Pick the worst casino for 2004

www.bigbetpoker.com is their link. They went bust in February. Yes they were a part of English Harbour group. There was even an englishharbourpoker.com skin and a couple other odds on casinos logged right into it. Pokerpot was another skin. A funny store about Pokerpot is that they had the pleasure of failing twice in a year as they were a skin of both bigbet, then after it failed joined YPN which failed just a few weeks ago.

Anyway the ecashier of Bigbet was Virtual Exchange. My homework showed they were hosted on the same server as several odds ons, at least a year ago they were. I emailed them and asked them if they only banked odds on casinos, and if they banked all odds on casinos, they said yes to both. My prop manager at bigbet also confirmed that he got paid directly from odds on to run the room.

I was able to cash out my entire balance at bigbet but was owed prop money. This was back in February when they failed. They left their cashier open in the software for a few days after the sudden no notice closure first thing on a Monday morning. Although it was slow I received my money from this cashout. Prop payday was Friday. It showed up in my account by the software like it always did but since the cashout and deposit part of the cashier was disabled I could not cash it out through the software. My emails were eventually ignored and when I called Virtual Exchange they told me I would have to email Big Bet and could do nothing if Big Bet did not approve it and do it manually. Like I said though this was all the same place. My account was locked so I can no longer log onto bigbetpoker.com under this account which has since become only a play money poker room.

If I remember correctly it was $78 they owe me. After all the endless cash I took out of there it was just a drop in the bucket, I shared in a $25,000 bad beat jackpot as a prop. Not paying any rake I was allowed to cash out my $6250 win although it took a month and endless phone calls to Virtual Exchange. The $12,500 winner in the hand said it took 2 months to get his.

thanks for the info, I dont understand how can a online poker room fail, they get the rake.

Four failed rooms come to mind this year.

Propoker widely believed to be a scam that used bots.

Choice appears to have run off with the money. The Choice Poker you see now is a part of the ACR network and is banked by Betcris under new ownership, the old room was a standalone that had a few skins that have now all joined ACR.

Bigbet had ridiculous daily promotions and huge overlay tournaments that blew between $600 and $1000 a day. They paid out almost $30,000 in bad beat jackpots over a 3 month span, most of this money was paid out to props who never paid a dime in rake. They also blew a huge promotion where they guaranteed a tournament winner would win $2500, then cancelled the $100 buy in tourney when less then 10 people registered. When cashouts got slow due to the massive amount of money they gave away people ran.

YPN got a terrible reputation in many online players minds due to involvement with some very unpopular people in the online poker community. They then had a terrible rake structure that discouraged players and a bonus that was literally impossible to clear They also had huge overlays in tournaments.

A mistake it seems many stuggling rooms make is that they make $xxx guaranteed tournaments. These usually just attract people that will hit and run these tournaments and it also takes the existing ring game players out of those raked games into a house losing tournament.

Also keep in mind in the small rooms many of the players are being paid by the house to help keep games going. They arent cheating as they have no advantage other then the pay, they just have rules they must follow. The house makes very little if any money off of them. Often they lose money due to deposit and cashout costs and promos prop players are allowed to participate in. There is also usually a 5-10% of pay paid in prop management fees.

Sorry I know I got the thread off topic, I was just trying to help answer some questions.

Thanks for all that info, Poker Addict. I know we took the thread off topic. But that was good reading. I had wondered why English Harbour wasn't into the poker scene. But apparently they were and I did not know. It's been a long time since I was in English Harbour and I do remember Virtual Exchange. With the enormous growth of poker, you'd think English Harbour/Odds-On would want to be part of it. So are they completely out of it right now? Is that bigbetpoker link just for play money? What was YPN? What room was an example of it?

Imho, I still like Paradise Poker best of any that I've tried. Fast and smooth software and plenty of action. (the other night I noticed Table Bronte. I thought of Vortrans' girlfriend lol)

Thanks again for the info. Sounds like you've been around the block.
;)

Big Bet is only play money now and YPN rooms were DeltaPoker, PokerDreams, PokerPot, TipsyPoker, NutzPoker, Pokeroo, SeniorPoker and CheckorBet. Not really household names except maybe Delta. Only Planet has been around longer. Delta is closed for now but insist they will be back. They had their own stand alone room for years and got invited to YPN (Yourpokernetwork) but obviously now realize this was a mistake.

As far as Paradise they have great software and will now have much more respect now that Sportingbet owns them.

Sorry again to derail thread, we probably should have started new one in poker section.

Thanks again, Poker Addict. I read your other post a few times and figured it out. I had heard of Delta but did not know of the others.

Ah yes, Planet. Fond memories. I saw an ad from them a few years ago and that was what prompted me to get into this online gambling stuff. Now I'm a full fledged sickie. woohoo!

Thx. Cya in the Poker Section next time. :D
