Today I made a deposit at Betspin of £100, and used a bonus code from their current promotion.
The deposit was added to my account. But no bonus was added.

So i went to live chat where i was told that bonuses weren't available for Neteller deposits, and that there was a clause in the General Bonus T&C.

Ok, maybe I should have read through ALL the T&C, rather than just the terms listed on the promotion page.

But why can their system decide AFTER a deposit is made, whether to add a bonus or not. But can't make that decision BEFORE the transaction is processed?

It's not like it's an automatic bonus. I had to enter a bonus code on the Neteller deposit page.

Why is there no warning message when you enter a bonus code on the Neteller deposit page?
Why is there even a field to enter a bonus code on the Neteller deposit page?

At least there was some consolation, in that I doubled my deposit fairly quickly, and Withdrew £200

Be careful with Bonuses!
It is  crucial  that you understand and agree to the terms and conditions of any bonus that you accept. Most of the complaints that come through our arbitration service are bonus related; it would be safe to say that there are tens of thousands of players who have never complained because they realized after the fact that they did not understand or had never read the terms. Nothing in a casino is free – so whenever you see “free” being used, there are stipulations. It is important for you to understand that.

Please check out our Bonus Section that lists the offers given by our Accredited Casinos. No deposit bonuses, welcome bonuses (AKA sign up bonuses [SUBs]), exclusive bonuses, reload bonuses, free spin bonuses...all this and more!

Good for you..worked in your favour.

I'm also sick of being penalised for using a web wallet and tend not to take bonuses any more.

I was going to say, quickly try and make a swift profit,

I agree, I have seen it on sites, when changing depo method to an ewallet the bonus disappear or you cannot fill in the box for the code, Surley it cannot be that hard to get rid of the box, Or even easier and a note, NO BONUS

Yeah i made several deposits there with Neteller no problem at all, they changed their T&C for Neteller deposits, what pisses me off is that they dont even bother to send an email about it  glad you made a withdraw

Yeh I wish every casino could have an abridged easy to read T&C's of KEY INFO . Deposit method accepted , max bet allowed , any excluded games .. would make life a lot easier

Well thats all you need, is about half a page with the key facts, The rest of the terms are garbage, Just legal rubbish, Why hiding and making it hard is just BS,

There is very view sites that have the real facts in one easy place,

At least they dont let you play with the bonus and take all your winnings when you beat the wagering or say nothing when you lose. Happened to me and cost me 2000€ winnings. Expensive lesson learned: Always read the T&Cs before making a deposit even if you played there a hundred times. Never know if they come up with a "funny" new rule and dont inform you.

I agree however, it's really hard to keep up with changes in the terms.

I'm also glad they have implemented that you don't get the bonus, they got that right. Some casinos give you the bonus then confiscate your winnings citing this term.

the other day I counted at least 5 sites that updated terms, Unsure when they was updated but couldn't be that long as regularly sign into sites,

Just a dew sites I loged in to from Friday, Some are better than others as they tell you the the term No, I will add two screen shots, One from spinstation, They want you to read the complete bible again on this one, & betspin, There not giving you much info either, But No 3 is a clue, Any Game Rule I take it we do not need to second guess what this one means

Even when terms are updated I'm still guilty of not rereading them.

I should take more notice as it's gonna bite me one day.

It's all very well, but it still might fall foul of the CMA investigation because the deposit is "invited" with the offer of a bonus code box, and then the "bait & switch" takes place post purchase. This is against the law in the UK. A full solution would be to not offer the bonus in the first place, then the player is in no doubt that it is not on offer via a Neteller deposit.

On a similar note, my remaining viable card just got declined by the bank at 32Red. Now I ONLY have Neteller as a reliable option for online casinos. This is down to the policy of the banks, they are steadily phasing out the use of their products for "high risk" purchases like gambling, which is WHY casinos that are trying to phase out Neteller are asking for a sharp fall in revenue. It seems small deposits don't cause banks too much of an issue, but when I try a "Vinyl Normal" sized deposit my cards often fail me because the banks block the deposit, and often block the card itself, leaving a bit of a mess to untangle.

This of course rules out "Neteller hating" casinos for me. 32Red and my last viable card got along just fine till this evening, perhaps because 32Red is listed on the stock market, has been around for quite a while, and I have used this card occasionally at 32Red for a number of years.

Casinos that rule out Neteller for bonuses need to market to Neteller users in a different way, else they will lose these customers over time.

It's all very well having reps say "we prefer players to use cards", but it's not up to them, nor up to us, it's our banks that have the final say as to whether we can use our cards nor not play at all.

Excellent post (again) VWM! I don't understand why some casinos have decided to phase out Neteller when a bonus is involved - has it comething to do with the costs associated with payments to Neteller?

I've personally never used a web wallet and always used cards. Can I be nosey and ask what size transaction a vinyl normal transaction is that causes the bank to block your card?

I went through a phase of having my cards blocked at least a few times a month but was also resolved by calling the bank and having them validating the transaction before unblocking.

That is a term specific for UK players....apparently the most attempted fraud in the UK happens with the use of Neteller/Skrill.

Bonus and/or free spins are not available for UK players with Neteller or Skrill deposit method unless otherwise stated.

I know their terms and coniditons have changed recently because when i logged on to change my address details i got a pop up telling me about the change to the terms and conditions and i had to click agree to the new terms.

Anything over £200 seems to get the card blocked. £100 transactions don't seem to be a problem.

This might be because of how tightly the banks police card deposits. I never have Neteller deposits blocked, no matter what the size and frequency, but cards have been a constant hassle whenever transactions are above £100 or are too frequent. Fraudsters might be put off using cards because they can't go above £100 without the banks blocking the card, which of course immediately alerts the owner if the fraudster has stolen the card details and is hoping the owner won't notice for several days, time enough to launder the money through the casino and out the other side.

A Neteller account on the other hand can be drained by a fraudster very quickly, within a day even when it contains a 5 figure sum. This makes it easier to move the money out of reach of recovery quickly enough that by the time it is noticed, it's too late. Neteller also regard large and frequent casino deposits as "normal", so they would not trigger any warning flags that might automatically block the account from further use to limit the damage if it turns out to have been used by a fraudster.

The card that just died on me was the last card that still worked smoothly at casinos, the rest were constantly getting blocked and the banks would not set them so that I could "whitelist" specific merchants, such as 32Red. They could not explain why they were getting blocked some times and not others, because as far as I was concerned I wasn't doing anything different.

I have tried nearly all the major banks in the UK, and now ALL of them issue troublesome cards. It seems that they have a secret industry standard that allows small time gamblers to deposit up to £100 at a time without hassle, but heavily restricts those who deposit larger amounts.

If Neteller's failure to police their system has lead to it becoming heavily abused by fraudsters, there needs to be an alternative solution for players that allows for the same ease of deposits and withdrawals, and one that regards casino transactions as the norm, rather than "high risk", as is the case with the banks.

This experience only serves to convince me even more that there is no point in joining a casino like Betspin because I won't be able to fully participate either because I can deposit freely with Neteller but have to miss out, or because I opt in, try to use a card, and still miss out because of the bank.

Here are some screenshots from CasinoLand. Which is on the same platform as Betspin. Which show that it is possible to implement restrictions AT the deposit stage.

I have the 3rd part of the SUB available to take. But since they don't accept Neteller for the SUB, it doesn't show as available with the Neteller option.

(they do accept Neteller for subsequent bonuses though, which is why the freespins option shows for both methods).

Considering that the Betspin rep read this thread a couple of days ago and not commented. Shows that they're not particularly bothered about the situation
