[ROGUE] HippoJo Casino - Five weeks and still waiting for payment

Which in itself is not very professional.

Ignoring people with whom you have done business and who have a legitimate complaint is hardly what I would have expected from this guy - he and his sidekick Signell are one huge disappointment.

The total amounts involved are probably not even that large, either.

I've been in formed that Hippojo casino has been given the order to shut down, and that by tomorrow the only access they will have is to their admin section which includes player info - balances and withdrawal requests.

A RTG casino been forced to shut down! I had never expected to experience this.

Maybe Hippojo was not only non-paying the customers, but also the RTG the license fee!

any idea if and how payments are going to be dealt with? they still own me 680 pound!!

I would not set my expectation too high. They have no money and RTG does not have a guarantee fund like MG does. So who is going to pay you?

Actually, it has happened before. Gamblers Lobby from way back is one that comes to mind. And they owed about $15,000 grand. That's all.

I'm not sure how much HJ owes, but it looks like they owe just about everyone.

No idea, but like I mentioned, they have access to player account information and will still have all the info at hand on making payments. I hope it is only an issue of "when" and not "if" :D

Well, it DOES show that all the other rogue RTG casinos operate with the blessing of RTG, as if RTG can shut this one down, they could exercise the same sanction against Virtual and others, that have robbed players of far more than HippoJo, and continue to do so.

This goes against the "excuse" that these others operate because RTG has a "hands off policy (what us? - we just supply the software)", they can, and will, act when they want to.

no updates on Hippojo i Guess.... I think no news is bad news in this situation..

Hi,

Is this officially closed? Or is there any chance that any of us will see anything? 10%? I can hope.

Meister, please warn us if any of these people ever try to open or run a casino ever again.

Yeah, they will act if and only if THEY dont get paid. As to whether the players get paid they could care less.

H'o Jo Blows

Why can't these operators be charged with wire fraud? They accepted money knowing that they would not be able to pay it back. It would at least pin them down. And I'd certainly forfeit some of my money for a class action suit. I mean, this is simply wrong, and would never happen again if it hit the software providers in the right spot. Surely enough people have been burned to warrant an investigation.

Any thoughts?

You'll have to FIND them first - and then get them before a court, and I bet they are NOT in Australia (where the "brains" behind this lumbering beast seem to have originated), more likely somewhere like Costa Rica, where they cannot he held accountable. RTG themselves are holed up there, and can't be touched either.

This is my first day back at work after being out for a week - and I have further news...

One of the operators contacted me and has been in touch with the owners concerning payments. There are approximately 25 accounts that should be hearing something in the next few days. For those players affected, please let me know if they actually contact you. Thanks!

:eek2:

I'll believe it when I see it, not the first time we've heard that they'll contact us.. But I guess this is far better than no news at all.

Thanks again for your help Casinomeister, IF they are trying to fix this I have a feeling that your involvement is one of the biggest reasons for it.

Yes, it is encouraging that there is at least some movement/communication going on. I had pretty much written this debacle off as "useless to pursue".

I guess we'll see...

I actually got some money!

Greetings all,I guess it wasn't just talk after all this time, early this morning I received the following mail:

Dear Player
Please check your NETeller account for a deposit from Trustbond Services Ltd.As a past customer of HippoJo you have received a payment today.

The general policy for payments is:
1. You have not been paid an amount equivalent to the sum of your deposits, and
2. When you last logged in, you had either
(a) a pending withdrawal or
(b) an account balance greater than the minimum withdrawal amount.

A total of 25 HJO customers are impacted in some way by this. 8 further players are still under some form of review which is expected to be finalised within a week of this email. Customers are being contacted by email as payments are made.

We know this is not going to meet everyone's expectations. Yet receiving this payment does bring closure for those who are out of pocket. All player accounting records are retained and should it become possible to pay amounts over and above deposits in the future this will happen as a matter of course.

Yours faithfully
Katrina

Checking my NETeller account, I found a $1,341.21 deposit from Trustbond, equalling something like 680 of the ~4000 they owe me. Not great, but a helluva lot better than nothing, which is what I was expecting!

One question remains though, is there any hope of seeing the rest of my money? What do you guys think?

I would be grateful for what you got already. I would seriously doubt that any more is on the way since it has taken an excruciating amount of time to see any activity. But you can always hope...

Hi,
From what email address did this come? I have not received any word and would like to query them at that address to find out where I stand regarding this policy.

thanks

I received also this email from HippoJo-Casino about the "partial payment", and on Feb. 13 I received to my Neteller account my original deposit of GBP 100. Still they owe me over GBP 400 of winnings. I replied to them with an email of strong language saying I was not happy with receiving only back my deposit. Their reply then was:

We do not appreciate the language nor tone of your emails, and we strongly urge you review the limitation of liability provisions of the terms and conditions associated with your membership of HippoJo Casino.

Your account with HippoJo Casino is closed.

Kind Regards

Katrina

It is obviously okay for them to steal money from players and we must quietly accept it, but when we raise our voice about it they tell us they "do not appreciate it" and close our account firmly!!!

Where do they find this nerve???!!!!!!
