ROME Casino - Top Game Support disaster

I've been ripped off by casinos only 4 times in my life - out of hundreds and hundreds of sessions at god knows how many casinos (hundreds of casinos and poker rooms with only 4 rip-offs is pretty impressive for the online gaming industry imo).

Golden Palace came good and paid all winnings after a few months. Cirrus completely flat out stole my winnings, changing the T&C AFTER I'd requested withdrawal to exclude my first world (lol) country from being eligible to play. InterCasino (I'll get all your opinions on it later) really screwed up bad (I know this will surprise some of you as they have a really good rep).

And ROME CASINO yesterday was the 4th. Holy crap - I haven't quite yet seen such obscure, unprofessional and illogical behaviour from a casino manager on chat. I have screenshots, emailed chat transcripts, the works.

Will post the whole mess if anyone is interested, but the core story is:
- after seeing them on (casino.xxxxx.com - a big review site, don't want to give impression of spamming as I have nothing to do with casino.xxxxx.com), I was looking to see if Rome had VIP Blackjack or Jacks or Better 50 Line. Whilst I'm playing around with Play Money version, a CS type offers me a large bonus. Tells me if I deposit 5k, they'll give me 10k to play with. I say I have no interest in playing Slots but thanks all the same. He comes back saying I can play Video Poker at 12x deposit / bonus wagering requirement. This *almost* makes the whole thing close to even, which for me is generally a good % better HA than I can manage - and, as you can tell by the InterCasino gambling I did below (1.5 weeks worth), I'm not exactly an "advantage player" lol.

I agree on the deal and am promised as soon as I deposit 5k, they'll credit me with 10k (fully cashable) and I could start gambling straight away.

I send though credit card payment of 3k before their system blocks me. Asking what's wrong, the manager told me I've deposited "too much" and "too quickly" and that it's suspicious. I laugh at the 3k being a flag-trigger and refer him to my wagering at InterCasino (in image above). Also, please note this is the manager who minutes before TOLD me to deposit 5k - now he's saying I've deposited 3k and it's just too suspicious. Hilarious.

He apologises and asks for ID's, utility, scan of CC etc. I tell him we should worry about all that if I ever need to do a cashout. He insists I HAVE to send him the scans right then. I go through a world of pain to get these for him and they receive them. The manager has said (about 5 times by now) to start playing, start playing - I tell him I'll play when his behaviour stops being weird AND not before he credits the bonus as per our deal.

They call me a few times and are VERY weird on the phone (almost abusive at one point telling me to "JUST PLAY ALREADY" or something like that) so I demand they talk in chat. In chat they say security department is unhappy with my "large deposit" and my security docs. And that I should just play whilst they sort it out. I've had enough at this stage and request a withdrawal (I haven't played a hand yet).

I'm told I cannot withdraw. And that the Security department will need a day or two to 'analyse' my (very high resolution scans). I say "no problem, you wanna renege on a deal, just cash me out please". He tells me to go to the right Cashier area and then laughs in chat when I see "YOU CAN NOT WITHDRAW AT THIS TIME".

I tell him I'm going to charge back the credit card if he doesn't let me withdraw, and that WILL annoy my bank, MAY annoy their CC processing company, and will certainly annoy him when their CC processor raises costs.

At this stage, the MANAGER (casino Manager) goes weird. Starts telling me how much he "loves me" in chat, calling me "dear" over and over, saying how much we would have fun together - stuff like that.

I've called up my bank to charge back the cards (which will be easy considering I have 8 years of huge CC turnover but not one single charge back till now. I'm then sent a letter from Rome security saying my ID's are all in order.

I try to login to my account. I'm locked out completely. $3000 is not exactly "lose sleep at night" situation for me, but the weirdness of their actions and the behaviour of their drunk manager saying $3000 was the largest deposit they've dealt with (seriously? omg), then abusing me in chat and then locking my account with no notice and refusal to answer all emails should send them directly to ROGUE I think.

Anyone for some VERY large chat transcripts or screenshots? Some stuff in there from their management (almost certain he was drunk) which you will NOT have seen before in ANY chat, I'm sure of it - it's almost hilariously weird.

I recommend instant Rogue for Rome Casino.

I know it's crazy. Seriously, this guy was drunk or something. It was the most obscure CS conversation I've ever had - and he's the manager of Rome (or so he claimed).

