odds and ends

We're experiencing a mini heatwave in the uk, so thought it a good idea to share this sage advice just seen on twitter:

Watched this last night, it's more of a preview but still interesting. The fact a video game can go on to become a thing in itself, with folk making it part of other things in their life, people looking for something, a connection.

The saloon front looks cool, needs a bit of work inside, but something about the desert like conditions that appeals to me, and you can find sanctuary in the saloon, or in your log cabin.

Fallout New Vegas is such a good game, you have a ton of choice when it comes to shaping how the game plays out depending on what factions you side with, what stats you invest points in etc.
Playing a character with low intelligence will give you different dialogue options for example, being 'evil' will lock you out from some of the 'good' routes and so on, almost limitless replayability.

Just walking around talking to people is interesting enough, there are so many unique characters to discover, like Mr. Fantastic.

No one likes a show-off.....except for when people brave danger to perform a selfless act and especially help injured or stranded animals!

We don't know who he was, but it matters little. Good people still exist!

Wadda guy! 👌

Today's events have been somewhat astounding, as I.T systems have seemingly gone into global meltdown!

Many workers have been left crestfallen on this Friday, as these illustrations indicate on this most momentous of occasions

That's the other thing: as much as William Gates is a conspiracy favourite, I doubt he'd want to destroy his own brand, tank shares and lose $billions. Rivals, sure, but less so with your product, as losing money is their #1 hate!

Still though....

From twitter, building the cityscape for Bladerunner 1982.

I only watched the film this year, have to say Ridley Scott has gone backwards, he probably was excited about the future and the new technology available to film makers etc..but something's been lost in the art and magic atm.

You're right - Scott's output seems more hit-and-miss than years prior, unlike when his films would auto-generate a guarantee of quality. Napoleon was awful, for example!

His body of work is still tremendous however, as evidenced by his creative vision in his pomp.

The OG Bladerunner will always carry that dystopian menace and bleakness, whilst the newer Bladerunner 2049 already looks dated in places and quite rushed, certainly from a 'city view' perspective!

Gotst to go, every bugger's quoting me :p

Hope everyone that was witness to the Olympic opening ceremony has sufficiently recovered by now.

Word has it that it was a washout, plagued by terrible performances and even having the Olympic flag raised upside down!

Also featured were somewhat, erm, 'strange' visual performances, the sort that would make your nan blush and elicit mumbles of 'satanic, ritualistic illuminati porn' :p

Best of all though would have to be the naked smurf, meant to resemble Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, festivity and theatre.

We all got Dionysus from this right? right?

It was great to see Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac enjoying his dotage with a ball hanging out.

It appears that one of its sponsors have pulled out due to being offended by its opening ceremony last night and others are considering doing so too

Sponsor... They're not an official sponsor or partner of the Olympics.

A telecom company out of Mississippi, C Spire, bought advertising time on TV during Olympics coverage and has now pulled it.

Never heard of the company until now and seems to be a local player. At least they're getting their clicks on X now!
