More and more gambling companies getting caught out like this, they seem to be the new banks.

“The company is to pay out £500,000 it received from the gamblers and £1.7m towards the commission's work on its responsible gambling strategy.”

This doesn’t sit well with me. I ask myself....’are the UKGC carrying out a witch hunt on casinos in order to elevate their importance, expand their operations by secure funds to keep them in a job for longer?’

It reminds me of the local private car park attendants who earn heir wages through fines handed out....

If you park legally then you won't get a fine, if you monitor your casino properly you won't get a fine.

IMHO these fines should be give to Charity or in the cases where it has been proven that funds gambled came from theft/fraud the cash should be returned the rightful owners ..

Part of this case was one punter used funds stole from a charity why the hell can they not get this money back?? With interest

I'm annoyed at the strategy they're going for.. I mean we do ask for SOFs (Source of funds), we ask for Payslips, we ask for everything but ffs, we can't go and get a warrant to get literally every detail of a customer's life... Soon, we'll be flying to your houses and knocking on the door to interview you in person..

I'm guessing you didn't actually read the story?

The company is to pay out £500,000 it received from the gamblers and £1.7m towards the commission's work on its responsible gambling strategy.

The settlement includes money being returned to the charity from which it had been stolen by one of the customers.

Exactly... They clearly didn't do a source of wealth check on that player...

The story seems to indicate failings in three bookmakers in regards to problem gambling and source of wealth. I don't recall ever reading about those two in the same context. Must be a nightmare for the bookies because unlike online the average bookie customer will a.) Not be conditioned to handover a plethora of highly personal information and b.) Be completely unwilling or unable to do so.

Seems like things are going to get even stringent for bookies. Diddums.

Your correct I didn't read the full article but hey ho.

Bookies were the last bastion for hassle-free payments for the everyday Joe Bloggs, free of the overbearing ID interrogations.

From that perspective it's a shame that a few have spoiled it for the many, again
Thus far my camel selling friend I’ve had zero issues over many years with WH and ladbrokes.
Big deposits and withdrawals, electronically checked, money paid no issues ever...
if this changes then I’ll start to get to the point of thinking sod it all, more hassle than it’s worth.

I'd expect to see the continuation of these great promos constantly available at BF for even longer then, such as wager 10 and get 10 spins promos, promos that "are funded from progressive jackpots contributions on games that are no longer on site"