His name was OG - but then he referred to a Mark at one point (not sure if Mark was his OG's boss or if Mark was something to do with Security).

I was actually too lazy and tired after lunch to actually phone my bank and fell asleep. I woke up much later that day and had an email from Rome Casino security saying all my docs were authorised. I replied asking if the bonus had been credited - or preferably, if I just could withdraw my deposit.

I received no response overnight. When I tried to login again this morning, I was locked out of my account - having never played a single hand.

I'm pretty lazy - maybe the laziest person in the world - and Hazel DOES love to chat and chat and gossip sigh. But this made me angry enough that I called her, emailed her the transcripts and screenshots - and she started the charge back process in fury.

A couple hours ago I guess, the casino manager calling himself "the top dog" (Mark) rang me and started well with apologising for everything - the abuse, the time wasting, etc. I thanked him for his apology. He said he fired OG. I said that's a bit of a no-brainer but that he should probably fire himself also for running an operation like that.

He blamed everyone BUT himself for it all. Said his staff broke strict rules to offer bonuses they weren't even authorised to offer. Said his security department does things he can't control. I asked him if they worked for him. He said "yes". I told him the people that work for me, do what I fucking tell them to do.

He begged me not to process the charge backs. I told him it was out of my hands, and that due to my laziness and lack of caring too much about 3k, I actually hadn't started the charge back process until I'd been locked out of my account with no notice and no response to emails. So he got over 24 hrs more time than he should have gotten to fix the joke that is his entire operation there.

He pleaded with me to reverse the charge backs. I said I couldn't even if I wanted to, which I didn't - and reminded him of the ridiculous number of warnings I'd given.

He then, moronically, tried to threaten me - saying: "No casino will EVER let you gamble again if you go through with these charge backs. YOU HEAR ME! NO CASINO WILL EVER TAKE YOUR ACTION."

I calmly told him to stop being a moron and that idiocy was insulting for both of us - degrading for him and (albeit slightly amusing), degrading for me to listen to. I told him his casino was a joke, he should fire himself, and that I wished him "good day". As I was hanging up, he was mumbling something about speaking to the other owners of the casino and emailing me back.

For what purpose, I cannot imagine.

I suppose, if they shipped me like $100,000 - *maybe* I could call in a favour from Hazel to lose the charge back paperwork or something....*maybe*. But I kinda hope not....his desperation against this charge back was just as I suspected - they are likely already on SUPER THIN ice with whatever CC processor they use.

I just hope my tiny 3k charge back will be the little push over the cliff. That's a nice thought, I think....for the 3+ hours they've wasted of my life.

In most cases a charge back is a very serious matter and usually a black mark against the player.

But after not keeping the 5k deal, the CS laughing at you for wanting to cash out (after never having played) and then finding your account locked... Can't say I blame you.

I have a tiny bit of experience with payment processors (owned 10% of a poker skin awhile back and although I was silent partner basically, I learned a lot about the complexities and high costs borne by gambling sites) - and whilst the vast majority of CC charge backs are simply nothing more than fraud - the overwhelming theft of my money here and the evidence and screenshots will likely SERIOUSLY hurt them with whatever company they are using to process CC's - who probably already charge them a ridiculously high % - but, whom upon receiving this package of info from MasterCard, could very well drop them as not worth the risk. Or raise their fees even higher to the point of pure pain.

Our small skin was a very slick operation with very low (almost non-existent CC fraud) and, of course, we NEVER EVER behaved in a manner 1/100th this poorly with CC-using customers - and we were still paying through the nose on %.

If we pulled something like this, our payment processor would have dropped us for sure - I'm certain of it. I can't begin to imagine how much this kind of attitude which results in JUSTIFIED charge backs will piss off whichever company Rome uses.

Honestly, I just cannot see this casino lasting. It's run by incompetence, staffed by rude, unprofessional, lying staff - and just an overall mess from top to bottom. They'll fail - I can't see any future for them. I just can't.

If I had money in there, I'd get it out now. Seriously. For what it's worth.

It's kind of a pity, because seriously, that was some pretty slick software they were using. In all fairness, maybe elements of it were industry-beating.

Just to round out the package I guess, here is the email they sent me telling me my docs were all certified. I received no response to my reply for 12-16 hrs, at which point I tried to login and account was locked. For me, that's good game. Fail.

