3$).

Well, just checked my Moneybookers account and they paid me a bit over 4$. I have to say I wasn't expecting that, wish every poker room would do that and definitely wish they would stick around, I'd give it a shot for real.

It's interesting that the rep posted here when things were going good, but when something like this happened, they abandon ship. I could only imagine that it'd be the same if the casino remained open.

now I have a problem with sega. I had a balance of 1000+ there. Of it 100 was the bonus I received some time ago and 50- my deposit. Now I was informed by email 2 days ago that they don't accept the players from my jurisdictions. The same day I tried to login to my account and to finish the wagering requirements but all the games were unavilable already. Now guess what- they refunded my initial 50 deposit and confiscated 1000 euro. Is that fair? I could easily finish the wagering if they give me 2 hours for it. But I was not given a chance. What should I do now?

This is not looking good. Firstly, they are NOT informing ANYONE about this, yet they are using a lack of telepathy as an excuse to void winnings for players who presumed the casino would remain open, and that they could finish their WR within the normal rules of the promotion.

A REPUTABLE casino would notify all players concerned that they were not going to be able to play beyond a given date, and to finish any remaining WR and withdraw any available balances before this time.

SEGA have closed on the quiet, leaving players to find out TOO LATE to do anything about finishing WR, and making an orderly exit from their accounts.

SEGA have lost the plot, they have ensured that they will go down in history as not merely incompetent, but ROGUE, because in some cases, they have tried to "do a runner with players' money". Even if such cases get sorted out, the damage has been done, and the SEGA brand image has been tarnished for some time to come.

It looks more and more like EVERY country on the PLANET is now an "excluded jurisdiction", yet SEGA casino are STILL trying to make out that they have NOT closed, but have merely widened their exclusions.

It would not make sense for such a wide exclusion list to be PERMANENT unless they WERE closing for good. If they were merely going through a bad patch, they would intend to reopen to many of these excluded countries in the future, and would NOT want to damage this by making it look like a PERMANENT decision.

I also got an email saying that affiliates from my jurisdiction are no longer being accepted/kept on. If they were staying open that makes no sense as affiliates target all over.

People can read they dont need capitals..again and again and again.......

Looks like I was right to question them

Like a lot of others, I also got the email saying Sega were no longer accepting players from my jurisdiction (UK).

Fair enough, since I had no intention of being a regular player there after my initial experiences. I wrote about my experiences here.

Looks like I was right to be sceptical, even though Sega is a so-called big name. Shame they were pretty clueless about running a casino. I'm not complaining though, managed to get paid for my 20k Royal!:)
