We are in the process of revamping the forum user groups, in fact expanding them a little.

Up to now, there have only been four levels to work through with not much incentive to do so:

Registered Member
Fully Registered
Senior Member
Meister Member

<yawn>

At each membership level, one has a few extra abilities (can create blogs, go invisible, more space for PMs etc.). But since there were only four levels, it didn't give much room for growth. Plus, these membership levels were made back in the early days of Casinomeister when the site was only a few years old. Membership is based on rep points, postings, and date joined, and back then most people didn't have overwhelming stats.

Anyway, cutting to the chase, we're adding new levels:

  • Registered Member is now "Noob"
  • Fully Registered will be "Junior member"
  • Seasoned Member (or veteran member [can't think of a better name])
  • Senior Member
  • Meister Member
  • and....drum roll please... "Ueber Meister"

Now when this is implemented, some of you may find yourself moved from one group to another. In most cases, you should probably be retaining the same privileges that you had before. The one difference I am aware of now is that going from Noob to Fully Reg is going to take longer, so some members may find themselves back in the "Noob" group :D.

When this is finished, we will be publishing a page that details what comes with what membership level. I just wanted to give you a heads up now so you know what's going on.

Bryan -- "Junior" gives me a visual image of somebody about 4 feet tall. Working with job descriptions and employee titles all my professional career; may I suggest you consider:

Noob
Member
Experienced Member
Senior Member
Meister Member
UeberMeister

Just a thought......

Diane

Hmmm... "Member"

I think I read too much cheap porn as a teenager. "Member" just sounds a little awkward to me.

Cheap porn? Well then I'm sure not going to admit that's what I was thinking too.:eek2: awkward. I think it came from Austin Powers ?
How about
peons sp?
ignoramuses sp?
upstarts
know it alls and uh ....
grand pooba? again, sp? sorry in a hurry. :)

Kidding on the above. I think.:p
Sounds like good stuff to come whatever we are called.
Thank you

*very glad we can change our titles...*
Not sure I'm comfortable with being a "seasoned" member...kind of like "please pass the salt and pepper my member needs more seasoning" :D

Okay - after careful consideration, I have the following:

Newbie member
Participant (replaces Full member)
Experienced member (new)
Senior member
Meister Member
Ueber Meister (new)

These new groups will be implemented in the next day or so. Some of you may be jumbled around a bit :D

I was thinking of sending you some Chinese porn I locked in my drawer 25 years ago.
I wasn't a teenager 25 years ago - but thanks anyway.

Okay - here we go.

The user groups have been revamped. We now have two additional groups, and your permissions throughout the forum increase as you are promoted from one group to another. This is done automatically.

  • Guest = not logged in
  • Newbie (new registrations) - Automatically promotes to "Fully Registered" if Days Registered > 90 AND (Reputation > 50 OR Posts > 50)
  • Fully Registered promotes to Experienced Member if Days Registered > 365 AND (Reputation > 200 OR Posts > 100)
  • Experienced Member promotes to Senior Member if Days Registered > 730 (2 Years) AND (Reputation > 1000 OR Posts > 500)
  • Senior Member promotes to Meister Members if Days Registered > 1460 (4 Years) AND (Reputation > 5000 OR Posts > 1000)
  • Meister Members promote to Ueber Meister Member if Days Registered > 2555 (7 Years) AND (Reputation > 5000 OR Posts > 1000)
  • Less Than Zero = you're in the doghouse - this happens when you get too many infractions.

The permissions for these user groups are listed here:
Link Outdated / Removed

The main difference is as you get promoted, you have more options to personalize/customize your profile, create blogs, and create and manage Social Groups.

Does this mean I'm gonna have to figure out how to make my "senile" member title again???: The internet Gods have cursed my home system (unless someone can explain to me in laymen terms how to realign a satellite dish, other than using my double barrel shotgun:D) I'm at the mercy of hit and run internet

One thing that Ueber Meisters can do is promote forum posts to the Meister Beat located here:
Link Outdated / Removed :D

So they have a little power in giving certain posts a bit of lime-light. They can chose posts by selecting "promote to article" and it will appear there.

I think the "Can Post Events" function in the calender is an underrated function here. I would probably have tried to use it.

But of course, I have only written 1237 posts so that function is not available for a "fully registered" member like me :p

I might still need to tweak the user groups since some of this was written on-the-fly. You're only a few weeks away from your next promotion anyway :p

I only asked because I wanted to mark the public calender with my promotion date :p

No but seriously, I think it has potential regarding for example new game releases, financial presentations for some of the popular groups here like 32Red etc, so yeah, I would probably have tried to use it :)

I was looking forward to being a "Seasoned Member". Today I'm feeling a little salt, garlic, lemon peel, pepper and ground ancho.

Mind you, yesterday was a garlic, ginger and soy kind of day.

Loving it

Looking forward to becoming a more productive member of our meister society. I understand the need to stand the test of time before I'm "promoted" though.
Thank God I don't have to see "Noob" underneath my name anymore! :p