Pity the chat manager didn't check PROPERLY, despite saying "I'll check" on several occasions.
Making an unauthorised offer meant that when it came to crediting the bonus, they could not. Worse, after saying it was OK to accept a 5K deposit, they then said 3K was too much.

Security probably got worried that this was a Thai IP address, but Australian player details, and a MASTERCARD as well. This would worry them, since it could indicate a stolen card & fake ID.

Unfortunately, the casino made things worse by seeming to invent obstacles, rather than just tell the truth. Moneybookers was displayed, but was NOT available, now at this point the PLAYER gets the jitters, thinking this is simply bullshine, and that Moneybookers IS really available, but the casino says it isn't so as to buy time.

Later, higher management start getting all "nice and cuddly", and say the staff member that made the unauthorised offer got fired, and also warned that going ahead with a chargeback will create problems at other casinos - this is actually TRUE, as ALL casinos that use that processor will have the player blacklisted.

I suspect the casino is worried because it is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ACCEPTING MASTERCARD in the first place, and may be cloaking the transactions in some way. A chargeback request will reveal to mastercard that these have all been gambling transactions, and they might start looking for ways to block them, perhaps by expelling the processor responsible.

This story, extraordinary as it is, follows a trend where chat staff try to entice players with special "off the record" bonus offers. In doing so, it seems some resort to deception, or as in this case, exceed their authority, with the result that the deal is reneged upon in the eyes of the player.

As for 12x WR on 10K cashable bonus with Video Poker allowed - I just can't believe it, the casino would be giving money away. I suspect therefore, that another lie was told, and that it will turn out that Video Poker does NOT count towards the 12x, and may even be an EXCLUDED game altogether, resulting in another department confiscating any winnings. I doubt also that the chat manager had the authority to offer a deal over the weekly withdrawal limits.

Even if this part had gone well, and scooter had deposited the full 5K, and got the 10K without argument, there would STILL have been a whole lot of grief had he gone on to make that 100K cash-out.

Casinos with these withdrawal limits are NOT suitable for high rollers, but there are plenty who are more than happy to accomodate this level of play.

32Red may increase table limits, already 125 per game on 50 hand VP, and I noticed that Grand Bay (Grand Prive) had an astonishing upper limit of 6250 per game on it's 50 hand and 100 hand VP games

Jitters? They are an online casino. Do you understand the house advantage of various games? Do you understand an online casino's MO? When a casino is "jittery", I do NOT want to play there. I am almost certain you're many times more intelligent than this post suggests, and that you've either misread key points in the chat or are playing some advanced public "coverplay" game

There is NOTHING average about my gambling volume. I've done over $30,000,000 in casino wagering in the last few weeks online. My references to my play volume was a direct notification to these jokers that I was a high volume whale and wished to be treated as such. My gambling is stupid, but it is my money and I can spend it how I like. This does not mean that *I* am stupid. I'm more intelligent and know more about casino operations than the head managers of these casinos - all I would like is to NOT be patronised and to be treated with respect and fairness (which has not happened lately on the other casinos I've played like InterCasino, who insulted and patronised me over [arguably] their mistake over a disputed amount so small, that to lose a whale of my size over it just smacks of incompetence and stupidity).

When I get around to posting about the InterCasino debacle, some will agree with my position (people who understand the industry) and some will agree with InterCasino's position (people who don't).

As I explained to one of the InterCasino reps who was patronising (not intended obviously, but inadvertently insulting) me....when a whale like me goes to Vegas (and I'm not sure how many of you are in the position to bet in a manner and volume as stupid as I do)...Vegas treats whales in the manner in which they deserve. They DEFINITELY do not insult whales - are most casino whales stupid? Of course. But some aren't. Either way, you treat your VIP customers with respect or you LOSE THEM - it's that simple. The Vegas attitude towards casino whales does not come from a sense of ethics, TRUST ME - ido. They just aren't stupid enough to treat whales with disrespect.

When I start posting about InterCasino, the InterCasino reps who post on this site (who will present their arguments fairly, I'm sure) will back me up in that I generated $6,000,000 in wagering that week without EVER asking CS for anything, not a bonus, not anything except a request for increase in coin size from $5 max on video poker. At this point, an incident occurred which I believe was their fault - but even if it was 100% my fault, you look at the player's betting history, the chance of any angle-shooting - and their future value to your operation, and you make the SMART decision if you are incapable of making the obvious ETHICAL decision.

