Rival Casinos Pull Out of Canada

Just got this from Superior...

Dear Jennifer,

Please read the following email carefully.

We have suddenly received an important notice from Rival (our software developer
company) of a new policy change concerning Canadian players.

Rival currently purchases software development services from Canada. For a variety
of reasons, these vendors have requested Rival to block Canadian players from all
online casinos that operate on Rivals software.

Rival executives have discussed this with their shareholders (some of whom are
Canadians) and have agreed to block new Canadian players as of February 1st, 2009.

Existing Canadian players will not be able to deposit at their Superior Casino account
from this date forward.

You will have until Feb. 27th, 2009 to play in the casino with any funds available in
your casino account. All winnings from play can be withdrawn after completing any
pending bonus wagering requirements and have sent all necessary security documents if
requested before February 27, 2009.

As of February 28th 2009, your account at Superior Casino will be suspended
indefinitely.

We want to apologize for this unexpected turn of events. In the meanwhile, we will
continue to provide our reliable service to all of you and will gladly assist you if you
have any questions or doubts regarding this matter.

Respectfully,

Matt Pearce
Casino Manager

Interesting explanation of the original "suppliers request" reason for Rival's departure from Canada - that's if you believe that there are no closer connections in the companies involved than "3rd party suppliers."

And when did casino software companies start worrying about what anyone says? Something smells fishy about this whole situation.

I wonder if there is a connection with MG recently pulling out of USA....

I'm confused about this:

You will have until Feb. 27th, 2009 to play in the casino with any funds available in
your casino account. All winnings from play can be withdrawn after completing any pending bonus wagering requirements

So, if you're not able to complete the WR in time, they're going to steal players' winnings? Instead of pro-rating it based on what percentage of the WR players were actually able to finish?

Wasn't it Mansion that tried to pull this same stunt when they pulled out of the USA?

Bump

Hi. Thought I would just bump this thread in case anyone missed it. Not all the Rivals I joined sent me an email.

I just contacted Slotocash to unsubscribe...they were one that did notify me. I asked if my comp points could be bumped to 1000 from 965, the answer was no, but the rep (Budd) took the time to go ask on my behalf.

I had nothing but good experiences with Slotocash (that is not to say nothing but winnings), and I am sorry to lose them from my roster.

UPDATE

Just to keep up with developments in the T.2 vs. Rival case I contacted the KUGLER KANDESTIN, L.L.P. law practice, which represents T.2 Marketing, earlier this month to see whether any settlement had been reached.

Apparently not - I was informed that the case is still pending in the Quebec Superior Court, with T.2 going after a breach of contract ruling against the Ottawa online gambling software company Rival Gaming, associated company 6300511 Canada Inc., and four individual Canadian citizens named in the court documents.

Thanks for the update Jetset.

I actually got a copy of the filing myself a few weeks ago, and have some thoughts to add to this thread. But I absolutely agree with your assessment, that this is far from a frivolous lawsuit, and looks extremely well founded.

Either Rival was telling the truth and they were short of money (that's the direction I'm leaning in), or else they are just unethical and a duly executed contract means nothing to them. Will be very interesting to follow indeed.

IMO, they did all of the Canadian players a big favour when they dropped out of the Canadian market.

Wild Wild West

It interesting to see how this industry changed in the last few years and it keeps on changing every day , It used to be the Wild Wild West , a relatively young industry ...not like the traditional industries we know and it seems that each day that goes by and with the attention this industry gets it will be all regulated and organized, more modern and more supervised.

Better for all players out there....
