hi all got a request from casino i have played at for nearly 10 years asking for bank statements, which i duly sent, carried on depositing and playing then they asked for other proof of income days later, now i dont like letting people my business to the extent of info they request.
now today thursday 28/05 20 deposited £200 and played and withdrew £350,then played my bonus of £75.00 which carries a playthrough of 200x so now the clever ones will know which group of casinos this is.then reversed it to play game i had lost the £75.00 on was down to £162,70 when i get account restricted whilst playing also got e-mail again asking for more details of income.went onto live chat and was told to email accounts dept and it would take 2 business days for response, asked if i could withdraw the balance in account and got same reply email accounts.went to banking and could not withdraw so do i wait till they reply till sometime next week or do a charge back (last resort and close account) is it legal for them to keep my deposit.

They don't have right to keep your available balance, but if they have requested you to documents to verify your Source of Wealth like it seems, they shouldn't really pay you before you provide them. If you refuse doing so, they most probably end up to process your funds back to you if there are no any big concerns of your funds (are they legal or not).

They mostly can file report to authorities who then review if your accounts activity like presented by casino and decide if they give casino consent to pay out your funds.

Most probably they don't have any reason to file report of your activity and end up to pay you your balance but they kind of need to wait requested AML verification before doing it (and if not provided and account closed, report you or return your balance without reporting you).

I only can recommend that if you don't want to provide SOW for casino, stop depositing once you received that request as technically they shouldn't pay you money middle of AML (which that is categorized, even used also for affordability checks if somebody spend too much, but it also raise risk of crime if all dosh is gambled and have to fee family etc...) request. Deposits they are allowed to accept as that don't help any money launderer before paying it out which can lead to shite situations where you have made deposit after deposit but other way money don't move.

Some low risk players can get through it only by filling form and without providing any documents to support you have filled there, but probably sooner or later you end up to point when you are requested to provide something to proof where money for gambling is coming from.

If you are long term customer, your risk is automatically raised little bit as if you only use your dirty money, even little by little in month, casino can be in bigger troubles if they never have asked you anything and you have wagered remarkable total amount within years.

These demands from different authorities (not only UKGC or other gaming regulators but financial institutions, FIAU, HMRC etc.. who want to catch criminal money and are quite passioned about it) have really found online gambling... Any wise money launderer don't make one huge deposit and wager it in roulette with one red/black/0 bet but depositing much under official threshold which likes UKGC and MGA helpfully publish on their websites and try not to cause any attention with their activities. That's why normal behavior don't save you anymore these days. AML violations are much more expensive to break than RG ones and there comes reason for these extensive SOW:s for quite small reason and same time there's not much done when player have huge amount of failed deposits due to insufficient funds, every second withdrawal lost back and other RG flags.
