I am wondering, when it comes to hosting, which hosting companies would you recommend? I for one can tell you that I would never host with Godaddy due to a lack of seriousness with regards to service. But I would like to know who you would recommend in terms of shared hosting services and dedicated servers?

Futurequest.net - outstanding pricing and customer service. I've been with them for eight years now and I'm a very happy camper. I have never had a rate increase, in fact - they have decreased my monthly bill three times. I pay almost half of what I was paying eight years ago. This is due to them installing certain upgrades. Instead of keeping their profits, they'd rather see me happy.

Coreix in the UK without a shadow of a doubt.

I host sites for friends including you ChatMaster on my linux dedicated server with them and neither they or I have experienced any problems. Apart from when I reboot the box LOL.

I've used a few UK hosts. However I can't fault VidaHost.com Seb & Dom (no not our Dom) run a tight operation and have always been real gentleman to deal with. Pricing against performance, peering and uptime (99.999%) I believe is refreshing.

I've also got a couple of VPS and looking at getting a dedicated soon.

All I can say is be careful there is a lot of crap. Although most times cheap does equate to garbage, that's not always true. If you happy using a support ticket system and do not require live chat or phone line support, then you should find this will bring your hosting charges down.

Be careful though of places that offer unlimited bandwidth. These tend to clog up quickly with accounts & people that tend to use CPU intensive scripts and what not.

I'd also do some background checks on who you plan to host with. Remembering that share hosting means sharing an IP. If that IP is being used by a spammer or what it is going to affect your site(s).
