Played this last night, ate my deposit big time.

Not a fan of it really (might change if I get a decent win on it) and I think its because its so boring unless you get the free spins feature (I managed 1 in about 2 - 300 spins). I do not think its like Starburst at all, that slot is entertaining for me and it does not even contain a free spins feature per say.

I lobbed about 3000 spins through it last night in free play mode, not really impressed.

As much as I like the theme it does get old very quickly, it has nasty dead patches, the free spins feature frequency is alright but it can pay very poorly, and it's also very dull. It really needs sticky wins or stacked wilds or a multiplier or just SOMETHING to make it a bit more interesting.

I suppose the big point of free spins is that the whole 'reel table' is unlocked for every spin unlike the base game, but for me it's not that big of a hook.

Blathaon's feature table confirms what I'd pretty much decided for myself, another low variance sound and light show from NetEnt with a deceptively high RTP that won't be taking one single penny of real cash off me!

True. I believe you can potentially get a big win on Lucky Angler as well (if you get a large number of free spins and many sticky wilds early). Those are the 2 games that I can think of, but neither of them feel like a real high variance slot.

Not so bad for me. One of those slots where you get the feeling that the next big win is juuust around the corner.

It's definitely on the highest end of medium variance, maybe even high: you need a few good wins with wilds in the free spins, or just before, the more "ways" to pay you have opened up, the higher you can win of course.

More likely to hit i.m.o., if you did all the 400 spins in one Casino, in the same session, but 400 spins is low.

I was lucky on my first real money try, and hit a 200-ish x bet, but immediately afterwards found out it can suck really fast.

I already corrected you mate ^^

4OAK's and 5OAK's are the things that pay the most and even those are low-ish, yet since you can't make much of those combo's without the reels being fully opened up, and the reels only open up in succession of wins > Free-Spins, this automatically makes the slot high variance.
I.m.o, it's still a bit to new to be sure, hence why i said medium to high.

The frequency of the free spins is also a good indicator, but it seems you had a lot of Free-Spins?

I found it very hard to trigger the Free-Spins myself, just like on Elements.
And don't forget that although the potential is at its highest during Free-Spins, they guarantee nothing.

All that points to high variance (you won't hit much, often hit negligible wins,Free-Spins are not easy to get, but once in a blue moon those Free-Spins will land a 1000x)

No one's more surprised than me to find myself playing this for real money! (Amongst other NetEnt slots.)

Got an offer through from Redbet last night, 150 free spins on Space Wars for a deposit of €50 or more. I loaded up Space Wars in free play and the minimum spin value is 40c so that's €60 of credits for a €50 deposit which basically makes it a 120% match bonus, albeit with a 40xBW (bonus winnings) WR, so I decided to have a punt. (It's just about EV neutral if you assume €50 of winnings from the spins and factor in an RTP of 97%, but I'd be the first to admit it's pretty marginal, although with a maximum exposure of €50 I figured I'd have a crack at it.)

It's weird with NetEnt slots, I'd never play them on a straight deposit because as a low-roller it's basically impossible to ever win except on something like DoA or JATB, but on a bonus with a WR, they're surprisingly tolerable due to the high RTP and low-medium variance.
