I'm in shock, how could tightening players' time and sucking the fun out of an enjoyable pastime force them to go to greener pastures with fewer restrictions?

Who would have thought it? Someone should have spoke up and warned them this would happen. Shame on us all.

i did here is their response

Dear Mr Nicholls,

Thank you for contacting the Gambling Commission.

From the correspondence you have provided, we understand you believe new regulations imposed by the Commission ruins gambling for the portion of the population who are in control of their gambling. You believe that we have the balance wrong and new regulations have forced players to gamble on unregulated casinos.

Our current requirements place a duty on remote operators to monitor gambling and take action where there is a risk of harm. We had identified in our casework that, while remote operators had the ability to interact with those being harmed, there were significant failings by operators to interact appropriately or quickly enough. We continue to see many serious failings with customers spending thousands of pounds in short periods of time and vulnerable customers being harmed. This is why we consulted on tougher rules to tackle this, such as requirements to take action when online operators know a customer is in a vulnerable situation and to put in place some automated solutions.

We will also be bringing forward for consultation proposals to help address three key financial risks that we consider to be priorities for action based on casework and information about financial spend. Those three key financial risks are significant losses in a short space of time, significant losses over time, and financial vulnerability.

The timing of this consultation will be agreed following completion of work alongside the verification and financial sectors and taking into account work with Government on the Review of the Gambling Act 2005.

Our approach is to apply a proportionate approach which does not impact on the majority of customers unduly, but applies measures which would identify and support the most vulnerable. As i am sure you understand, we are not able to control the individuals who make the decision to gamble with unregulated casinos.

Whilst we understand your frustration,we do welcome your feedback and we hope the information has clarified why we have introduced tougher regulations.

Your Gambling Commission reference number is; 1-287454453

Yours Sincerely,

What the Gambling Commission is perhaps aware of, but won't acknowlege - is that EVERY casino licensed in the UK has tools and settings that every gambler can use to set their own personal limits. The players can make these determinations for themselves, but the UK government won't allow this and will make these determinations for you. And what aggravates me the most is the hypocracy - they don't do this to your betting shops that are on every high street in every town in the UK. Or are they - along with the land based UK casinos - asking for source of wealth documents like pay stubs and banking info when you stroll on in.

It's 100% politically motivated and pretty obvious to everyone.

And herein lies the problem. They first need to understand the “majority of customers” aka gamblers in order to do this effectively. They don’t so they aren’t.

FWIW -- and I'm fully aware that this is totally anecdotal -- but if PABs are any measure of player activity then I'd say yes, UK players have gone elsewhere in significant numbers over the past few years. The number of PABs from UK players against non-UKGC casinos has been steadily climbing but last year it really spiked, something close to double the previous year. Our PAB reporting system is currently being overhauled so it's not easy to dig up exact numbers at the moment.

"Governing authority run by people with no experience in their field shocker"

The UKGC has become a self- parody at this point, and I don't hold out any hope for their successors, or any Government- led 'review' either. Does anybody expect them to repeal these anti- player 'guidelines'? They're going to get even more draconian on people's asses, like a demented guardian angel.

Just a shame then that the only viable alternative is to head to sunny cup 'o' cocoa clipjoints just to have a meaningful punt. Because I'm sure as hell not stepping into high street bookies to mingle with the seedy unwashed mac- wearers just to have a go on Raging Rhino thankyou very much!

Sorry for the pedantry but you wouldn't find The Rapist at the fake slot scam casinos anyway. AFAIK Light and Wonder slots :xxx:haven't yet been faked or added to their catalogue of crap.

My Gambling History from 2020
Year 2020 Gambling 80% UK casinos 20% Bookies
Year 2021 Gambling 50% UK casinos 20% Bookies 30% Crypto Casino
Year 2022 Gambling 30% UK casinos 70% Crypto Casino
Year 2023 Gambling 100% Crypto Casino 😂

My thoughts are with 888 and betvictor

Bookies Rhino is a very different beast, and not for the better... capped at 250x at max stake with 91% RTP.

Although, you can play the "special" game at max stake where the wild trees are wild for diamonds in the base game. It's interesting, although just as brutal.

I was at the dog races last weekend, for a bit of fun and to put a few small bets on. The amount of kids and teenagers running around placing bets, with their family is unbelievable. No problem there but if you or me want to play a few slots we need credit checks, proof of funds etc etc. Absolutely rediculous. Also no wonder there's problem gamblers if you're being tought at 10 years old to put a bet on 🥴

What is mad, is that in every motorway service station, you can play 'slots' which pay out up to £500, admittedly there is a max bet limit, but certainly none of the overbearing sow bs that players online are subjected to. Also there is no one there to stop you emptying your bank account into them.

Yet online operators are treated as pariahs. I'd wager these places which are frequented by families day in day out, with the bright lights of the cabinets et al are more of an inducement to lure people in and perhaps become a problem gambler, than an licensed online site, which makes available at your fingertips numerous responsible gambling tools.

Where is VWM? Everytime I stop at a services and see the 'slots', always makes me think of him.

Bacta, the trade body for the land based coin op industry have basically said that these machines will need to have a ‘SET your limits’ screen upon the start of the session.

It’s already currently being trialled in all Rank operated venues, such as Mecca bingo.

Once the player has inserted £150 or been playing for 60 minutes regardless of loss an alert is sent directly to the back office computer. The slots host is then duty bound to log this activity on the Bacta app against the profile of the customer.

The venue has to at least undertake an ‘intervention’ which basically is someone sent out to ask if the customer is ok, are they happy with their spending etc.

Data on spending, time, loss etc is monitored and
If this exceeds the company’s threshold then a source of wealth request is triggered.

Bacta have stated that they want all £500 machines to have this recording facility of loss/time on all machines.

So I think Bacta are doing this as they know the UKGC are coming along with something heavier. Bacta tend to be a bit proactive and take steps before they’re pushed usually.

Rob :)

Betvictor, another culprit licensed and regulated that claims offering VISA Direct only to leave the withdrawal pending for 24 hours, in case I change my mind and would like to play it back. Is there any output out there, except Paddy, UK IRE facing, that sends the damn money back to card INSTANTLY or at least doesnt leave the withdrawals pending, sending it in 2 hrs tops?
