RTG'S

I suspect She is using Zone alarm free which is just the firewall Rob.
Zone alarm and AVG free are a good combo.

When I was having the trouble with zonealarm (the freebie as well) a bunch of programs including the casinos were no longer listed in my (Crtl Panel) Add/Remove programs. Once ZA was removed they all reappeared.

Perhaps disable ZA in the startup and reboot to see if the icons stay or go?

No worries.
I assume you have a folder on your desktop "unused desktop shortcuts", if so do the shortcuts appear in there, this would mean that disk cleanup was responsible.

Back to the AVG thing there is an easy to find out if this might be responsible before we do what I suggested so.
Make sure you have the shortcuts on your desktop.
right click AVG task bar icon
open AVG interface
double click resident shield
uncheck resident shield active box
save changes
reboot your PC

If the shortcuts are still there we know AVG is responsible, if not then it is something else :p

Either way go back in AVG and ensure you check resident shield active box again and save.

It could be if none of the above works your user account is messed up which sounds possible if you have had big problems in the past.
A workaround would be to create a new account.

To do this (First ensure the shortcuts are on your desktop)
goto control panel
click user accounts
click create a new account
give it a name,click next
ensure computer administrator is checked.
When finished reboot and when prompted select the account you have just set up.
Hopefully if this was the problem the shortcuts should still be there.

ok I can only answer 1 at a time as I have not learned how to multi-quote:what:

Thanks

Jas, if you are running "Zonealarm" then you should disable "Windows Firewall" since you would now have Three (3) conflicting Firewalls up an running if you are also using a Router too...too much confusion going on for the processor and registry.

EDIT: The other thing too is that "Zonealarm" is also a virus protection program and it will conflict with AVG if you are using both of them simultaneously.

Windows is disabled a very Dear Friend at GG that knows her stuff told me long time ago to disable windows
Router is that the box I have sitting on my surround sound that we have 3 pc's plugged into then they go to the cable box if so then I have a router

also Gary has a router in the garage er tool room dont know what that is used for tho:rolleyes:

I have used AVG an Zone Alarm for years now no wonder my pc never types what I mean:D

nah just messing with ya didnt know it would cause a conflict
Thanks

Zone alarm and AVG free are a good combo but as Rob says it is best to turn Windows firewall off.
Goto control panel and select Network and internet settings.
Select windows firewall and make sure the off box is checked.
I have not heard of the software firewall conflicting with a hardware firewall (Router) although it maybe overkill to have both it may also add an extra layer of protection and should work fine.

if its FREE I got it :D

When you click on the download from an RTG site and the window pops up, are you chosing Save or Run ? With the casinos disppearing after a reboot, it just made me wonder if that could possibly be one of the problems . I realize you have gambled online and done downloads for years so this question isn't meant in an insulting manner. With everyone helping eliminate possibilites, I didn't see this one and will take a smack if I just failed to see it. LOL.

I'm one of those who strives to save every minute of extra work I can. At my age, I don't have time to waste. :)So, I created a folder on my desktop and titled it Casinos. Whenever I download a new casino and it installs, I then drag the casino desktop icon into the folder. When and if I want to play, there are all my little casinos together. It's easier for me that way than scrolling down the Programs list, even though I do alphabetize those, too.

I choose save an then run never ever would take a post fron you as insulting
I also have a folder for casino's an virus stuff an screenshots
I never ever thought not to save them while downloading tho

Thanks littlebit:)

I would not be surprised then if all the icons were sitting on the Recycle bin.

sorry dont know how I missed this post but I never thought to look there:D
cause to me they just vanished an I always thought each time on reboot WTF

Thanks

OK so they were still there when you rebooted, right?
So it is AVG removing them so you need to follow these steps.
First try this quick method by uninstalling a casino then turning off resident shield (you know how by now :)
Download the casino and install
turn on resident shield
reboot
If they have disappeared you will have try to the more complicated way but if you follow step by step you should be ok.

right click on your casino shortcut.
select properties and then the shortcut tab at the top.
then click find target
A window will open up where the casino.exe is. (the reason for doing this will become clear soon)
You can minimize this window or leave it open but you will need to refer to it again in a minute.
Right click AVG
open AVG interface
double click resident shield
click manage exceptions
click add path (a little window will open)
now the path you want to add needs to lead to the casino, exe
you can see the path you need by looking in the window we opened earlier (find target) for a MG casino it might be something like C:\MicroGaming\Casino\32Red for eg. (It is in the little address bar)
Now to get to C:\ in that little window you need to click mycomputer first then you will see it listed
In my example I would then click c:\
then click microgaming
then click casino
At this point I could click ok and all my MG casinos would be excluded.
You will see the path come up when you click ok then you need to click apply
job done.(hopefully)
reboot and see.
If you have more than one offending casino in a different folder you will need to do the same for that.

If all else fails I would simply try another antivirus ;)

took AVG off an downloaded Avast an the RTG's still vanish when I reboot
I tried saving them I tried not saving them I tried renameing ihe smart download for each casino as when I would try to install er download it would say a smartdownload all ready exsist do you wanna replace it if I said no it would not download

so I am stuck reinstalling them every time I wanna play RTG:mad:

Thanks all for the help

Cindy:rolleyes:

Okay what you need to do is uninstall all RTG's that you may have on your computer. Second when you install them again you will need to turn off your antivirus until the installation of the RTG is complete.

You may still have RTG files on your computer, you may want to delete those. Because when you try to install again, it will recognize it as already being installed.

RTGs

After you have uninstalled all your rtgs when you reboot..click on start..run and then type in regedit..go to software and look for the rtg folder and see if it's still remaining...you have to be very very careful when doing this as to not mess up your registry..if you see the rtg folder you need to delete that folder and reboot again and try a fresh install.

I have AVG Free and it causes me no problems with the casinos...also clear out your cookies and temp files. If this doesn't help you need to get your puter serviced or you have malicious spyware on your computer that's interfering with the install. I would do an online scan using Panda to see if this is also a problem.

With all the icons disappearing I thinking spyware or a virus.

Are you positive that the casino's program files are disappearing, and not just the icons?

Next time they disappear, browse over to C:\program files\ and see if the files are still there..For example: C:\program files\jackpot capital

when i hit start my computer open the C drive go to say Rushmore folder open it there is all the info
but to play there I have to click the icon in the folder that says install so I am basically reinstalling all the casino's as I said
they might be in my C drive but they are no use to me there
when I hit start All programs an hover over Rushmore it says empty
