Thought I would ask a question and although this might come across as me being bitchy its not meant to.

Anyway I was reading up on the casino of the year voting. I have visited here for many years but never joined till a year ago. Always checked who was best casinos etc. but never really looked at how it votes.

But I read that its down to a vote of 30 CAG members if I am not mistaken.

So my question is am I correct. If so does this mean that even if most people think a certain casino is the best in reality it just gets decided by that group. And if there are 30 possible voters and some do not vote its decided by the rest. And because several are in countries where they cant play most casinos eg USA that means in reality the casino of the year can be decided by relatively few voters.

So what im thinking is that if its decided every year by the same members who its possible play the same casinos all the time then its not really an impartial vote if those members have not played all the casinos on the shortlist.

Sorry if that sounds really bad just curious if that is really the way the award is decided or if I have just misread it.

Not quite as you interpreted it: the thread "your input please" combined with the CM - Team's own experiences and impressions over the year, and possibly some other sources, are weighed and then put on a "short-list", it is from this list that the CAG-members make their vote.. how exactly this is done i have no idea.. but all these members that currently can't play in some of the newer casinos, have played in similar ones pre-UIGEA, and the games are the least important factor, so i am pretty sure they can asses the facts presented, and based on that do a fair scaling of the Casinos on the shortlist:)

Thanks for answering. Maybe not the way I interpreted but from what you said its basically the same. So if in the input section 100 people named a certain casino and 3 other casinos were named 5 times that would probably be the shortlist. And if the voting members all preferred the casino that had 5 votes then it would be casino of year even tho majority of people prefer a different casino.

Doesn't matter to me just curious as to how it really works.

I'm a member of the CAG and I've dreamed of that kind of power! :) lol just kidding, we vote the same as everyone else. I'm going to flag this for Bryan to clarify, but I can assure you that what you said above is not how it works.

If in the input section 100 people named a certain casino and the next runner up had only 5 votes, the first casino would win and it wouldn't be up for a CAG vote at all. If one casino got 100 votes and another casino got 100 votes, THEN the CAG membership would be asked.

Thank you Chayton I was just wondering as in the other thread Bryan quoted

"Alright!

I just want to say thank you to all who have participated in this thread. 2014 has drawn to a close, and it's now time for me to get busy. I'll be compiling a short list for the CAG members so that they can vote for the best Casino of the Year. I'll be personally dealing with all the other stuff.

Cheers! "

Which would make you think the most voted casinos went on a shortlist no matter how many votes they had to then be decided by CAG members.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure exactly how it works. All I know is that I've only been asked twice (as a CAG member) for input and that's because the nominated casinos were pretty well tied, you could tell just by reading through the nomination thread.

Thanks chayton. I was just curious but think I might have been better of not asking lol.

As they say curiosity killed the cat.

And I'll kill you if you don't stop apologizing for asking a question probably everyone here wants to know.
Keep asking and you'll maybe get an answer...from Bryan. It's better to let him speak about this I think :)

No it's good you asked, I can see where you'd get the impression you did - who knows, there might be other members who thought the same thing.

Ha, but your curious cat comment reminded me of this funny pic. :)

Please keep in mind that it is the weekend _and_ the last days of the holiday season. No doubt Bryan will have an answer for you shortly but "shortly" probably means Monday-ish.

Thanks for the heads up. This is how it works.

In the past, I decided which casinos made it in each category. What was important to me was to make sure that I would consider the memberships' views as well as my close confidants. But it was still the Casinomeister awards.

After doing it this way for over a decade, I thought that I should give more power to the Casinomeister members mainly so that if in my absence (death, retirement, AWOL, etc.) the awards (now and for the future) would still be pertinent and valid. It also squelches any rumors that there is an orgy at 32Red that I have been participating in.

So the way it works, I compile a short-list from the suggestions and input I get from the teeming masses (for instance that thread, PMs and emails). The decision is still mine who makes the short list btw - but I also run it by the moderators and other confidants. It's then given to the CAG members who vote. To me, it really doesn't matter if a CAG member is in the US or not since it's about the BEST casino - not the BEST casino I can play at. There are a few CAG members who are not even players - Jetset for one. And he is well enough informed that I value his opinions even though he is not a player.

They vote (secretly) and then I compile the results and do the write-ups. That's about as fair and legit as I can get it.

Just catching a breather before a party.

I should be a ...:)
or a person of interest :+)

Please take a wise choice.

Trust that this member reads most if not all posts about members' choices for the best awards. You have a voice here if you let us know your favs. Finally it comes down to the numbers, there are few if any awards where I thought "what the hell??"
