question about RTG random jackpots

Thanks Dogboy

That explanation makes sense. If I'm betting a buck and someone else is betting a quarter I have a 4 to 1 ratio against them in hitting that random. The higher you bet the better your odds but also at the same time it doesn't guarantee a random will only be paid to the highest better as we have seen screenies with randoms won on .25 and .50.

The randoms that are 80,000 and above I haven't seen yet and should not be allowed to get that high.

Actually, like DogBoy said it's available on the rules explanation of the Real Series video slots. It's available to anyone who plays the slot. More specifically the second page of the rules explanation for a given slot. You can find that going to the going to any of the Real Series 25-line slots, clicking the "Help" button then click on "Forward" and read the last sentence on the underneath the heading "Progressive Jackpot".

Under Help, check the paytable and go forward:
Thanks - I didn't know that!
(I don't play progressives).

I hate to admit this but I once spent 1 1/2 times the random jackpot amount chasing the jackpot and looking at least for some good hits. It seems like the longer you chase these things the tighter they get. How can that be explained? Oh, and good sized bets too, like $2 to $5 per spin. At the end of spending almost $8000, I deposited another $4000 and that is where it seemed like someone flipped the switch. I've never lost that fast anywhere ever up to then or after.

If you're losing that fast, quit. I find it's pretty rare that an unfriendly game changes its tune. There's a point with every slot game I play that I decide this is going nowhere. If they're literally hitting zero every spin I don't stay long. If they're paying back over half my wager on average after a few dozen spins I might hang around. No rules are set in stone but you can always tell when a game is hungry and if you're just feeding it to hit a RJ, you're almost guaranteed to be disappointed.

When you do hit a RJ it will be when you least expect it. The last time I hit a RJ was on Hidden Riches on a 25 cent bet. I didn't know I hit it. I just heard the same sound I always hear when it hits something. Except I hit nothing. The win was counting up and was already up to about 5 bucks when I looked at my balance. I looked back down at the lines. My brain is saying "I see nothing. What did I hit?" The second time I looked up at my balance it was over 1000 and still counting. That's when I knew it wasn't a line win.

People might disagree but I don't think your chance is that much better betting huge amounts in the long run. If the chances of hitting a RJ are proportionate to bet size doesn't the basic math say that you'll have a 4 times better chance betting a dollar than betting a quarter but betting quarters you'll get 4 times as many chances?

Maybe I'm thinking wrong here but if you dumb the odds down to 1 in 100 odds to make it simple and you play 10 one dollar spins you had 10 tries with 1 in 100 odds. And I play quarters with a proportionate chance I'm getting 1 in 400 odds but I get 40 tries. Arent 10 in 100 and 40 in 400 the same odds in the long run?

You'd be getting better odds on each of your 10 spins but after I'm done my 40 spins haven't the odds evened out?

Yeah Skiny!!!
You have said exactly what I feel. I think the hype of getting better odds at a higher wager is just that, hype to get players spending more per spin making them think they have bought the better odds. But diligence at the low wager is proven that it too can give the player the RJP just as easily, plus wagering lower as you say gives you many more spins to that end.
Not saying that we need to be chasing them we don't, but saying in the end, a low roller can win a Random just as easily as a high one. My feelings with the high roller winning the random is that you paid more to get it than the low roller did. Kind of like inflation?
