I've been asked this a few times over the years and each time I think I've pretty much had to explain the process from scratch. I thought it would be worthwhile to do a reference post and simply direct people here. So ...

How do I add a post to an existing thread?

What you are doing here is "replying" to an existing thread and it is easy, peasy! In any existing thread (that you have permission to post in) you'll see the "Reply to Thread" button just above the page of posts you are looking at:

Also, at the bottom of the posts on the page:

That should do it! Now enter your message, etc etc. The Reading and Posting Messages section of the FAQ should be helpful to you if you have further questions.

How do I start a new thread?

Ok, first step is to go to the front page of the forums section of the site: http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/forum.php

Scroll down the list of forums and read the forum descriptions as you go. When you find a forum that looks like the best place for your post click on the forum name and you'll end up on a page listing the most recent threads/posts in that forum. Look for the "Post New Thread" button:

Or, again, you'll find the same at the bottom of the thread listing on that page:

Post to an existing thread? Start a new thread?: Selection_008.png,Nov 4, 2012

Clicking on that button will open the thread editor for you. Give your thread a title, type your post, then look on the lower right of the editor box:

That should do it! After you've submitted your thread it should appear at the top of the forum listing. As before, be sure to check out the Board FAQ for further guidance.

Slight update regarding the "Post New Thread" question:

Ok, let's say you're looking at a thread and you want to start a thread of your own. Basically you have two choices:
    1. as described above, go to the forum listing (see below, #1), and from there choose your forum and post.
    2. or if you want to post in the same forum as the current thread then use your breadcrumb trail (see below, #2).

Post to an existing thread? Start a new thread?: get-to-forum-listing.png,Feb 10, 2013

A few words on the breadcrumb trail:
    • the thing at 2.1 is the current thread (the one you are looking at at the time)
    • the thing at 2.2 is the forum wherein the current thread (2.1) is posted.
So if you want to post in the same forum as the thread you are looking at you would click the breadcrumb at 2.2 and you'll be at the thread listing for that forum. From there click the "Post New Thread" button and you're on your way.

There was a bit of a derail regarding thanking a post, now promoted to its own thread: How to: Thank a post?