I'm not "angling" for a bonus from these Rome jokers. I was just looking for a new casino to try. If you read the chat, you'll see I was VERY nonchalant about the whole thing after being approached by CS when I was just toying with the software. I even said I'd do 50x wagering or whatever - you seem to have me pinned as an "advantage player". Three obvious points:

No, I was well aware that Moneybookers was NOT available. And extremely concerned as you have to be a PRETTY HORRENDOUS operator for Moneybookers to drop you. Spot on. They were stupid. You do NOT risk charge backs from pissed off players in this industry. It's hard enough and expensive enough as it is without actually handing evidence to players on a silver platter to charge back against you.

I refer to Rome getting the "jitters" because they are faced with what looks like a "too good to be true" situation. After the initial offer by lower management, it seems security cannot bring itself to accept that a whale of your calibre would EVER want to play at little old Rome casino.
You can tell how equipped a casino is for the whale by looking for transaction limits in their terms, and the max withdrawal of $2500 per week indicates this is a "small time" operation, unlike 32Red and Grand Prive (which incidentally is in the rogue pit for being "ethically challenged".

With the evidence you supplied of your activity elsewhere, it should have been obvious that $3000 was mere "small change" for you. The fact that they blocked further deposits, and sent your documents for extra special scrutiny, makes it look as though they had already decided you were unlikely to be what you said you were, and would rather NOT give you the bonus at the time (itself unusual behaviour).

Now, YOU know how much you play, and casinos you already play at know this, but a NEW casino is faced with taking your word for it.

Unfortunately, there has been a trend among casinos for assuming players are guilty of something until proven otherwise, which seems to have happened when your deposits reached $3000. They probably assumed you were using a stolen card, funds, etc, or were "laundering" the funds, so as far as security were concerned, you were guilty of something UNTIL they had done all their checks.

The incompetence shown at the point of contact with you, the customer, meant you SAW all of this, and were given bullshit excuses, inconsistent advice, and deals struck were reneged upon.

Finally, despite not playing a cent, they THEN told you you CANNOT HAVE YOUR MONEY BACK, and you even thought the manager took great delight in guiding you to the cash-in screen to make a withdrawal, knowing full well this would happen. This openly contemptuous treatment of you shows that at this stage they did NOT believe you were the whale you said you were, but perhaps a "advantage player" who had manipulated their way to getting a VERY generous bonus offer. They kept banging on at you to "play now", the reason may well be down to the terms, play ONE game, and you become shackled to any WR that might have been placed on your account - play NOTHING, and you are deemed NOT to have agreed to the WR, and could request your deposit back at any time.

As for the chargebacks, it depends on what the MERCHANT puts on your file, they could lie, and you would never know. You would not likely to suffer at casinos you currently play at, but for new ones, you might have a struggle convincing them the chargeback was legitimate.
This forum is littered with players who have made LEGITIMATE chargebacks from ROGUE casinos, and even cases where their BANK, not them, initiated the chargebacks upon discovery they were gambling related - despite this, these players have had a tough time with their casino accounts, because ALL chargebacks are seen as bad news, whatever the reason.

You will find that little is "fair" about how some casinos treat their customers, and they are far more "stupid" in the way front line support in particular handle anything out of the ordinary.

I would bet that in Vegas you would have a dedicated host of some standing and experience with dealing with whales, and you would NOT be allocated some trainee to deal with you, for fear of them getting it wrong, and your action being lost.
Online, it is different, front line support handle everything, and are SUPPOSED to send cases they can't handle to supervisors, or higher management. What is odd though, is that unlike Vegas, higher management are ONLY available in "office hours", and rather than being greeted instantly by a higher calibre of staff, you are likely to get an email telling you the matter has been referred to management, promotions, or whatever, and that you will need to wait until "office hours" for any reply. Even then, the reply may not be forthcoming.

As for the Grand Prive bet, it is 6250 credits, so would STILL be 6250 Australian dollars, not 15,000 - your money would last twice as long, but I wonder whether they could handle you getting a PAT RF at this level

Perhaps what we are lacking is a list of casinos equipped to handle the whales, currently, this is not something that bothers 99% of the membership here, whose deposits are handled within the normal promotional criteria of the casino.

It is the likes of 32Red that are established enough to handle this level of action, and this can often be gauged by the coin sizes used in the software, as well as the terms and conditions.

