Question about Bonus round Freespins

Hello There,

I just have a question about bonus round freespins as this has only happened to me twice in the years that i have been playing slots.

And please excuse me if this has been covered.

I was playing Gonzo Megaways and hit the 9 freespins bonus round and before i even entered the freespins my balance updated to what it paid out.

Does that mean whenever i enter a bonus round no matter if it is 100 or 9 freespins the outcome is predetermined? As it obviously looks that way even though i was under the impression that each spin is unique to an Rng.

The only other example I have is from last year while i was playing Lucky Halloween and my balance updated before i even made the pick of one the 3 cauldron choices on how many spins that i might obtain. Which too me defeats the purpose of even have to make a choice when the outcome is already set in stone.

I know its probably trivial but whats the point getting to choose how many freespins you get too play if the outcome is already set? or again if every spin is a unique Rng how does it batch out the outcome of the 9 spins before even playing them? I know software is fast but this is in like a split second...

Anyway, I would appreciate any knowledge on this.

Thank you

Freespins are just another form of bonus in a round so instead of the randomizer generating just a single set of reel symbols for the main game it generate the reels for the other free spins as well at the same time. The client will then just play this back and as you state this is computed in a fraction of a second. Modern randomizers can create millions of random numbers in a second so this isn't a problem.

Because of this so can for example the client quickly show the freespins with little involvement and delay from the server. The supplier would also know the outcome even if you had just looked at 4 of the 9 spins so could for example payout the complete winning if you left the game and never came back. Not sure if they do though but its a possibility it can be used this way.

If you see this result before the round has been completed in the game they have a synchronization issue and as you notice this takes away the whole experience of the game. You might even then see the same issue when in the main game its just that it wont be as noticeable.

Hi PuddleFish, Thanks for the reply.

That's what i thought as well but it just seemed odd when the 3rd scatter hadn't even hit on screen before my balance updated.

So i was looking at the screen, thinking that i had got a good base hit but it was the tally of the freespins yet to be played which i understand if the amount of freespins you receive is a set amount.

I understand also that it is probably due to sync..So yeah, Thank you for that.

And yes you are right, it does take away the experience of the game.

But just on another note, like for example the Lucky Halloween slot,

You have 3 choices on how many spins that you may receive all hidden behind a cauldron pot. Now i have not even made my choice but the balance has already updated to what it pays out.

So, the choice i make has no outcome on the amount of freespins that i have obtained? And it is just all for show?

Why even bother to give the illusion for a choice you make when it makes no difference to the outcome of the freespin wins?

Depends on the game provider.

Red TIger slots for example your win is determined as soon as you hit the spin button before the free spins even land.

If you are say playing on a bookies site and have the slot open while the sports page is open you will see balance update before you even get the bonus.

The result is predetermined on their slots and many other providers as well. All the picks and retriggers are just eye candy to look good.

Alright, Thank you for that.

That's exactly what happened as I was on a bookies site for that slot.

So Good, that clears it up for me as I was under a different impression on how it works.

It also, takes the mindF**k out off what ifs.

I wish you a pleasant day,

Thanks very much.

I had a similar experience playing Rick Wilder and the book of Dead last week. It was my 3rd spin of a 10 spin auto play betting £.40 when I was awarded 10 free spins. As a general rule I don't watch free spins and just wait till they are completed. It's a superstition thing with me. Anyway, when I ventured a glance I saw no [You've Won] screen or any of the graphic displays that always come up on a large-ish win. I was about click on when I noticed my balance had increased by £526-00. A massive 1325X win. And no splash screen. I'll take the money for sure but wish I would of had eyes on.

Most slots withhold winnings until the bonus round is over (playngo, netent, thunderkick), some add wins incrementally as the bonus plays out (microgaming) and others add the winnings as soon as the bonus is triggered (red tiger, netent/red tiger)

I had no idea this happened, I thought the RNG just did it's thing on a spin by spin basis. Kinda wish I still didn't know... it's a bit like learning that Santa isn't real

If it helps you can think of it as a scratch ticket you buy. Its also already "predetermined" but you still buy it and scratch happily away on it but that doesn't change the fact that the outcome of that ticket was predetermined when they printed it. But it was still randomly generated at the point of creation.

That is probably the best explanation that I have heard. Although it does take the fun out of it to an extent, knowing this.

But i will still be spinning regardless :)

Thanks again, PuddleFish.

Been playing Vikings Go Berzerk by Yggfrasil. Have a question about this slots design. One of the features is power-ups for 4 characters in the game. So if one of the characters lands on a win line during a spin the character gets a power-up. Fill the power-up bar for a character for free spins. Pretty standard stuff but on this game power-ups carry over from 1 session to another even if it's days between sessions. So that tells me the game is storing cookies on my sessions and I've never seen that before. The game also reminds the player after 1 hour of continuous play which is a neat idea.

I think it's less cookies and more the 'user ID' stored in the supplier's back office. They'll keep track off where you get to in the game. If it was cookie based then it would carry across casinos, which it doesn't.

Loads of games save your progress, nothing to do with cookies.

Think of BTG for a quick example of saved progress games.

Monopoly megaways (houses), Royal Mint (gold bars), Holy diver (crystals), Lil Devil (hearts) ect ect.

If you had spent a pot of money building them, you would be pretty peed off if you cleared your cache and cookies and they all reset to zero.

The length of playtime warning is standard for all UK Casinos.

Your right of course, I just didn't take my thoughts to the proper conclusion. It would follow that other supplier track game play too, but don't include that information in the game play like VGB. Thanks for your reply.
