I was worried yesterday when I saw that a lot of the paddy power sites were down. I was told that they would be back up within an hour yesterday but then saw that an outage message was occurring this morning as well. So I did some digging on it and found out that the sites software came under sophisticated malicious attack that was not stopped by the usual protocols.

For more information I wrote about it in my blog here You must register/login in order to see the link.

Just would like to add that the sites were not "hacked," they were attacked so Paddy Power released a statement on their blog which reads in part:

"We would like to stress that Paddy Power systems have not been “hacked” into. The attack is what is known as a “Distributed Denial of Service” (DDOS) attack and is designed to clog up our website. No customer data has been compromised and our systems, while at times were unavailable, were at all times secure."
