Preview of the new Net Entertainment slot: Staxx

This was easy to name:

SUXX...........:D

Another low-value wild.

Netent appear to be suffering from hyper-inflation. As you will be aware, the Weimar republic (Germany) before Hitler had roaring inflation. A 100-mark note soon became a 100-million mark note, and by the time you went to buy something it was worthless as you now needed 500-million marks for your loaf of bread. Hyper-inflation made the value of the note meaningless.

Roll on 80 years and Netent wilds are the new Weimar Currency. Hyper inflation has now made them almost worthless, so much so that it's rumoured the next Netent release is called 'Kilo-reel', a 1000-reel slot where the first 10 reels full of stacked wilds will pay 10p (on a 50p minimum stake) and 900 reels wild will pay a whopping £9! Should you get the mental maximum win of 1000 reels wild (like the guy in the promotional video due shortly inevitably will) a whole tenner (20 x stake) will be yours!

I think it's alrite myself :) :p

This came about 250 spins after I had played my 100 free spins courtesy of the Flowers promo at Guts. 400x bet.

Now I would certainly forgive anyone who were to think "oh no wonder mcgameboy thinks it's alrite, the jammy fecker got a full screen of wilds on his first ever session playing the damn game".

BUT to be honest, I DO have a few gripes about it, despite hitting the biggest base game win possible.

1. The "speed" of this game when playing it at normal speed is PAINFULLY SLOW. I thought it was going to take an hour to get the 100 free spins
played for gods sake. Once the free spins had finished, I couldn't wait a second longer to change the setting to quickspin. And even in
quickspin mode, it is noticeably slower than quickspin mode on a game like CFTBL or IR.

2. When you get a "heartstopper" courtesy of 2 scatters on the first 2 reels, the heartstopper music stops playing well before the fifth reel
has stopped. Call me a nitpicker if you like, but if you're going to have heartstopper music, have it play right until the end of the spin or until
the 3rd scatter lands.

3. While I was playing the 100 free spins, I had to wait between 75 and 80 spins before my FIRST heartstopper. At that point I was thinking
"blimey, if heartstoppers are this hard to come by, god knows how difficult it will be to get the free spins".

4. I did get one of those "sucker spins". Stacked lion symbol on Reels 1,2,4 and 5. But no wild or lion on reel 3. Dead spin
A spin like THAT has the potential to happen on this game just a little too often for a player's liking.

5. A max win of 400x bet is not exactly a hot selling point for a game.

6. The paytable is very "NetEnt-ish". Or as the great Chopley might put it, "perniciously designed so that players are almost never ahead".
Unless you do what I did, and "hit a worldie".

7. Whilst a min bet of 20p is "low-roller friendly", I'm not sure I'm a fan of slots that are "halfpenny per line" or "penny per 2 lines" like this game
and Dracula. Although on first impressions alone, I think Neon Staxx is far better than Dracula.

8. It looks like a win of only 300 coins is required to trigger the "Big Win" animation. And it looks like only 600 coins is needed to trigger
the "Mega Big Win" animation. A win of 30x is NOT remotely worthy of being considered to be a "Big Win", let alone a "Mega Big Win".
Seriously NetEnt, sort that nonsense out already.

9. 2,3,4 and 5 scatters = no pay. As someone who started playing slots on MGS 243 ways and classic 9 liners where 2 scatters paid either 1x
or 2x bet, I have NEVER liked the concept of non-paying scatters. And I never will.

So those are the gripes, now for the good bits.

After the shaky start with not seeing a heartstopper until over 75 spins, they did start to come a lot more often. And even though
I only managed to get 4 FS rounds, I did get them in the space of 600 spins and I've already managed a 4 scatter trigger to get an extra 5 spins. After playing Flowers every day for a full week (at least 1500 spins total), I never got more than the minimum 10 free spins once.

Neon Staxx looks nice and colourful and sounds pretty decent too (I am an 80s child and was into Human League, Gary Numan and all that
"electric" sound that was prominent at the time). So for that reason, it's probably the kind of slot I would probably play if I fancied a bit
of super low rolling. Stick the headphones on and chillax with this on autoplay.

It seems to be low-variance, and appears to be something that I would consider to be "WR friendly".

Even without the max win of 400x bet that I had, I would still have managed to make a profit from the session I played, albeit a very modest one.

Even with a max win of 400x bet, the big win potential is there. But it's probably going to require the perfect storm. 4 or 5 scatter trigger,
wild as the permanent stacked symbol for the duration of the FS round and then (of course) the wilds have to show up in large clusters
and often. Until we see someone posting a screenie of a FS round that pays in excess of 400x bet, we are never going to truly know the limit of
Neon Staxx's potential. But that alone is enough to keep me curious enough to want to play this game a little more.

Please bear in mind that all that I have typed here is based on ONE session and is subject to change, and possibly of a drastic nature.

But for now.....I'm going to stick with it and give it a fair chance.

Apologies if my post was in "tl,dr territory".

Had another go and quicky lost 150x bet. Continued playing got freespins three times and didn't over 20x bet in any of them.

I have now lost over 1000x on this slot since it was released on Betsafe. Not on NetEnt "Mega Win" or "Super Mega Win".

I'm done with slots for a while.

You finally did me in NetEnt.

I have tbh. I rarely play Netent games for real money. It's not that I don't like the games per se. In terms of overall design with graphics and sound they lead the field I think. The designs in general are fun and entertaining. But sadly, while that is all great, I want to also play a slot where I feel that I could get ahead on it and maybe make a cash out. I never seem to get that feeling when.playing Netent games in general. Except games such as Twin Spin and DOA, etc there isn't much else that makes me feel I could get a good win. Nothing wrong with an entertaining game. That makes up a huge part of the experience and one reason we play. But if I always feel I'm not going to get a cash out, why bother? I'm better off playing something dull that can pay big. Sure I'll still likely lose. But at least I won't feel like I'm getting mugged just so as I can play with nice sound and graphics.

This firmly falls into the same old Netent category for me. Sorry Netent. But I'm still yet to be converted...

Nice and polite and good as always.

As you are now posting winner videos and reviews of slots maybe it would be a good idea to start your own thread and post all your videos in it separate from the rest.

Saying that because a lot of people like your videos and ones like this will soon get lost in amongst all the posts so people may not see them.

Just a quick question. Why are you playing the games in Internet Explorer? I notice that the sound in this video lacks music, scatter sounds and so on.

Internet Explorer has no support for webaudio so all new HTML5 slots will sound like shit in that browser. You should try playing it on Chrome or Firefox instead. Just a heads up if you want to play html5 games the way they're intended to be played.

I wish I'd read this thread before starting to play this slot, it has managed to slowly chomp its way through most of a balance of £180 on 20p spins, and hasn't hit over 100x stake on a single occasion, and I've only seen it hit a 50x stop trigger a couple of times.

If you want a way to slowly lose your balance without ever having any chance whatsoever of being remotely in profit, whilst some admittedly quite nice retro-synth style music plays, this is the slot for you.

I recorded my session yesterday, it was running constantly for over six hours, and it's been going for an hour today already. I currently have £21 left out of my £180, I am transfixed, I can't stop, I must see it out to the bitter end.

The free spins are fucking shite too, a total wet fart of a slot.

I challenge you to pick a more insipid, limpid turd of a slot than this one....

It's one step removed from just giving you 96.9% of your stake back every spin.

I'm quite partial to lower variance games but this is off the scale shite even by my standards.

EDIT - Had it running for eight hours in the end, got off it with £50 left out of £180, so it had a little rally of sorts before I finally binned the bloody thing off.
