Why can sites take your money without verifying ID, but make it difficult to withdraw if you win?

I was really upset when I could no longer play at "Leo Vegas"..I had many great wins there (wish I had withdrawn more of them!) Any suggestions for good mobile sites that play fair? I have withdrawn $10,000+ on two separate wins from GW Casino, but lately, although they have heaps of ongoing bonuses, my wins haven't been that great. I also, won a fair bit at Emu before it shut down but after my first withdrawal had used several cards to deposit with (some of which had expired or lost over time) & when it came to my last big win just before being shut out, It took weeks for them to verify the new cards & they know gamblers can't keep cash in their accounts for too long without being tempted to play (I heard that's how the suicide of a young guy unfolded recently after a big win at Emu) Can anyone tell me why they are allowed or let you deposit as much $ as you want, but when/if you win it back, have a hard time withdrawing even though your ID has been verified & the cards are quite clearly in your own name? I had to get a letter from my bank stating a card was mine, even though I was able to provide statements clearly showing my name with the deposits to their holding company? Anyway, if anyone has actually read to the end & can give me some good suggestions or answers, it would be much appreciated.

Hi, welcome to CM!

I have snipped the end of your thread title and added it as the first line of your post by the way, as it was far too long for viewers to read in full.

I take it you are an Aussie player, where foreign casinos had to leave the market?

This appears to be the way Casino Land operates. However, I don't think there are many casinos out there who do not require ID on a withdrawal - whether or not it is automatic ID checks done via the Electoral Roll, or asking for proof of address, proof that you are the owner of the CC/Debit card used to deposit, etc.

Has Emu shut down? That is the first I have heard of it. Also the tragic situation with the young man you mentioned is not as simplistic as being denied his winnings, then playing it all back. There are threads on here that explain the situation, if you do a search.

What casino was this? Unless the card you used was very unusual, I am very surprised by this, as I have never been asked for anything more than a copy of my card.

There is an Australian Group on here. I would suggest you ask for membership, so you can find out more about the Australian situation.

For the person who asked me about Emu, I'm not sure if it's shut for outside players but no good from within Australia anymore..I know that none of the sites are supposed to accept Australian players so it's a bit dodgy that some still do..After a fairly big play tonight again with no great wins to speak of..I'm saying farewell to the online sites until or if/when Australia changes their laws...I miss my LeoVegas!!!
