Not a regular poster here but I've been using online casinos since 2005, and the Microgaming Viper client was always leagues ahead of the rest for me, mainly for the excellent Video Poker and non-slots games selection (I'm not a slots player). Smooth, fast and efficient gameplay, good autoplay features etc. A good variety of progressive jackpot games that are not slots. The Viper client seemed much more robust and professional compared to the download Playtech and RTG equivalents.

I used to use Viper at 32red, Ladbrokes, Betway, Fortune Lounge group, Casino Rewards Group and probably others too.

My long-term regular casino 32red withdrew the download client early this summer, and the Casino Rewards group withdrew it for UK players just last week (as far as I'm aware, this was the last place that UK players could still use it) and they are due to withdraw it completely in due course.

Perhaps it's partly nostalgia, but I really do feel that online gaming is in a worse place than it was 15 years ago now that Viper has gone.

Yes I thought the Viper client was a great way to play online slots, used it extensively back in the day at many different casino groups, most notably 32Red.

I made a similar comment in one of my recent videos, that in many regards I think online slots are in a worse way now than they were a decade or more ago, specifically referencing the Viper client.

This is part of the reason I enjoy playing at 3Dice so much (even though they don't have a client install any longer), because they're a single cohesive online casino that does everything in house, so the overall 'feel' of the place is far more unified and consistent, as opposed to most online casinos which are, let's be honest about it, kind of just a front end for a load of disparate providers. I remember Microgaming used to have the most amazingly configurable autoplayers back in the Viper client days, and look at the shit we get now instead.

I remember reading that html5 was going to transform the internet, to a graphically rich experience, I never noticed any improvement. I suppose it's all about bandwidth and reducing program size & data as it's cheaper to host, netent seemed to be stretching some of the gfx boundaries with streetfighter and jumanji iirc,

(is netent owned by red tiger/evo now?) Not even aware of netent's most recent release, shows how much they've slipped.

If 94% slots leads to the kind of desertion I expect, maybe the viper client type setup will return to offer something new.

😭 That is my response - a big fat waaaaah 😭

I have always been a Video Poker player, and this is what I mostly played - and yeah, I have to admit I am good at it.

The Microgaming Viper games - particularly the amazing selection of Video Poker were the best games hands down anywhere. Hell, they were better than the games you could find in Vegas. And it was just two or three years ago I got the heads up that MGS had signed a contract for the Multi Strike games - WTF happened to that?

But I can read the writing on the wall. Who plays VP? Europeans don't. They are basically slots addicts. And there is no skill at all with slots - it's just hitting the spin button over and over. So these games are more or less Hoovers - so why keep games that no one is playing like level up Double Joker power poker.

The bottom line is that this industry has changed these past ten years or so. It has gone from a player facing industry to a fleecing industry. The lack of player input in any of these decisions underscores all of this. At least I will be in Vegas in a few weeks. I can get my VP fix there at least :D

:D

I must take slight exception to that Bryan, the last time I asked for my lifetime stats from 3Dice (which was several months ago now), I'd done well over 100K rounds of video poker in real money play at their site :)

Admittedly I let their autoplayer (which plays perfect strategy) take the strain, but still, that's quite a lot of hands! :D

01:05:32 was the best part of that video, that stunning bonus round of 15 spins you had on Cheeky Fruits, subsequently renamed 'C*nt Fruits'....:laugh:

I don't use the 'c word' lightly (or indeed often) in my videos (every other curse word is fair game), but Cheeky Fruits well and truly earned it.
