Well here’s hoping my session tonight can bring me some luck came home from night shift this morning to find the cold water storage tank in the loft had split over night spilling 50 gallons of water into the spare room and hall stairs and landing.
To be told that home insurance dosnt cover wear and tear £1670 to replace the tank out of my pocket and they bumped my access from £150 to £300 even tho the policy says £150 (what a day from hell)

That's bull - that is accidental damage and exactly what it should cover. Try asking them again, or if they don't play ball appeal to the Ombudsman if they are alleging it's your fault. They always play the same game, avoidance of liability and hope you lie down and take it up the arse.

Maybe not paying for the tank, but are they covering decoration, carpets etc.?

Yup already threatened them with the Ombudsman they are sticking by the wear and tear crap currently no water/no heat/no electricity anything up to 10 for the damaged to be assed.