Microgaming (32Red software) has standard set max bet sizes, so it is easy for me to spot an MG casino that is using either lower, or higher, max bets. With Topgame, I am not so sure. Little is known about the companies behind the casinos, or the software. Promises have been made by reps here on the forum, and then broken. It really looks as though these casinos lack the float to handle a whale, which could lead to problems should you hit the big one some day.

There HAVE been cases here of players hitting "the big one", and then finding they have to wait YEARS to get paid. There is a case here of a Playtech casino (a bigger software brand, stock market listed company) telling a winner of several million on a progressive that they would receive a mere $9000 per month. This would have taken 20 YEARS to pay. There is nothing to say that a similar situation would not occur elsewhere. You could win big with your 15K Rome bankroll, and face being held to $2500 per week, with any "special arrangement" being met with the same excuse you got over the bonus - i.e, the CS exceeded their authority and there can be no exceptions to payment terms.

I lose my mobile phones about once every 6 weeks on average so that will take care of itself.

My bank insisted on canceling the card after reading the transcripts. So that's been done and, now thanks to those Rome jokers, I will have to rely on 3 inferior cards and wire transfers in Vegas unless I can run good and the postal service goes turbo in the next few days. That was my only card with no max daily w/d limit which was pretty hot.

I dealt to high rollers gambling tens of millions in rollover, and my job (as did everyone's) hung on the tenterhook of being professional, competent (to the point of almost 100% perfection in skill performance) and respectful (without being patronising or fawning - unless they wanted fawning, which some very much do).

It just...makes sense.

It is very easy to become "VIP" at many online casinos. I myself am VIP at many, yet I do NOT wager in the MILLIONS. It seems even their TOP levels are too low, and many do not have the equivalent of the private rooms that many land casinos have.

Only in Cryptologic software (Intercasino) have I seen "private table" mentioned anywhere in the menu, with "normal" players locked out.

The online casino industry seems to make more out of it's "public gaming floor" than many land casinos, relying on many players taking the bonuses, and often never making WR and losing the lot.

I have seen a few that mention in new player promotions that they offer a "VIP deal" where you can ask to speak directly to a host who will make you VIP straight away. The player normally has to make a substantial first deposit, and would presumably have to pass the ID checks. The deposits mentioned are several thousand dollars, probably around the level Rome casino found they couldn't handle in the end.

Most others tend to look at your action, and based on that, decide whether to identify you as VIP. Once you are depositing tens of thousands, there is little more on offer in the online world for whales who start depositing even more, apart perhaps from seeing their name at the top of every leaderboard promo going

Unfortunately, it would take a whale to identify which of the online casinos are going to offer the best. You have at least found one that is not up to the task.

This may well generate an "adverse merchant report" against the Rome casino processor that handled the transaction. I said that casinos often treat players as guilty until proven innocent - seems your bank has taken the same attitude, based on the transcripts alone. It would now be up to the merchant to show that these transcripts were the work of a drunken, now fired, rogue employee, rather than a reflection of "normal procedure" at the casino.

I once had a rogue casino request, no, DEMAND my ENTIRE card number, AND my 3 digit secure code be sent to them before they would pay. I phoned VISA international to ask whether this was a problem, and they repeatedly asked whether I wanted to make an "adverse merchant report" against them for making such a request. Normally, the 3 digit code should be BLOCKED OUT in any card image sent "for security reasons" to a casino, as well as the 8 middle numbers. VISA didn't think it too much a problem provided I was checking my statements regularly, but they were clearly not happy about it.

I now regularly block out these numbers when preparing an image of my card, and have not since had any casino object, since all they need is enough to show I have possession of the card.

This has probably cost Rome casino a golden opportunity to snare a whale who might have generated significant net win for them. They will now find it harder to attract other potential high rollers, not least because of this story of how front line CS handled a whale landing in their casino for the first time.

I think they expected you to deposit the money $1000 at a time (I am sure most casinos have a max 1000 limit) that is probably why they wouldn't let you deposit anymore as they had to check verification from where the money was coming from. As for the manager/vice manager whatever, to him the way you were talking about money as if it is nothing would be very different to him - he works in a casino, it wouldn't be a very high paying job so to him 3-5000 would be a fortune to gamble in 1 session & also to be told you have lost millions & sound very nonchalant, I think I too would be calling you dear & trying to be your friend, lol.
