Review of the new MG games (August)

Some math about the 'Dolphin Tale' feature.

If the random multiplier is uniformly (1/3 for each) distributed then some choices are better than others. (#free spins)*multiplier is a measure for how much the freespin feature is worth.

Making the table gives:
A=# free spins selected
B= average multiplier
C= A*B (measure)

A B C
5 45/3 75
10 25/3 83.33
15 17/3 85
20 13/3 86.66
25 10/3 83.33

So it is best to pick 20 free spins (given each multiplier has 1/3 of being chosen)

I've been doing exactly that (going for 20 free spins with 2x/4x/7x), and have gotten 2x enough (maybe 20 out of 30 bonus rounds) of the time for it to be suspicious. Are we sure that each of the multipliers here is randomly determined? Anyone with similar experiences?

I've not played Dolphin's Tale an awful lot as it's really not my thing, but every time I've hit the feature - I've been awarded the 7x. About four out of four times. I thought that you always got the top one!

Cannot WAIT for Mega-Moolah... Sounds FANTASTIC!

Probably just me, but is anyone else experiencing jerky reels on Microgaming slots since the August games? I have three MG casinos and they are all doing it (Dash, 32Red & Roxy), yet the Flash versions are fine.

I've only ever taken the x5 FREE SPINS.

I've hit it 7 times and it's given me - 1 x 10, 3 x 15, 3 x 20.

When I hit the x20 I average 100-200 times my stake. Roughly the same for x15 as well. When I've hit the x10 I've had about 50 times my stake.

When I hit it WITHOUT playing max coins I only received about 20 times my stake on a x15 award. Hmmmmmmmmm..... All the other times I was playing MAX coins.

I love Dolphin Tale, but it's a bit harsh with the free spins - a bit like Isis and Supe it Up.

They are indeed randomly determined, but my hunch is that MG was smart enough to weight the multipliers such that all 5 choices are statistically equivalent.

For example, consider the following structure:
Old Attachment (Invalid)
So for example, if you choose 25 spins you would get 2x 50% of the time, 3x 25% of the time, and 5x the other 25% of the time. Each of the figures in the table work out so that when you multiply the number of free spins by the average multiplier, you get the same result = 75. The average multiplier is calculated as:

(LowMult*LowWeight) + (MedMult*MedWeight) + (HighMult*HighWeight)

The result of 75 is what you would multiply by the game's long-term payback percentage (without the feature), which is probably around 2/3. This would yield, on average, a total win of 75 * (2/3) = 50 times the triggering bet per feature.

This is of course just an example, and I have no idea if or how the multipliers are weighted or what the payback is without feature.

Very interesting that it is possible to gives the same average multiplier even though
you twisted the probablities to do so. But you could do it without using fractions etc.

Actually it does seem to match the data I have experienced. (*7 multiplier not hit as often as the others for 20 spins), but still no way to say for sure with my data sample.

But it will not change my decision in selecting the 20 spins (though I would never play it again). If they are equally weighted it is the best, and if not it does not matter, but I still prefer to have the 20 spins instead of 5 free spins because then it is over before it almost starts. But the variance is different of course with highest variance for 5 spins.
