Can anyone give me a good url for a poker room or two that I can practice in free mode? Yes, I'm one of the Texas Hold'em "challenged"! :D I know there alot of them now, but I'd like to try one where the practice mode is a fair comparison to playing for real.

Hi Medusa

You can't really compare real and guest credits at all. But in all fairness I found that the Prima rooms has a few tight players at the guest tables. Especialy if you play the bigger tables. Check for the average pot size above 5000. Hope it helps!

Absolute seems to be the best for play money. Here is why. They offer a milestone, $15,000,000 I think, and will give you a free $50 if you get there. Also you can only rebuy once a day so it makes the games more realistic. They have sit and gos as well. You just have to get over someof the quirks of the software.

I don't like AP look and feel but I play there now and then just for the change in environment. Guess I am a Prima guy, lol. I experienced them as being kamikaze's all trying to go for the 15m mark. I made a killing there they go all-in on almost every hand. What tables did you play, I play NL?

If you get comfortable with the game and can adopt a "supertight" approach then sign up to Pacific Poker. I'd recommend avoiding the sign-up bonus, as the playthrough requirements are hideous, but they have the loosest players on the internet and some pretty low-limit fixed limit tables. It's a helluva lot more fun playing for real money and even as a new player I was making money on Pacific (and on Party Poker to a lesser extent).

I'd recommend Lee Jones' "Winning Low Limit Hold'em" as a great introductory text with invaluable "good pre-flop hand" guides for new players. Phil Hellmuth's "Play Poker like the Pros" is good for more advanced techniques.

I don't know if they still do it - cos I haven't played there for years, but Pokerstars used to have very low limit tables.
You should get a more realistic game in these circumstances because it's real money, albeit penny's!

Chatmaster,
I know I always seem to be moaning about something, but I was wondering if you know if Prima have any plans to upgrade their software? I find it hard to believe it was created by Microgaming, because I find it very poor to play on. I'm not talking fairness or anything, just the way it looks, sounds and the betting operates. Sorry to be a whinger! ;)

They have several a day!

I have played at PokerStars not bad. Allot of youngsters that can play a good game. Again I do not like the interface but the quality of the games at the guest tables are high.
