Another victory for the OPA? Or a major techno-glitch?

    A little time will tell.

    Dear Mr. Powers,

We will make every effort to investigate whether the Online Casino
Managers' Association was in direct violation of any US or foreign laws
in connection with the operation of the OCMA web site.

    Please note for the record:

-No person's private information was publicly accessible on the world
    wide web.
-The OCMA's database does not contain any credit card information.
-The OCMA's database does not contain social security numbers
-The OCMA's database does not contain any personal identification numbers
-The OCMA's database is only accessible by the 80 OCMA members.
-The OCMA's database is safeguarded by various online security systems
    against intrusion
-Names, aliases, email addresses, and known mailing addresses were
submitted by the 80 OCMA members inidvidually to the database.

While our legal research is in progress, we will cease all activities of
the OCMA, which we believe is fully compliant with your requests made

    Sincerely yours,

    Tony Friedman

"The OCMA site does not contain.....etc, etc" Well it doesn't now! I'll bet there has been some frantic "sanitizing" going on over there.

And he does not (because he can not) address the issue of the players' right to know if they are being blacklisted and the right of defence and appeal.

This is an interesting action, not least due to the amount of information now available on these characters.
