Microgaming Poker Network deals up record breaking hand
online Heads up game shatters record for LARGEST SINGLE hand

Microgaming’s Poker Network served up records galore when a heads up game delivered the largest pot in online poker history. Two ultra competitive players, who at one stage had $800,000 on the table between them, played a $465,461 hand during an eight hour marathon, eclipsing the previous $357,256 record by over $100,000.

This slice of poker history was watched by 600 people and the chat box on the site was almost overwhelmed by the volume of excited posts. Comments were being entered so rapidly there was hardly even time to read them let alone respond, according to users and viewers worldwide.

After over 8 hours of play on the $200/400 No Limit Heads Up table at the Microgaming Poker Network, one player had accumulated over $700,000 while the other had around $80,000.

The game started out with $80,000 on the table and never flagged. Over eight hours, it took just over 20 rebuys at $40,000 to reach the total figure just short of $1 million in play on the table. It was a seesaw night as one player took charge in early play, leaving the other down a couple of hundred thousand. It was towards the end of the night that the largest hand in the history of online poker was recorded. The $465,461 was played when the second player made an enthralling comeback by spiking 3 aces on the flop.

After all the drama it is unclear how much both players had won, although the second ‘comeback’ player did leave with the bulk of the money.

Roger Raatgever, CEO, Microgaming, comments, “This really was a milestone for poker both in terms of stakes and spectator participation and demonstrates the dedicated following the game now attracts. I am delighted that this took place on Microgaming’s Poker Network and have no doubt it will not be long before all of these totals are again surpassed as online poker continues its rapid ascent in popularity. ”

I read about this on another forum. Pretty sick stuff. For the average person, just 1 of their pots is life changing.

A few weeks ago they issued this press release:

Microgaming Consolidation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monday 8 May 2006

Microgaming Consolidates Brands

Microgaming, the world’s largest provider of online gaming software, is to bring its industry leading Jackpot Madness and The Prima Network under the single Microgaming brand, it is announced today.

The resulting change will mean that Microgaming Poker Network and Microgaming Progressive Network will replace the old names and that a new ‘Powered by Microgaming’ seal will appear on all the sites which use the company’s software.

Both the Jackpot Madness and Prima Network brands will be phased out by late summer to give players a period to adjust to the changes. Both of these websites will be integrated into a new microgaming.com website. In the case of The Prima Network the company will no longer run Monte Carlo Millions; however the company is looking at a number of exciting new marketing opportunities.

The move further signals Microgaming’s industry-leading position and will serve to simplify all future communication. By focusing on one single brand, the company believes it can create greater impact in a consolidating market and that ultimately, the Microgaming badge will give players added confidence in an operator’s ability to deliver fair, intuitive, involving play.

The company is also reaffirming its commitment to ever richer game playing experiences - with constantly evolving software using cutting edge technology, together with fraud control and transparency innovations. There is a programme of 60 new game releases in 2006.

Microgaming’s CEO Roger Raatgever says. “We have led the industry for over a decade during which time separate brand names have served us brilliantly and helped our operators attract millions of new players to online gaming. Now we are entering a new stage of growth and we believe that by making these changes we are ready for this new era.”

Microgaming launched the first fully operational online casino over a decade ago. It was the forerunner of such games as Cash Splash™, the internet’s first wide area progressive jackpot, launched in 1998. The company now powers 120 casinos and has developed more than 300 casino games. It has also developed games in eleven languages and the software to support six major currencies. With links to hundreds of developers, Microgaming powers over 40 poker rooms on its network and the progressive jackpot casino payout total now exceeds $199m.

What a joke. They have logs to give exact #'s. If they didn't want to give the exact numbers, just release an estimated figure.

8 hours of play on the $200/400 No Limit Heads Up table

if there were only two of them playing then I don't see how they can claim

After all the drama it is unclear how much both players had won,
